It brings me much joy that despite not being mentioned at all in the article and only being shown incidentally in the accompanying obligatory image, the iPhone SE still enjoys most of the chatter in this thread.

Apple, please listen.

I do wonder if we have not hit peek iPhone. Another $1000 iPhone to upgrade to, that is almost like the $1000 iPhone I am still paying for. I don't see how this goes on every year unless the volumes are expected to drop.

My guess is that the Plus this year will be priced like the X was last year. The new X2 (or whatever it is called) will be lower priced, and the SE will be cheap in comparison, if it happens.

Okay so we are supposed to call the iPhone X the "ten" right? (not 'eks'). So is the iPhone X2 the "iPhone ten-two" ? What happens in 2020 when there is the iPhone "ten-four" ? Won't that confuse our CB radio friends?

I was just wondering the same thing. Maybe they want people to call it the "ten squared" or something, but I think it'll be the 12 and they'll skip 11 if they name it X2.

An iPhone 8 isn’t much bigger, and it today’s market considered an ideal size. Probably better specs too.

Not saying one size fits all but you do understand an extremely small size of people want something smaller.

Not true. The same reasons Apple used for the release of the SE still apply today. There is a significant subset of the user base that is more comfortable with a 5(S) handset size, and their hands haven't magically grown bigger in 3 years' time.

Time Cook said the X has been the #1 selling iPhone model. The only person lying here is you, trying to twist what someone said.

And what do FM antennas have to do with this article? Oh right, nothing. Just another lame attempt to try and bash Apple by bringing up something completely irrelevant.
Oh man, Tim is right because. Because he’s TIM. So if he determines the AirPower to be the best selling wireless charger Apple ever built - it is like that. Because. Because ?
Yes, because they didn’t build it - so don’t need to sell (apparently)

Lots of baby hands on this forum, apparently. lol.

I have small hands, that's not my fault. I just want something I can use comfortably with one hand.

I miss 2007-2013 sized iPhones.

Whenever Apple does to try and overcome some bottlenecks, they usually introduce another.

This should be interesting.

dat iPhone SE 2. want.

Curved.de has more mockups:

Honestly, this thing looks perpetually futuristic—like, remember in 2006 when Apple was believed to be making a touchscreen iPod that become the iPhone? Remember reduced-bezel mockups from 2014? Here they are.

Exactly right, it’s the size. I’m not composing literature with my thumbs (which can’t even reach across the screen of my 8) and I’m not watching “high-def” movies on an iPhone. I want an easily pocketable one-handed device. I just found my old 4 and it was absolutely perfect.

I LOVE my SE for the form factor and size. Any guess as to the screen size if they keep the body the same size but remove bezels?

I like the mockup for the SE2, I am indifferent to the notch, but I love the squared edges! I never like the rounded edges of my old 6s Plus.

Exactly. The size.

At least for me, the price was not a factor to get the SE. Still, why not, was real nice to get it for "cheap". :D

Also, the 3.5mm jack is truly appreciated. :)
This was me also. I "downgraded" from a 6s Plus due to me hating the size of the phone. It was impossible to one-hand the phone, and the rounded edges would make the phone "pop" out of my hands all the time.

Apple goes where the market goes. It’s clearly obvious consumers want larger screens.

Not saying it’s better or worse. Same reason the plus is so successful. Same goes for the note and Galaxy.

I have big hands, actually. But I hate big devices because I can't use them with one hand. You end up having to hold them in a weird way to reach all corners of the screen, which increases the risk of dropping it, or you end up using the stupid software workarounds like "reachability" and the one-handed keyboard just to make it work.

Back when Apple still designed for actual user needs, they even made an ad about it:

The other thing is that not everyone wants a huge device in their pocket.

Here’s a perfect example of fake news being spread around, “Apple wants to avoid last year’s supply bottleneck.” All the tech blogs are printing this as established fact. What bottleneck? All we had were analyst’s opinions based on their “supply chain” sources, hardly verified facts. Apple never released a statement saying this was the case. No hard facts but here we are as if it is unquestionable.

Sure, I mean if Apple can't make money fast enough then I guess that is an issue.

Except that now since iPhone X demand is soft the manufacturing bottleneck really was never the core issue.

I don’t understand another SE or the desire? Maybe just for size? Cause I should would rather buy a discounted iPhone X or 8 plus next year if I wanted to save some money.
My buddy has one and LOVES it, feels all the others are too big. Plus, he has one of those one handed round rubber appendages on the back to help with one hand typing.

I don't get it, I have short fingers and can use my plus one handed.

Hold on - if demand for iphone 8, 8+ and X are lower than expected - how will ramping up production earlier make any difference to that? Demand doesn't go up because you made more..

It’s clearly obvious consumers want larger screens.

Ask any consumer, they'd admit to wanting a larger screen in a form factor they can comfortably use. Not to carry an unpocketable mini tablet. That's how the whole war on bezels started anyway.

Same reason the plus is so successful. Same goes for the note and Galaxy.

No, that's not the only reason the Plus is successful. Dual camera and improved battery are major motivators. Most users will also openly complain about its humongous size (esp. iPhone 8 with its jumbo bezels in 2018).

As for Samsung/Galaxy, you see that its size has actually shrunk since they've been gradually eliminating the bezel.

Apparently it's difficult for you to understand that a CEO can't lie about facts during an earnings call.

Apparently it's also difficult to understand the $800 ASP for the iPhone last quarter, which can only be achieved by selling a large quantity of the iPhone X. Math doesn't lie. Unlike so many forum posters.

All different size displays will just cause more fragmentation and headaches for devs. Too bad Apple can’t design iOS to automatically adjust resolution and screen size to fill the display.
