In my eyes the iPhone 5c is clearly for the Chinese market. These pastel colors are so off putting from Apple. It would be fine by me if they didn't force the same feel on the European customers as well by the design of iOS 7. The kindergarten icons and the same colors are not suiting the premium feel of the iPhone 5/5s. It was so trivial to leave behind the leather skinning and opt for bold colors and high-tech, less textured materials in Ui design. Even the good concepts can't shine because of this childish and inconsistent design. I mean for example the "in glass" carved icons in control center would be great, parallax is a nice feature for fun sake, and some of the flatter design choices are welcome that reduce that too much sugarcoat on some UI elements. I think Apple has lost some of its high tech feeling in UI design years ago, somehow went for cute and a bit childish. I am not sure I like that. I always had iPhones, but as much of an Apple fan I am I have to say a a stock Android on a Nexus 5 looks more modern. I don't like admitting that!:p

I don't get the perception that the 5C has somehow failed. There was a report a few months ago that said it was the 2nd or 3rd best selling phone on the 4 major US carriers, sometimes switching places with the Galaxy S4.

Apple probably did initially think that the sales between the 5C and 5S would be more evenly split, but most users went for the flagship. Doesn't mean the 5C didn't sell well at all though.

There's a big problem with "Find Your Colors"…
…and that is that none of the colors Apple / Jony picked are anything close to the colors I like, at all.

Here's my counterproposal for colors I came up with a few months ago:

Come out with these, and the phones will sell themselves. I'd pick up a blue one, personally….

Very nice colors. But I like my Lime Green phone cause it matches my Ford Fiesta...

But the rumor mill says the 5C is being canned.

exactly, thats why they need to sell as many as they can before they cancel them so they dont end up with warehouses full of useless colorfull phones that nobody wants.

source? I don't think 5c is selling better than GS4.it's probably the second best selling Apple phone (of the two models :D )

you ignore the fact that sometimes manufacturers basically have to boost advertisements to encourage people to buy a product that isn't selling well and is gathering dust in their warehouses..

Ehh it was in the last quarter they have data for - or at least as well.

http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/12/12/apples-iphone-5s-remains-by-far-the-top-selling-smartphone

I'm not ignoring that fact - simply stating that I don't think Apple, a company concerned with profit margin and revenue, would dump a bunch of advertising money into a product they thought was a loser.

The 5C isn't blowing anyone doors off - but its selling better than people here make it seem. Too bad Apple doesn't release breakdowns of sales numbers.

BS your BS ;)

Might be with whom or where you hangout. From my experience I see a lot of 5s and very very few 5c, and trust me it a lot easier to pick the 5c due to their colors.

Don't forget people who buy the 5c are less likey to get a case to cover it all up.

I've seen lots of 5Cs out in the wild - probably more than 5Ss....though as you say, its much easier to spot a 5C.

Still see lots of 4/4Ss too.

Apple never though they'd be evenly split.....just like they've always known the newer model would outsell the older model even with the price decrease.

The 5C is a re-packaged 5 that's cheaper for Apple to make. That's it. They likely estimated they could sell a few more 5Cs than the 5 because of the issues the 5's design presented and the fact they could target the marketing of the 5C and make it "seem" new.

But they never thought it would be on par with the 5S. Anyone who thought that is delusional.

Was it? Now the dust's settled seems half my friends, who aren't phone nerds, seem to be getting them as network upgrades.

Wasn't that what it was for? A moderately cheaper phone for those not interested in the cutting edge?

The 5c is a big seller. The fact that Apple managed to tempt more to the 5s than it anticipated is hardly a failure.

Okay it's a "hobby" product like the Apple TV

The amount of straight-up hate the iPhone 5c gets from some of the crazier fanboys is hilarious. It's almost like its mere existence offends them somehow and devalues Apple in their eyes.

The 5c colours are horrible IMO.
Apple should have used these colours instead:

I don't know, I really doubt the 5c was a failure. Maybe to the stock people and whoever writes the sales rumors...

I see just as many 5c's as I do 5 and 5s.

I call bs on your bs. I rarely see the 5c and it is easy to tell a 5/5s from a 5c.

Firstly, lol, I said that it's hard to tell a difference between a 5/5s not a 5c.

I have seen tons of 5/5s out and 5c's. I just can't say that I've seen tons of 5s because they look like a 5 just with a different home button and the led flash.

Oh yes I agree. The 5 c's I see are caseless, but what I said was it's difficult to tell a difference between the 5/5s....

Like in my local mall and local Apple stores there are a lot of all 3 of these phones

This design (or the one after this with a little bit larger screen) has better better design the the current generation nano. Not sure what happened to their design team, a little hit and miss.

Just saw a horrid youtube bumper with a blue and pink case with "99 Luftbaloons" playing. Then it said "99 Luftbaloons. iPhone 5C. ". What crack MAL copywriter came up with that tag?
