Yeah, could be like the 1st gen Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro being totally compatible with the M1 iPad Pro, contrary to Apple’s initial statement. So basically, "well you really just shouldn't use them." If I had AirPods Pro, might as well go with these if they're still physically compatible. Maybe someone should test if there's a difference, but I'd bet it's so minor only a hardcore audiophile could pick up on it.
Pretty much. Just a money grab. Because folks that are getting the tips for free with their new AirPo… wait, so folks that have the old tips that are working, no, they don’t have to buy anything either. No, ahhhhhh… YEAH! it’s because Apple is forcing people to buy the new AirPods if they want the new tips… that’s it! I bet you Apple won’t even make the XS tips avail…A lot more detail that could otherwise be summarised as “profit”.
… I mean, they WILL make them available… for people to buyyyyy, because…You'll have to buy (i.e. Apple wants you to buy) the 2nd gen AirPods Pro to get them even though the XS size can be purchased on their own for your 1st gen AirPods Pro and they unofficially fit.
What brand, etc. do you use? TIA for the 411.
This is all for money. All this is just an elaborate explanation to cover it up.
Worse, the tips don’t fit the AirPods Max. Luckily, the EU will do their deed and step in to force them to make the tips compatible with the Max. (I don’t know where else to put it, so I’ll toss in the obligatory “Timmy” right here.)Right? And the tips don't even fit the regular AirPods.... what monsters they are.
Sounds that way.Did Apple improve the sound quality partly by shielding them less from ear wax ingress?
No. You're missing it.
The 2nd gen AirPods Pro ear tips are not compatible with 1st gen AirPods Pro so if you want/need the XS size for your 1st gen AirPods Pro, sorry, you're out of luck.
You'll have to buy (i.e. Apple wants you to buy) the 2nd gen AirPods Pro to get them even though the XS size can be purchased on their own for your 1st gen AirPods Pro and they unofficially fit.
Despite the mesh differences, the second-generation ear tips do fit the original AirPods Pro, so they are still physically compatible.
You must have some knowledge that allows you to speculate. Spill it.Maybe someone should test if there's a difference, but I'd bet it's so minor only a hardcore audiophile could pick up on it.
What they need is an XL tip. I used the largest ones and they would constantly slip out. I ended up going to the foam ones you can buy on Amazon.
Apple today explained why the new silicone ear tips for the second-generation AirPods Pro are not officially compatible with the original AirPods Pro.

In an updated support document, Apple said the original AirPods Pro ear tips have "noticeably denser mesh" than the second-generation ear tips. Apple did not provide any additional details, but the mesh density could result in acoustical differences.
"Ear tips have been designed specifically for their AirPods Pro generation, to deliver the highest-fidelity audio experience," the support document says. "As a result, use the ear tips that come with your AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro (1st generation) ear tips have noticeably denser mesh than AirPods Pro (2nd generation) ear tips."
Despite the mesh differences, the second-generation ear tips do fit the original AirPods Pro, so they are still physically compatible.

The mesh on the original AirPods Pro ear tips
The second-generation ear tips are available in a new XS option, while the original ear tips remain available in small, medium, and large only. Both generations of ear tips are available on Apple's online store in sets of two for $7.99 in the United States.
The new AirPods Pro will begin arriving to customers and launch in stores over the next day. The first reviews of the new AirPods Pro were shared earlier today, providing a closer look at improvements to sound quality, active noise cancellation, battery life, and more. The second-generation AirPods Pro remain priced at $249.

Or think they’ve picked up on it.So basically, "well you really just shouldn't use them." If I had AirPods Pro, might as well go with these if they're still physically compatible. Folks who either lost one somehow or tore their old ones and purchased a set of 4 for the original Airpod pros. If the new ones someday get lost, torn or what ever why would anyone go out and buy a new set of 4 when I have a perfectly good set in the desk drawer? I’m sure lots of folks have extra sets of original airpod pro ear tips that wouldn’t hesitate to install them on the new Pros someday if they were needed.Who is seriously going to be using an old set of ear tips for a new AirPod Pro? What a strange/stupid reason to claim profit….
Did you not read the article?A lot more detail that could otherwise be summarised as “profit”.
What has to stop? Apple letting us know the sound quality might suffer from using the wrong ear tip? Would you rather they never changed anything and if they did change something not tell us? It is not like they changed the cup shape to make them not fit each other.Bruh this **** gotta stop.
No one read the article, they read the headline and freaked out in the comment section blaming Apple for something they assume based on the headline.BRO you didn't read the article and then complained about someone else not reading the article are you even for real.
You MUST know by now that there’s nothing… absolutely NOTHING that destroys a greed argument against Apple.Did you not read the article?
It clearly states: "Despite the mesh differences, the second-generation ear tips do fit the original AirPods Pro, so they are still physically compatible."
That sort of destroys your whole greed argument. They are just recommending for best sound quality to not swap them between generations.
You are so right! You MUST know by now that there’s nothing… absolutely NOTHING that destroys a greed argument against Apple.Apple could give everyone on this forum 4 dollars and the response would be “APPLE HAS ENOUGH TO GIVE US ALL 5 DOLLARS! Typical money grubbing Apple, giving away less than they could have.”
Steve Jobs would never...Worse, the tips don’t fit the AirPods Max. Luckily, the EU will do their deed and step in to force them to make the tips compatible with the Max. (I don’t know where else to put it, so I’ll toss in the obligatory “Timmy” right here.)
