Unless Apple comes up with something big, this must be one of the biggest spoof of all time!

Why a spoof? Nobody ever said something would be announced today at all. Some guys just saw some curtains and figured something should be announced today. Well, the curtains are apparently still there, so it's still possible :)

Correct. Nobody every did, but Apple is just trying to get a lot of attention with this black curtains still up else they would have been removed already.

and it was a imac g5 then

tick tock

well, no keynote. that means nothing exciting. if there are powermac updates they will be rather lame, otherwise there would be a keynote. maybe it's just the .mac widgets ;)

I wouldn't get too excited - that was with a Keynote, and no some blacked out stands. If it was anything that big, Steve would have done the Keynote.

I'm really curious to see what it is, but as all of the current crop of computers are out ( and it can't be another iBook update - unless they have some coloured cases al la nano black) and the .Mac update has already been announced, I've no idea what it could be....

EDIT: And wasn't that the year Steve couldn't make it due to his cancer? Even then it was on the main stage (I think it was the first Apple unveiling I'd seen), and as these are booths, it really can't be anything as big...

Does anyone - KNOW - what's going on in Paris?

macbidouille.com is down, do you know any other magazine with "live" coverage?

They have to lift those curtains casting shadows over my heart

Amazing how hard it is to just ask WTF is behind a curtain. :D

Maybe we should wait till the famous 9am. It is Tuesday afterall.

ouch, no pb updates yet. if there are none today, i would wait until next week. apple may be waiting for the ipod mini offer to expire before releasing new hardware...

Still nothing...can't anyone just go there with an infrared cam?! :p

Hardmac is back up

Nothing though, the news page hasn't been updated since before the show opened.

But PowerBooks? iBooks? eMacs? Mac Minis? and possibly the iMac? Those are going to be 2006 transition devices.

i want a new imac so bad its not funny, but i am not getting a rev a intel mac. i dont't trust rev a's. so what am i looking at a rev b intel mac ~january 07? i can't wait that long. the next imac update is mine....if there is another ppc imac update.

First of all, hello everybody, my first post to these forums (which almost entirely filled empty spaces during last 50 days, while waiting to become a just-switched mac guy).

I'd just like to point out my thoughts concerning the discrepancies between the hardware update/showcase and the missing of a formal Steve's keynote.

I live in Italy, Europe, and I'm not that certain a keynote would be widely accepted as people in the US seem to do  ; while I think that a keynote is a must for developers' cons and very (very very) big events, I am not that sure it definitely hits the point in an event such a MacExpo in Europe. In France, especially  where higness and spectacular showcases are allowed to french only :p (joking... a bit :D )

The point is: missing keynote does NOT translate in missing update/showcase, at least in Europe  (NOTE: I do NOT have any stats concerning this).

Nonetheless, perhaps we won't see any update and I'll throw myself in the eternal dilemma between iBooks and PB (as I need a mac 'book these days).

iMacs were updated recently. They're probably the best buy in the whole Mac line right now.

I was just hoping we might see a Powermac with maybe dual cores but even better with more RAM, maybe a bigger HD and better graphics card as standard.

Just a bit of a boost would have been nice. :-( <sniff>

I know what you mean - I would have been happy if all the PowerBooks got were higher res screens and double layer dvd burners....

Ah well.....
