That spontaneously stopped working for me a while before this update.Working great on my phone; but since the update, I can no longer unlock my Mac with my watch.

What makes you think we're out of this in a month? Maybe in your gated community it won't feel like much but in lots of places we got lots of work to do!Feature arrives 1 year after the pandemic started, 1 month before it ends. Nice timing.
Lol think about what you said. You need to look at the phone either way. Restriction? What? 🤯But why only unlock with your watch if you are wearing a mask? Why not masked or maskless? It seems like a pointless restriction.
Hahaha I have to concur. What makes you think we're out of this in a month? Maybe in your gated community it won't feel like much but in lots of places we got lots of work to do!
And you do know there's a lot of the rest of the world where it's going to be going on for a long while to come, right?

I hate FaceId
TouchId was simply great.
Exactly, any app requiring Face ID will not work.Kinda stupid how you have to activate it within the settings app. Should've just been automatically turned on when the update went through. Not everyone will even know about this feature because they don't pay attention to tech that much.
This feature doesn't solve much. You still need to use your passcode or password for all of the apps within the phone after you unlock it with the watch.
Banking apps, authenticator apps... those will not workMine doesn’t do this? It unlocks via watch and all apps etc work as well as not having to input the passcode without the mask after

I only got an Apple Watch six months ago, but had an iPhone with Apple Pay for years and years. I haven’t used Apple Watch Apple Pay as I forgot it even exists after four years of Apple Pay on iPhone 7.If you already have an Apple Watch and it’s with you at the grocery store while wearing a mask, why not just use the Apple Pay on your Watch…? I don’t get what the problem is with all of these people crying that it doesn’t work with Apple Pay. You have Apple Pay setup on your phone, but not your watch? What is the logic behind that? The security risk of authenticating Apple Pay on the phone this way is far greater than whatever “inconvenience” you people might be feeling. Setup Apple Pay on your Watch! That’s what it’s there for! Double clicking the side button is much faster than pulling out the phone anyway.
Your health data is backed up on your phone when you reset your AW. It will come back after the reset. My Apple Watch Series 3 has 4.1 GB usable space, and the watchOS 7.4 update needs 3 GB to install (but i need to download only around 660 MB). So, either I reset my AW and lose all the health data, or I won't update. Really, Apple?
Unfortunately, Activity trackings and streaks are gone after the reset. I reset my watch a few times already and it never worked for me.Your health data is backed up on your phone when you reset your AW. It will come back after the reset.
Honestly, the ONLY reason I needed to unlock my phone with a mask on is to use the Face ID on phone for Apple Pay to pay for something when I was in an establishment and had to wear a mask.
this doesn’t even work for that and that’s the main use case during COVID
aside from this it’s kinda useless
useles1. It works perfectly while wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet. This is a great feature for those of us who ride.
2. I have traveled to Japan an average of 6 times a year for 20 years before the pandemic. Once travel there resumes again, they will surely be using masks in public into the foreseeable future- their use has always been widespread anyway, during pollen season or when a person has a cold.
3. See Europe, above.

Face ID works on mine with 3 different pairs of sunglassesWish it would work with sunglasses too.
Does it work for apps that use Face ID, such as banks, or payment apps? Or is it just to unlock the iPhone?
It's worth noting that Unlock with Apple Watch only works for unlocking the iPhone. It does not verify identity for use with Apple Pay, passwords in Keychain, or password-protected apps, which will require either Face ID or your passcode.
What? But why only unlock with your watch if you are wearing a mask? Why not masked or maskless? It seems like a pointless restriction.
They already haveMasks aren't going away any time soon.
Don’t use the feature then. I’m betting TouchID will be back in iPhone 13. Then you can complain about how you need to spend $XXXX to get TouchID back or something like that.Hmm, $229 dongle to unlock with mask on and another device to charge every day or twice a day.

You two need to move a Red state and you can start living a normal life again. Just be sure to leave any blue politics you might have back in the state you came from.Hahaha I have to concur.
“We are out of this in a month”… is the biggest joke I’ve heard in a while.
