no, instead of getting rid of the Air will add another oneHow about they change the name? Get rid of the “Air” moniker since it’s just silly at this point, not to mention confusing for new buyers.
Will people be disappointed if Mark Gurmans M4 predictions are wrong? Does the Pro and the Air need different SoC then the base M3?Not too sure which chip the Pro will be getting. If the iPad Pro does get the M4, then the Air is likely to get M3.
Folks that recently bought the M3 might be salty: phones, MacBook's, the desktops, the AI innovation seem to be much bigger than switching to ARM in terms of making some of the hardware obsolete.M4 on Pro models, I think it’s true. There have been too many flops for Apple lately. Now, they are on the verge of missing the AI train due to them sticking to their ridiculous AR/VR hype which is not providing value for anyone.
They need to get in on the game and they need had it done yesterday. They are no longer hot in any area. Showing off the M4 so soon after the M3 release and put AI marketing on it will lead masses to believe they haven’t lost their touch, rather they are churning out new products.
the switch to M1 will still be bigger, the AI innovation just for 2024 will be small and not all in. so expect AI to take 2-3 years for Apple to do something very usefulFolks that recently bought the M3 might be salty: phones, MacBook's, the desktops, the AI innovation seem to be much bigger than switching to ARM in terms of making some of the hardware obsolete.
like what? 😏Of course, if the vibration is made controllable by apps, it could find a whole lot of other uses…
i suspect it will completely revolutionize how we interact with computers.the switch to M1 will still be bigger, the AI innovation just for 2024 will be small and not all in. so expect AI to take 2-3 years for Apple to do something very useful
ai will most likely fundamentally change how we interact with computers. it will be far more than some small insert into the os. they will probably reimagine what a computer os is and it will take more than three years.M4 on Pro models, I think it’s true. So no AI for the Air? Somehow all this M4 discussion doesn't make sense to me. It would also stop many people buying a Mac with an outdated SoC. And in the fall we get the M5? 6 month cycle? Not too sure which chip the Pro will be getting. If the iPad Pro does get the M4, then the Air is likely to get M3.
There isn't even a killer AI app available yet. But unfortunately AI will be a big reason for apple to discontinue older apple silicon chips for upcoming OS's.Folks that recently bought the M3 might be salty: phones, MacBook's, the desktops, the AI innovation seem to be much bigger than switching to ARM in terms of making some of the hardware obsolete.
They said the same a decade ago when tablets were on the rise. And 10 years later people still buy Macs.i suspect it will completely revolutionize how we interact with computers.

I would have called BS on this rumour, except it is specific and widespread enough that if it is not true, Apple would have leaked a denial at this point. So I’m inclined to believe it, unless there are strong denial rumours within the next couple of days. Will people be disappointed if Mark Gurmans M4 predictions are wrong? It’s “AI” man! All hail the fake ai overlords. It will give you a 4 hr work day, and a 4 day work week. So you spend more time with your famil…. I mean Vision Pro!I wonder how many iPad users feel the CPU is problematic in any way. It seems to me that software is in most cases. For pretty much anything I want to do on the mac, there are plenty of well supported, often open source options. On the iPad, I see subscription based apps that interact poorly between each other or with the cloud that they crucially depend on. While this does not change, I do not understand the hype here. Why should I care the next gen gets M3 or M4 ?
I didn’t realize I was talking to Tim Cook himself … I was just expressing my humble desire as one of your loyal customers for over 30 years and having the frustration to have to switch from one machine to another to be productive … Common sense and full wallet is what got us the idea from Bro …The point is Apple is not intending for the iPad to replace the MacBook (I don’t know where people got that idea from), instead to complement the MacBook. (Or be an alternative for people who don’t want a traditional desktop OS computer in the first place.)
Apple has been very inconsistent on this. With M1 and M2, they introduced them on lower Macs first. With M3, they introduced them in the high level laptops first and didn’t put them in their lower machines until much later. With inconsistency like this, it wouldn’t surprise me if the M4 came out in iPad Pros first.Has Apple ever released its fastest chip first in the iPads before?
Yeah this is the reason this M4 on iPads doesn't make sense... I think they prefer to sacrifice the new upcoming iPad line still with boring M3 chips (less AI capable), than going full in M4 and removing a huge chunk of sales on Macs that were just released with M3...So no AI for the Air? Somehow all this M4 discussion doesn't make sense to me. It would also stop many people buying a Mac with an outdated SoC. And in the fall we get the M5? 6 month cycle?
Electric toothbrush.like what? 😏
