I still say the entire desktop line will be updated at the media event, much like the notebook event last year.

As for this Tuesday, shouldn't the 32gb chips be out for the iPhone and Touch to incorporate. They were updated Feb last year, so the spec bump seems plausible.

Apple Keynote... sure, I'm up for that. :)
I just hope Ive delivers it and not Schiller. Ive is much better, I think, at delivering keynote addresses. Better yet, Steve. No one can replace Steve.
:apple:

wow....a new mac mini with a 2.4 core2 duo and more RAM....? BIG WOOP!

Apple drags and drags and drags.............

Too little Too late!

Well, how many posts have already remarked that its perhaps too little too late?

I posted recently citing my dismay that Apple could ignore its fan base of long-time existing desktop users by not offering more recent and cost effective updates … heck, I even threatened to head back to the wonderful world of Microsoft because, despite all the pro's of OSX, iLife etc, when you can purchase an i7 quad core XPS unit with 6GB, 1TB, twin 512MB graphics cards and a 24" display for circa £1,400; its hard to justify buying an Apple!

Yes, I know the OS is worth the hundreds of £'s premium; but at the moment, when the hardware is so far behind … well, sorry, but I'd rather have to pay a price premium (i.e. the same spec machine from Apple at £2,000) than a hardware one (i.e. I'm dammed if I'm going to shell out £1,000+ on a dual core machine that’s reaching its end of days (or likewise pay £2,000+ for a Mac Pro!)

That’s it isn't it - Apple used to be the innovator that offered current spec machines at a higher price because of style and quality of software. But these days, we have a manufacturer that offers old technology at high prices - I mean, we've seen no updates on iMacs for nearly 12 months now so its really taking the mickey in these hard times for a manufacturer not to offer products for those wanting. As for all those people who say Apple are cash rich so can do what they like; they need to go to business school because even stupid knows that if you don’t build it, no one can buy it!

Suffice to say, unfortunately for the 3rd time in 2 years, I've just been made redundant; so that £1,000+ that I've had in my pocket since selling my white iMac in January (hoping for new models at MacWorld) will now end up going on a sub £500 windows PC and some bills. And hey, before any fan boy says 'why don’t you buy a Mac mini on eBay', yeah, and whilst I'm at it I'll also look to sell my car and buy a 1970 Capri for £3,000!

Point to the post is, Apple have lost my money due to their delays and lost a fan … how many more has this affected! Other manufacturers (I'm thinking Hackintosh) … now is the time to strike!

.. and P.S. - even if we do see new iMacs tomorrow ... unless these are quad core machines, Apple may as well close down their desktop manufacturing plant now!

mac minis will have the same specs, but new chassis in pure fresh plastic!

Preparing for 'Apple after Jobs'

Apple drags and drags and drags.............
Apple is preparing for the end of the Jobs reign. They are waiting for this to happen and then flood us with many updates and new products to 'prove' that Apple w.o. Jobs is not dead.

I am not very serious about this specific argument re: the lateness of updates, but I do think they will be preparing for a Jobs to non-Jobs transition. And having a lot of new products after the stock has tanked will help.

Looking forward to seeing a new Mini, with up-to-date specs and nVidia discreet graphics. If it has on-board intel graphics I'll just build a Hackint0sh for the home theater instead. Apple may want consider lowering the price of the Mini as well, by at least $200.00.

A new Chassis design for the Mac Pro would be nice but unplausible I don't think they'll until there's a major leap in specs. Redesigns for the iMac and Mac Mini is slightly more possible though.

This is garbage. Let's hope and pray for steve before burying him ok? He's too young to go, and he's already beaten the cancer.

I'm curious what a major leap in specs would be to you, seeing as we're getting GAINESTOWN next.

Also, I'm curious as to how you'd change the case. Period. I'm having a heck of a time coming up with something radically different.

New iMac is needed but I can only imagine minor speed bumps unfortunately.

I smell disappointment....

It's an iPhone event, y'all. That's all that they want to talk about these days -- didn't you get the memo?

That's why I finally bought a Macbook. The Apple desktop is dead, but I still wanted to run OSX.
