Good reminder to cancel my subscription. I forgot I was still on the trial.

Apple TV+ just doesn't stand out compared to Netflix, Amazon, or Disney.
I would've happily paid just to watch For All Mankind when it returns next month, but now I don't have to :)
Netflix: like wading through a sea of garbage to find one gem, Netflix will promptly cancel the gem though
Amazon Prime: I find myself watching it more and more as they are getting more high quality originals
Disney+: I cancelled it once the Mandalorian ended as there was literally nothing else to watch on there, but will likely resubscribe in the future when there are some new (Star Wars?) series

Translation: "We can't convince people to pay $5 for this."
Exactly. I said when they made the first extension. They got a ton of cancellations in front of the end of the first trial. They don’t want to report publicly how few people are willing to pay for it.

My free trial still says that it will expire on February 3. I'll be happy if it gets extended.

I highly recommend people to watch Long Way Up. It is a very nice travel documentary showing South America on electric bikes. Well done.

Update: On January 27, I received a letter from Apple for the trial period extension to July. Super!

I enjoyed The Morning Show and The Long Way Up (having seen the previous two, which are also now on Apple) - it's been a good free trial, but I don't intend to keep it as we already have Netflix and Disney.

I had a reminder in Calendar to cancel it, so thanks for the heads-up!

Apple TV+ loses points for not being available on Windows or other major platforms.

It loses even more points for the quality of content. Not enough for families. Not enough classic content. Nothing that pushes the envelope in terms of storytelling. It's almost as if the content was written by a committee.
it is available on almost all smart TV brands, firestick, etc, and YES YOU CAN watch it on Windows. the problem is that it depends solely on its original new content and there is nothing else.

and all the Marvel movies and all the Pixar movies. Disney+ is brilliant. It's HBO Max I struggle with. What is the point of it?
Disney+ at $7.99 a month is a no brainer for any family with young children. HBO has content but they are not for families and have no flexibility with its pricing.

Am I the only person with a free sub for a year who doesn’t know why he has it. I opened the app a few months ago and it said you have a free 1 year sub due to your new mac. My iMac is 2017. Haven’t enjoyed much on it kind you except text lasso. It I have it until November.

I have the free AppleTV Plus, and honestly I almost wish it would expire so I can cancel it. If I try to cancel it now, I get a warning that I will irretrievably lose the remaining free months, and somehow it just seems foolish to do that.

But I don’t watch it at all. I find it especially weak on comedy. Between Ted Lasso, Central Park, and Raven’s Quest, I couldn’t find a single laugh among them. I get that comedy is subjective and I guess somebody must like these shows, but I don’t. There are tons of comedies (on other platforms) that I do like, so I do have a sense of humor even if it doesn’t match Apple’s.

The content line up isn't compelling enough. The only video streaming service with enough content is Netflix and second is Amazon Prime Video. Even Disney+ only has "The Mandalorian".
Rarely watched Netflix these days. I would unsubscribe to it if I didn't pay just $2 a month. Quantity is not quality.

That said, is this a news or a rumor? There is no link in the original article to provide more information. I need to plan for it since my free trail will end in Feb.

I am still waiting for it to be updated as well. Unless this is not for all countries.

I literally just canceled mine because the free trial was going to expire in less then a month. If I had known it was going to extend I might have held on a bit longer. Oh well no big deal I really wasn't using it anyway.

Apple should consider offering it as a free perk to people who make a qualifying hardware purchase every year.

Would be nice if they did that with lots of things. Maybe not a year, but 30/90 days of free Apple TV+, Music, etc with any large purchase. The same goes for iCloud, a free additional 5GB for buying an iPhone wouldn't go a miss...

Really? I mean it's a pretty arid landscape but the content they have is refreshing. I've seen most of the stuff on it and it's all pretty good. The only one I put off was Ted Laso and boy was that a mistake.
This comment nudged me to finally go try Ted Lasso over the weekend - and it's utterly charming. Thanks.
