True, it's inflammatory, and it's their choice who they talk with. But it still seems like that this was payback for the "something rotten"-article rather than him rudely criticizing corruption. Either way, it doesn't paint Apple in a good light either.
At some point, if we normalize this level of personal vulgarity under the banner of “criticism,” we’re not raising the standard we’re flushing it. You can absolutely be sharp, even brutal, without diving into juvenile insults. If someone wants to be taken seriously, they should act like they want to be part of a serious conversation.

Every time I hear that so-called chief engineer at Apple speak, I feel sick. It’s frustrating knowing my house is packed with Apple gear. Most of it is practically useless thanks to Siri, and this might be the last straw. I wasn’t planning on buying anything new for a while, but I’m seriously tempted to give the other side a try. 🫩

I'm curious... How are all of the Apple devices in your house rendered *useless* due to Siri?

"I wasn’t planning on buying anything new for a while, but I’m seriously tempted to give the other side a try."

I say go for it and find happiness. If I was that unhappy I certainly would. Stat!

why is IJustine still relevant, never saw such a downfail in clicks and relevance
Because she's cute and very pretty, an antithesis to the nerd world she operates in. No wonder she get clicks despite her empty content. She grabbed my attention in the beginning and not gone lie, i watched a few of her videos but after the initial interest, I just can't put myself to consume her content. lol

It wasn’t Gruber’s criticism...

Good point. There are times when Gruber puts up multiple posts in a row are about non-tech and Appleley stuff. That's fine - it's his site. But at some point you wonder if companies just want to steer clear of that.

Based on the previous MacRumors article about Siri and AI possibly being done in the spring of 2026 I'll be staying on Sonoma until then. That might give them time to debug Tahoe and its new user interface as well.

I'll give iPadOS 26 a trial on the iPad though. Mine is incapable of AI so it should be safe to try the new version.

Sequoia or Sonoma? I'd recommend upgrading to Sequoia if you haven't already.

Joanna Stern wasn't pulling any punches, I feel like her interview (from what I've seen so far) was tougher than anything Gruber ever did.
Makes me wonder if Apple actually sidelined Gruber bc it would be like they only wanted a soft interview.

Have not watched all these videos. Planning to see it over the weekend. Should be interesting to see! Hopefully when the improved Siri launches, it will perform well.

They've said multiple times in these interviews that the contextual Siri last year was a working demo and not fictitious which is what Gruber accused the of so I feel that article he wrote really touched a nerve.

In fact they've made a point of going to multiple different interviewers apart from him this year. Last year I believe it was just Gruber that got an interview with Craig and Joz.

Again, has anyone checked on him? Can't feel great to be jilted like that from a company you have a life long love for and had such access to.

And yet nobody seems to have seen that demo, including sources John has inside the company.

I'm with you. I also think they're ********ing when they say what they showed was a working demo, everyone knows everything in these keynotes isn't real and is produced to death.

Still what I do believe them on is they genuinely had something working internally and had confidence it could be shipped in the next year, otherwise why else would you do it? I don't believe the intentionally set out to deceive
