The poor will want this but can’t afford it.
The rich won’t want this anywhere near them.
The middle class is going extinct.

You heard it here first
The ultra rich WILL want robotic/android slaves (who won’t kill them in their sleep, at least not for a century or so), since everyone else will be horribly POOR and resentfully murderous towards their soon-to-be immortal overlords (once the true promise of anti-aging gene therapy and body transplants are perfected…they’ll never die). That’s also part of the ’promise’ of AI. When the global tech billionaires talk about how ‘AI will solve our medical issues’ — they mean FOR THEMSELVES with regard to ageing and dying. The rest of us won’t see the benefits of cancer cures or delayed senescence.

My daughter was talking about robot dog as pet the other day. Wil totally jump on one if there is a good one. Any one has experience with Sony AIBO?
Do you wear your watch 24-7, including when you sleep?
I do. That’s why I upgraded to the Ultra 2 from my SS7. Now I can charge it roughly every other day, and wear it day and night while sleeping. Minus the recharge hour.

Scenes like that are not funny to me.

That's how conservatives will finally remove all "undesirables".

They'll definitely have the billions of $ to make it happen. #Twitter | #Demolition Man
I mean, you’re not wrong, in that this is what so-called ‘conservatives’ would like to do.

But ultimately, once they are no longer useful to the billionaires who have actually bought control of ALL so-called ‘democratic’ or ‘free’ world governments, think tanks with global influence, and media channels, in said ‘free’ countries, they will also be deemed unnecessary and troublesome beyond the value of their obsequiousness.

I think that’s why they don’t actually care about planetary pollution and exhausted resources…if there are only 1 - 10 million people left on the planet, and everything else is roboticized, manned and driven by artificial intelligence, a much smaller habitable zone won’t matter (to the oligarch/humans).

0r possibly a cat. It depends how much of the time it spends sleeping/recharging.
Does it deliver dead rodents to your bed?
Don’t forget ‘gifts’ of dead birds! My cat used to occasionally do this. I don’t even know how he managed — he was an indoor cat!

Apple has apparently wanted to create robots that can "handle chores, like cleaning dishes in a sink," but Gurman said this feat is unlikely this decade due to "extraordinarily difficult engineering challenges."

By the way, dishwashers already exist. For kind of a long time.

Vacuum/mopping robots also exist.

Looks like they're trying to find a way to use all that Project Titan money spent on LIDAR sensors and self-driving algorithms.

Everything to make the world, more lazy, more obese, and obsolete. Sure. Great idea.
Surely you don’t think that in-home personal assistant robots are my idea. But yes, everything since the hammer, all this technology promising to make life easier, also enabled people to be lazy bums. When you’re old and your healthcare is more complicated than you can understand & by then off limits to anyone not earning 7 figures, that robot is also going to be your nurse that enables you to live at all, and bonus, not have to spend your final years under the avalanche of exhausting/dangerous menial household tasks, making it possible to live in your own home.

Love this idea. People can hate all the want.... robots are the future.. restaurants are already using them.. they don't complain and you don't have to pay them anything. Rosie/Rosey approves from the Jetsons!

Pearl never complains... we recently went to a restaurant and it took too long for our server to bring us our food... we will be happy to support restaurants with robots ... plus we save money not having to tip anyone!

When a robot takes your job, how do you afford to go to the restaurant where the robot now works?

'Follows Users Around Their Homes' => Google! is that you?

I mean this time Apple transformed google's dreams into reality

(I've not read all the comments, and don't plan to...)
My first thought was this technology could be used for persons with a disability. Perhaps this is a next step in Apple's healthcare agenda.

Lots of good ideas here. I personally think it should be a drone. It can be extremely useful for a number of things. It can sit on top of your fridge at a charge station with a variety of attachments. It can do a variety of tasks. Record video of Christmas morning or your cooking experiences or keep the camera on you for a FaceTime call while your hands are full at home. Bring me my phone or keys or a pen or other small object it’s able to carry. Chase down and kill flies or mosquitoes. Respond to intruders. Keep the cat or dog out of certain rooms. Being on top of the fridge maybe it can have a water line so it can water the house plants or attempt to extinguish a fire. Maybe it can greet you with excited whistles when you walk in the door. I think a drone with some kind of universal utility port will be developed and people will 3D print endless attachments that will range from pure stupidity to absolute mad genius. If Apple develops the right home drone operating system, they‘ll win big in this space.
