"New hardware eluded Apple's presence at Apple Expo Tuesday..."

Looks like that's it for today then.

Looks to me like Apple are going to coast through to that Intel transition without releasing anything interesting at all. :(

Well it looks like i should have ordered my powerbook last week when i had the chance.

So if there are no powerbook updates at this show, then when are they going to update them? I'm in the market for one, but i'm waiting cause the updates were "imminent"

i would recommend not buying until at least the beginning of october...at least that is how long i will wait. if no powerbooks are revealed today, we still have 4 days left of the expo. i also think they may hold off until the ipod mini offer is expired. they may not want a rush of people buying new powerbooks and getting all these free ipod mini's. but then again, they may want the rush so they can clear out the ipod mini's.

tvguru, I have an iBook G4 800 here as well. Its spec says that the maximum RAM is 640 MB. Did you have any problems when upgrading to
1.12 GB? Which brand of RAM do you use?

I put in a kingston 1gig and its the one that the current powerbooks use, sorry can't remember, since the memory is backwards compatible so that if i get a new powerbook it will work for it.

Yeah I'm tempted to wait it out a bit longer. Think Secret seems to think something is coming.

I'm also curious why the UK refurb store is open every day until October 3rd. Why that date in particular?

Steve

Apple needs release dates like the rest of world when it comes to new products.

Hmmm? How do you mean?

3rd October is the day the UK Refurb store stops opening daily.

So I'm saying why that date? Is it to coincide with the release of a new product?

Release dates dont make consumers guess at when new products are coming out... ala XBox 360. Otherwise people would be camping out at the local best buy for months. With release dates, then they know to only starting camping out the week of the release date. :)

Behind the curtain

What are we going to do if that curtain is just hiding a janitor and some cleaning products to tidy the Apple booth after the show?

You never know.

Oh so you're saying that Apple SHOULD give release dates? Sorry... misunderstanding.

Would make life easier for a lot of people on here.

At least tomorrow starts an hour earlier...

so how long is everyone holding out for new hardware to be released (pb's and pm's) before they rush out and buy? i don't "need" a new powerbook, i only want. i can wait a few more weeks. i was hoping new powerbooks would be released today so i could buy me a 17". but no biggie. just a little disappointed as the hype was building and building and building.

i feel like i have blue balls now. :p

One could argue that updates are coming very soon, but they couldn't quite have them ready for the expo, hence why Steve cancelled the keynote. So, technically they could be released as early as next week.

But I haven't heard anything yet about that black curtain - has what's underneath actually been revealed yet, or could they be waiting to reveal something else later in the Expo, or later today?

I like to live on the edge, I bought mine yesterday (15" powerbook) :D

Wait for an update if you want, but you may end up in a an infinite wait loop, while people like me are enjoying our new powerbooks ;)
