There's a big problem with "Find Your Colors"…
…and that is that none of the colors Apple / Jony picked are anything close to the colors I like, at all.

Here's my counterproposal for colors I came up with a few months ago:

Come out with these, and the phones will sell themselves. I'd pick up a blue one, personally….
Who said Apple wants you to buy the 5C? Maybe they'd rather encourage you to buy the 5S?

Furthermore, Apple's color scheme perfectly matches the case so that no clashing combinations exist. Your half-baked scene does not. Apple's colours also complement iOS 7. Your do not. Finally, unlike you Apple tests their picks. My bet is people would get tired of your colours a lot faster and they would look dated sooner.

It's not to expectations

I will bet things will be different for the next round

Lol to who's? No one said it would outsell the 5S. It's beating pretty much everything else?

No it's not selling as well as a $350 5C but that was a made-up prediction that never came true.

I see ads for the iPad Air on The Verge. Does that mean it's a flop too? Then I guess that means Samsung Galaxy products are huge flops because I see advertising for them everywhere. :D

Ha

Josh tapolski may think so. He's turned into an apple realist and not an apologist

Well obviously Tim Cook and his team expected the 5C to sell more, as he stated himself a while ago. And that's what makes me and some others wonder. As soon as I saw the price I thought that it won't become a mega seller - it was easy to predict, why didn't the guys at Apple see that too? Again referring to the statement that he made in January:

While the phone itself being the redesigned iPhone 5 is perfectly fine, the pricing compared to the 5S obviously made it fail to become a huge success. But sure, it's a "fail" on a high level. I think it'd be a smart idea to lower the price drastically now that people are aware of the 5C itself.

Sorry but looking at the colours you painted the iPhone's in just makes the colours Apple chose for the 5c look so much better. Apples colour pallet for the iPhone 5c is much easier on the eye.

I still don't understand how you're measuring success? Was it ever thought it would outsell the 5S? No. It's outselling pretty much every other phone out there and contributed to the largest sales numbers Apple has ever seen.

So forgive me but I fail to see how analyst predictions of a cheap iPhone have any bearing on the current success of the actual device.

I think if someone were to tell Tim Cook that the 5S would be the best selling smartphone in the world in the time after it's release and that the 5C would be second or third in all major US carriers, he would label that success.

Too bad Apple doesn't release actual breakdowns. I've started to see a lot of 5Cs in the wild though.

The colors of the 5C and iOS7 sure look dated fast. That's what happens when you chase trends instead of sticking with well though out elegant design.
iOS 7 is the fanny pack of OS design.

Cook's statement and Apple's initial production also implies he expected the 5S to sell less. Now how big the shortfall in 5C sales was compared to the surplus of 5S sales is something that only a few people at Apple know. Without that info, you know nothing. If the 5S surplus is bigger than the 5C deficit, Tim Cook is a very, very happy man as the former is more profitable. If that is not the case, expect Apple to make changes come the fall. Time will tell. 5C sales simply can't be looked at in isolation.

Incidentally, even if the 5C is being outsold 4:1 by the 5S, it is selling better than the Galaxy S4 which is Samsung's flagship, is heavily advertised, and is built with much newer technology. The S4 is the true failure story.

Yeah, that's supposed to be a computer UI.

My wife has a 5c and loves it. I prefer it too. The square cornered slab was never comfortable in my hand. I much prefer the shape of the 5c with its smooth rounded back side. I like the colours too, she has a blue and I'll either get blue or green when its time to update my phone (likely in another year or so).

Who's expectations? Did Tim Cook tell you that?

Ah, so if companies do advertising for their products that means the products are a failure?

iPhone 5c is doing very well in the marketplace and is a truly magnificent phone to behold. It's exciting that Apple continues to push this product forward with innovative marketing campaigns.

Yeah, that's supposed to be a computer UI.

You chose to feature something non-grotesque, ...show the home screen or other atrocities. Change for change;s sake does not make something automatically better or less dated, on the contrary. The over the top leather stitching could have been eliminated or toned down, but that never made it bad design, iOS7 on the other hand, IS bad design.

It doesn't seem that the rumors of them killing it off after this cycle are true.
or maybe they want to get rid of the huge un-sold stock of 5cs?
I rarely see anyone using 5c in daily life..as opposed to frequently spotting 5ss'...

Source?

Even Tim Cook says otherwise.

But if you want to think otherwise, go ahead and live in your fantasy of delusion.

The 5C is the second best seller on 2/4 of the major US carriers behind the 5S. On the other two it's third behind the GS4.
source? I don't think 5c is selling better than GS4.it's probably the second best selling Apple phone (of the two models :D )
The 5C is selling just fine. If they didn't see any benefit to the added marketing they wouldn't do it.
you ignore the fact that sometimes manufacturers basically have to boost advertisements to encourage people to buy a product that isn't selling well and is gathering dust in their warehouses..

Dang. That's some seriously ugly junk.

very possible! but do they have that many left over that they are making a huge marketing campaign to get rid of them?
