Lmao.

Us in 10 years.

Siri: Shut off the iRobot.

Siri: I do not understand. Please repeat.

I can’t wait for the Android iRobots vs Apple iRobots fights.
Scenes like that are not funny to me.

That's how conservatives will finally remove all "undesirables".

They'll definitely have the billions of $ to make it happen. #Twitter | #Demolition Man

In yet another scary parallel to the short-lived series Caprica... it's Serge, the Graystone's "domestic helper!"

(The first similarity was everyone retreating into their AR/VR world using Holobands/AppleVision...)

The comments are pretty funny today.

All that aside, I do like that Apple engineers can 'waste' their time on products where some useful stuff can come from it. The hardest things for the robots to solve at Boston Dynamics or MIT is uneven surfaces. Using AI & LiDAR and a new style of mechanism could be a great advancement with projects like this. Cracking this would be game changing.

The first parallel involved Holobands/Apple Vision Pro...

Following around is something. Having the dexterity and coordination to be useful is another. Good human like robots are still years down the road. Maybe a dog . . .
Exactly. Fold my laundry and wash the dishes I’ll pay many thousands of dollars. Follow me around like a iDog and give me garage answers from Siri, no thanks.

DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT.

Not from Apple or anybody else.

Now this is what I’ve been waiting for, no longer will I have to ask Siri what she’s wearing..🥰

Very happy to hear this about where Apple is going. There are many interesting start-ups in this area. It will be interesting to track Apple acquisitions in the robotics space moving forward.

Basically, this is an iPad on wheels. It is USELESS. It solves no real problem.

Robots will be very valuable and easy to sell when they can actually do something other than just move the screen around. No one today has issues with not being able to move an iPad so a self-moving iPad is pointless.

What is needed is a device that can do real tasks, like "Check if UPS delivered the package and bring it inside if it is there." Or how about "Robbie, please clean the bathroom."

What I see here is Apple "going cheap." THey are looking for a cheap to design toy that might sell. What they need to do is find a billion dollars of spare change and invest that is basic research. It is far too early to build a consumer-facing domestic robot. They need a few years of fundamental research. Apple is very poor at this. They prefer to commercialize other people's ideas. This will not work in robots, there is no one to copy or rip off.
