Apple plans to hold an event to introduce the iPhone 16 models, the next-generation Apple Watch models, and new AirPods on Tuesday, September 10, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

After the September 10 unveiling, the devices will launch on Friday, September 20. With that timeline, we can expect new software like iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia to come out a few days ahead of the September 20 hardware launch.

Apple has not yet officially announced the date for its September event, with Gurman instead citing sources familiar with Apple's plans. Apple is expected to send out media invites as soon as next week.

The iPhone 16 models will include more powerful A18 chips that work with Apple Intelligence, and the entire iPhone 16 lineup is expected to support the new iOS 18 update. Apple plans to make the display of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max slightly bigger, and all four models will get a new Capture Button for taking photos.

Standard iPhone 16 models will adopt the Action Button for the first time, and there is an improved Ultra Wide 48-megapixel camera coming to the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

As for the Apple Watch models, we are expecting an Apple Watch Series 10, a new version of the Apple Watch SE, and a refreshed Apple Watch Ultra. There are design changes in the works for the standard Apple Watch, with Apple set to introduce a thinner design and larger displays.

AirPods 4 are coming as well, with Apple planning to debut two models for the first time. The lower-end model will be similar to the current AirPods, while the higher-end version will include Active Noise Cancellation.

For more on Apple's upcoming products, we have dedicated iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, AirPods 4, and Apple Watch roundups.

Sometimes I feel like this year went by slowly, but other times it feels like yesterday when I was watching the iPhone 15 event in a hurry as the plane was about to takeoff. Boarding was crazy to say the least. And then checking this site as soon as I landed. Time flies (I think that’s an event)

Now that we have USB-C, I genuinely unsure of what Apple can put in new iPhones that will convince me to upgrade — and I’ve owned every iPhone (except iPhone 5) since the original.

The only thing I can think of, would be if Apple released a smaller Pro model or a foldable — and that’s either not happening, or years away. Upping the dimensions from the 15 Pro guarantees that I’m likely not upgrading.

… I miss my 12 mini.

I have an Apple Watch Series 4? Its looking rough and I think it might be time to upgrade. I wonder how long people tend to hold onto their watches. I could probably keep it until it no longer receives OS updates.

I'll upgrade from my 13 PM just to have every device on USB-C. I think Apple may be baking some of this into their guidance for 16 sales. I know another person in the same boat.

I'd really like to get a new Apple Watch.

Anyone know how much of a discount I can expect on Ultra 2 going on clearance?

It's -$100 right now but even more would be great.

I have a 6 and I’ll probably upgrade. Seems sluggish now to me and the screen doesn’t respond as quickly as I like. Or maybe my fingers are dying.

Hmm, is it worth upgrading JUST for Apple Intelligence though. That’s the main thing. Not saying the new CPU won’t be whizzy and the like. Maybe hold off another year or so.

[Drone camera lowers toward Tim Cook who is standing by wildflowers.] "Good morning, and welcome to Apple. If you already own an Apple Watch Ultra, congratulations on selecting one of our most popular Apple Watches ever-- for our most active of customers. Since your Apple Watch Ultra and iPhone mini are still both incredible devices, there will be nothing for you to buy this year, but grab some refreshments and enjoy the show."

Probably not just for that feature. It's largely in Beta until 2025 and even then all features will be rolled out through late 2025.

Is there a good reason to thin that the higher-end version won't be a long overdue update to the AirPod Pros?

Two generational updates to the AirPods since the AirPods Pro 2 were released and *adding* another version in-between the AP and APPro... doesn't really make sense?

My biggest feature request for new Pros would be a flanged tip option.

I’m not upgrading my Apple Watch until Apple activates the blood oxygen sensor again. I’ll continue to use my Apple Watch Ultra1 for the time being. I have AppleCare+ so I’ll get a replacement once the battery reaches 79%. As for the 16PM, I’m not upgrading unless Apple releases a Rose Gold variant.

I'm hoping that they'll announce a settlement and the return of the feature, or just quietly return the feature (not mentioning the settlement) on release of the OS upgrade...
