You can do that you know... after you've done the firts effect, just press 'commit', and you're ready to do the next effect.

But I agree, the rest of iMovie is very out-dated.. needs to be upgraded VERY VERY soon..

To use iCAL your web server must support WEBDAV standards!

If you have a unix based server it's easy to install and setup! NT like all Windows SUCKS! Get a new server!

It's not MY server, just hosting i pay for. I know they use Linux, and that I can open my server using Command-K in the Finder (10.2) - does this mean it's webDAV? What should I put into iCal?

Do i specify a page for it? HELP PEOPLE, has anyone published a non-.mac calendar yet?

I'm kinda guessing this means no new hardware 'til next year, probably at MWSF.

Apple Announces Mac OS X-Only Booting For 2003

APPLE EXPO, PARIS—September 10, 2002—Apple® today announced that starting in January 2003, all new Mac® models will only boot into Mac® OS X as the start-up operating system, though they will retain the ability to run most Mac OS 9 applications through Apple’s bundled “Classic” software. There are nearly 4,000 native applications now available for Mac OS X

Great news! However, this might help current PM sales by musicians and hardware/os9 dependant people, as it'll probably be the last lot of PMs to natively run OS9. RIP 9!

Rendezvous looks interesting...

“Apple and Philips share a vision for the future,” said Gerard Kleisterlee, CEO of Royal Philips Electronics. “We both believe that consumers want devices throughout the home to talk to each other, so that, for example, the music stored in iTunes on your Mac can play through the Philips stereo system in your living room, or the photos stored in iPhoto can be displayed as a stunning slideshow on your Philips Flat TV. Rendezvous helps realize this dream. Philips is particularly pleased that Apple has adopted an open standard and architecture for Rendezvous, and we will support Rendezvous in future Philips products.”

I'm so glad I didn't get up early to see this - I can't believe that was it, iCal? Nothing exciting?

Hopefully something new will come along before xmas.....blah!

iCal is SWEET - it's like outlook for PC but almost better! it's perfect for a small design shop, etc. and it's FREE. i havent figured out the publish calendar thing yet. i published to my server fine - but cant find what it FTP'd yet. Havent tested yet :(

my isp doesnt seem to support webdav or something - i can publish to my server but don't get notification that it went alright (not a .mac account). i look at my server and don't see an .lcs anywhere :(

would love it if someone posted up a sample calendar online to see it in action.

to all those having trouble with iCal on their own server. Couldn't you just save it as a local file then upload to your server? I know its not as smooth but is offers the same functionality

Posting to your own server

I don't think it posts a .ics file...it creates HTML.

That way people can view it in a browser...they don't have to have iCal. It must embed the .ics file also, though because people can load your cal into their own iCal if they have it.

Where did you read that?

Doable specs, the 933s have been out for months, ATI 9000s are drop in, and FW2 would save space.

iCAl is not going to get much work in my world. i really have no use for it. If im busy im too busy to write what im busy about on this calendar. Things change in my world ... im a spontaneous creature not so limited to time constraints or what not. I guess this app isn’t my bag. Did apple create anything for the spontaneous people out there? :D

Nope - it "publishes" .ics files; you only get the "HTML" view if you publish to .Mac.

See my example ("published" to a Solaris 8 server running Apache 1.3.26 and mod_dav):

http://calendar.mrbill.net

As you can see, just plain .ics files. I'm currently looking for an application I can put up there that will parse the .ics files into something presentable on a web page.

Printed calendars from iCal are spiffy - I've made a couple of PDFs..

Back from Paris

Hey guys,

I'm back from Paris. Sorry I didn't have any coverage, but I really had _no possibility at all_ to connect to the internet :(

Oh well, whatever, everything is covered very well over here :D

I can post some photos if you like to...
