Too little Too late!
Well, how many posts have already remarked that its perhaps too little too late?
I posted recently citing my dismay that Apple could ignore its fan base of long-time existing desktop users by not offering more recent and cost effective updates
heck, I even threatened to head back to the wonderful world of Microsoft because, despite all the pro's of OSX, iLife etc, when you can purchase an i7 quad core XPS unit with 6GB, 1TB, twin 512MB graphics cards and a 24" display for circa £1,400; its hard to justify buying an Apple!
Yes, I know the OS is worth the hundreds of £'s premium; but at the moment, when the hardware is so far behind
well, sorry, but I'd rather have to pay a price premium (i.e. the same spec machine from Apple at £2,000) than a hardware one (i.e. I'm dammed if I'm going to shell out £1,000+ on a dual core machine thats reaching its end of days (or likewise pay £2,000+ for a Mac Pro!)
Thats it isn't it - Apple used to be the innovator that offered current spec machines at a higher price because of style and quality of software. But these days, we have a manufacturer that offers old technology at high prices - I mean, we've seen no updates on iMacs for nearly 12 months now so its really taking the mickey in these hard times for a manufacturer not to offer products for those wanting. As for all those people who say Apple are cash rich so can do what they like; they need to go to business school because even stupid knows that if you dont build it, no one can buy it!
Suffice to say, unfortunately for the 3rd time in 2 years, I've just been made redundant; so that £1,000+ that I've had in my pocket since selling my white iMac in January (hoping for new models at MacWorld) will now end up going on a sub £500 windows PC and some bills. And hey, before any fan boy says 'why dont you buy a Mac mini on eBay', yeah, and whilst I'm at it I'll also look to sell my car and buy a 1970 Capri for £3,000!
Point to the post is, Apple have lost my money due to their delays and lost a fan
how many more has this affected! Other manufacturers (I'm thinking Hackintosh)
now is the time to strike!
.. and P.S. - even if we do see new iMacs tomorrow ... unless these are quad core machines, Apple may as well close down their desktop manufacturing plant now!
