This may be the last time of free extension. They have so much content in production that the current content quantity issue will be less obvious once we see the results of all that effort coming online.
I do not watch much tv and yet I liked most shows I sampled. I would cancel my Netflix subscription instead were not for the many multilingual cartoons for my young kids. While Netflix for adults has tons of content, I don’t really like that much, percentage-wise. If it were only for me, I could suffice with Apple TV.
Looking forward to Foundation.

I’m an AppleOne subscriber and have yet to have seen any credits on my account and they’ve extended them for awhile now. Are AppleOne subscribers not included?

I'm wondering the same... I was charged for Apple One today...
today was the first time receiving this email about the credit since I subscribed to Apple One... so maybe it's new for Apple One now with this new extension?

I’ve never even received one of the emails Macrumors has reported people have gotten.

I received it on my billing date for Apple One (which was today).
first time was today even if I subscribe to Apple One on the first day.
so see if you receive it on your next billing day.
My bill day was 01/28 :(

To me this sounds like tv+ isn’t going as well as they hoped

I tried a bunch of stuff. Not for me.

cancelled already
They haven’t got enough content yet. It’s taking time to build up a catalogue. So they’re giving people a free pass as a taster. Give it a couple of years and Apple will be competing with Netflix and Amazon.

I received this email, but I switched to Apple One 2 months ago and have never paid a yearly subscription, either I dont understand what this email is about or Apple is sending it to the wrong people.

I did the free trial of Apple One Premium from November to December. Was first billed December 24th and next bill was January 24th. I did get an email this morning saying I would receive the credit starting February and going through June. No credit in my account but it’s not February yet.

yeah that's true... also February for me (and bill date is Jan 30).

They need to buy some content, there is no way they can produce enough quality/decent content.

Also, they should heavily buy indie stuff.

Which of them have you tired/watched?
I saw some episodes of Amazing Stories (I should finish it) but the general tone of the episodes didn’t catch my interest, and I don’t know why, I enjoyed the old 90’s Amazing Stories, Tales from the Crypt, The Outer Limits, etc...

If there is more sci-fi content I’d like to know, but I’m not sure if I’ll like it. What I’ve seen so far from Apple TV in this year is... boring? Everything is so morally correct, and... I don’t know. I should give Shiamalan’s show a try before canceling, I guess.

CuriosityStream is quite good. Use Promo Code “ReneRitchie” and you get a year of Nebula as well.
Thanks, I will give that a go, but I was asking for more mainstream streaming services. I think Disney+ had Discovery Channel documentaries.

Does this not apply to anyone who started a year free trial during 2020? Still have my original end date.

Watched quite a few shows now and have to say I’m enjoying most of them. I’ve seen far worse on Netflix.

Yup Netflix goes for mass market and just throws stuff at the wall to see what sticks with less of a focus on content quality.

ATV shows to me had plenty highlights already.

I think they view it as an add on to their overall service offerings. I’m personally glad I don’t see older content on there. There are enough channels available replaying older content in my opinion.

Got the same feeling. I don't even know what to watch on Netflix anymore because of all the crappy shows getting released on a daily(?) basis.

When I open something on ATV then I know it'll be good. Quality and quantity both need to be there imo, and for the moment that is what's missing on ATV. If it wouldn't be free then I'd probably sub for 1 month every 3 months or so to keep up with the shows. The quality is there, but the quantity is still missing.

Which shows did you try?

Ted Lasso is probably the best show released in 2020. See and For All Mankind were both great. I also enjoyed The Morning Show. I have not yet watch, but am very much looking forward to: Defending Jacob, Truth Be Told, Servant, Mythic Quest, Greyhound, Fireball, and The Long Way Up.

Also looking forward to Foundation.
Tried morning show(nope)Ted lasso(hated it),greyhound (eh), gave up. 0-3.

why are people so against someone else’s opinion. If you like it great. I don’t.

Apple TV was too late to the scene to be as successful as Netflix, Prime, Mubi or Disney+. By the time it launched all the decent content was available on other services.
