It's working for me right now in the US Store, including updating the price as I change options.

I have a base model + 16 GB RAM being delivered today. I'm not sure I care about missing out on upgrading the CPU...

rMBP and Mountain Lion

Have recent rMBP purchasers begun to receive their computers with Mountain Lion pre-installed, or are they still shipping with Lion and a redeem code for ML?

(last year my significant other bought an iMac ~3-4 weeks after Lion had come out but it still shipped with Snow Leopard installed.)

So people are still seeing the new options? They're gone for me in any store I look at...U.S., Canada, Australia, UK, Germany.

Are you also seeing the new Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter? It went live earlier today, but there now seem to be conflicting reports on whether or not it was pulled. It doesn't show for me.

Unless I've missed something and the difference between the base and the high end is just the CPU bump and the 512GB SSD, then if you took the base and upgraded just those two parts you'd end up saving $40 if you BTO'd the base to the high end.

EDIT: apparently the Australian store has trouble with it's pricing. The photos below left are of the education pricing. Upgrading the base to high in education results in $40 'saving'. In the normal online store, going from base to high results in it costing $20 more. Pretty funny fail.

This is absolute crap! I'm on the UK store and it still shows the ability to upgrade. I would have certainly upgraded to 2.6GHz for £100! Apple really screwed us here. If this had been an option five months down the line, maybe I'd feel differently about it, but this is just an insult, particularly since I had to wait a month for my computer to arrive in the first place!

It's definitely still there in the UK store. Not seeing the thunderbolt to firewire adapter, but there is a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. That's not a new addition as far as I remember though.

This is interesting.

This makes it cheaper, for me, as a college student.

I get the $200 off, plus the processors are discounted with the "base"

A 2.6ghz, 16gb ram and 512 ssd is 2719 as the "base" model and 2779 as the upgraded model.

Mine hasn't shipped yet, how can I change my order other than cancelling it and re-ordering again because I don't want this gorgeous display on my hands any later:confused:

i don't know how's the customer service in UK, but can't you give it back as soon as it arrives? if you need the extra power (saving lot of money compared to the 2800$ version) then just do it. you've waited a month, you can wait another one :p

edit: anyway to me it seems more clever to just have one model in the online store, with complete bto possibilities, rather than two different models and crippled bto options (as usual at apple's though).

Just cancel it and reorder. The wait is so little now. Another week or two without the computer is worth the upgrade for what I think is a reasonable price. Going from 2.3 to 2.6GHz for only £100 is something I definitely would have done.

I cancelled my original order of the base model after hearing about this earlier today. Due to the bank, I cannot re-order the new option until the 'hold' on my debit card is withdrawn... I hope these options stay until the weekend which is when I should be able to re-order.

I've saved the configures option to my basket, just in case :)... That way it's something to fall back on if they do pull the options again
