I think they view it as an add on to their overall service offerings. I’m personally glad I don’t see older content on there. There are enough channels available replaying older content in my opinion.

True, but they’re clearly bleeding money and there is really not much light at the end of the tunnel. Now, I know that they have more money than Zeus, but investors and Boards never like wasting money.

Mine in Canada has been extended until near the end of July. I got the email on Wednesday.

I rarely watch it BTW. Apple TV+ is the least interesting of the four streaming services to which I've subscribed. Netflix > Prime > Disney+ > Apple TV+.

I'll will likely cancel Apple TV+ this summer, and maybe Disney+ too.

I haven’t received yet, and my free year expires in February. I will watch a few documentaries and then cancel my subscription, as I’m not interested in their fiction.

Does anyone know about a good streaming service with documentaries? Thank you.
Kanopy (and your public library may give you access to free credits)

And the Mandalorian? And wandavision????
I’d probably re-subscribe to Disney+ in 2022 for a few months, unless the wife vetoes the cancellation this summer. That is why I said “maybe”. But you bring up a good point. Even though there isn’t that much keeping me on Disney+, there are still a few shows there that keep my interest.

Apple TV+, not so much.

It does feed into their overall services department which was never doing better. I get where you’re coming from though - as a tv streamer it’s very early in.

Yeah - I honestly find this the best solution with streaming services. Just subscribe for two or three months, and rotate.

Meanwhile Netflix raises their subscription by $2, and not a single a subscriber flinched.
I wasn’t happy about it but ... out of all the subscriptions I use - Netflix is the one I use the most so ... for now, they have our business. That said, I’m starting to enjoy buying seasons of TV series I like and not feeling pressured to watch them wondering if they’ll be available next week or not.

I’ve been a subscriber of Netflix since it came into being. I wouldn’t say I didn’t flinch. I’m not terribly happy with the price increase and losing access to series every few months or so.

I get Disney+ and Hulu with my Verizon wireless. We did HBO with GOT and then stopped. CBS All Access with Picard then stopped.

I’m subscribed to Apple One.
I usually fill my account with iTunes gift cards bought on deal at Costco.
I received the credit email... how do I verify I indeed received this credit?
I’m also suspicious that they would give it to Apple One subscribers and I also buy credit like that and indeed my balance just went down $30 (premier one), not $25. RIP iTunes at Costco! Hopefully they bring it back somehow!!

Rip Costco iTunes indeed. :( It was always a 50/50 chance of the purchase failing but I loved buying iTunes digitally via the Costco website with my Costco CC. Saved a good bundle of $ on that.

Indeed, if T-Mobile stopped helping me pay for Netflix I’d have to seriously consider dropping it. It’s getting to be ridiculous.

I canceled Netflix after the last hike. Between Disney+, Discovery+, CBS All Access, Prime and ATV+ we have more than enough content without Netflix’s ever-rising prices to keep them in the lineup.

No question there. Cannot wait until Season 2.

Have you tried See and/or Servant? What else have you watched/tried?
Everyone loves Ted Lasso! Defending Jacob was pretty good. Tiny World (was it? With Paul Rudd) was great. The Morning Show was solid. Tehran was excellent. Long Way Up I thought was really interesting... and that’s just TV Shows! And I mean it’s been free for going on two years? Why do people complain so much for a FREE service LOL.

Its called YouTube
I miss those documentaries I remember seeing when I was a kid in the late 80s early 90s. I’ve found some of them on Youtube but I’d totally pay for a service that resurrected the old nature documentaries where it was just hours of nothing but silent footage or documentaries on how things worked. The late 90s and early 2000s had some good “how its made” but ...

I saw some episodes of Amazing Stories (I should finish it) but the general tone of the episodes didn’t catch my interest, and I don’t know why, I enjoyed the old 90’s Amazing Stories, Tales from the Crypt, The Outer Limits, etc...
Anthology shows are hard, as one gets no benefit from recurring characters, and/or on going plot lines. It means every episode has to land perfectly for the show to work.
If there is more sci-fi content I’d like to know, but I’m not sure if I’ll like it. What I’ve seen so far from Apple TV in this year is... boring? Everything is so morally correct, and... I don’t know. I should give Shiamalan’s show a try before canceling, I guess.
Just trying to understand, are you saying that Amazing Stories is the only show you watched? I really liked See (Science Fiction adjacent), and have heard great things about Servant (horror-ish). Really looking forward to Foundation. I keep seeing people make comments like your about their shows being “so morally correct” and all SJW, and I can only think of one that might fit that bill, so I am curious which you think do? Lots of the early reporting claimed that the shows would all be PG, with no violence, etc. and that has not been true at all. Not sure if you like thrillers, but I have also heard great things about Tehran. Also, as others and I have said, Ted Lasso is great.
Thanks, I will give that a go, but I was asking for more mainstream streaming services. I think Disney+ had Discovery Channel documentaries.
Discovery, Inc. is not part of Disney+, but National Geographic is.

They haven’t got enough content yet. It’s taking time to build up a catalogue. So they’re giving people a free pass as a taster. Give it a couple of years and Apple will be competing with Netflix and Amazon.

Like they have with Apple Maps you mean? 8 years and in my area it's still the very poor relative compared to Google Maps.

It's not like Netflix and Amazon are sitting still in those couple of years either. Nor Disney.

Yup, though thankfully Target had some ridiculous deals with Apple Gift Cards around Black Friday a couple months back and I got my annual stock up worth then. I hope that becomes a tradition!! Being able to use the credit on Apple products is pretty sweet too.
Yup. We bought our watches using these credits as well.

Not sure where you are, but in Southern California, I find the new Maps to be much better than Google Maps. Not just are the display, presentation and navigation better and estimated times more accurate, but the integration with the ecosystem is awesome. If I ask the HomePod what time a store or restaurant closes, or how long it will take me to get somewhere, Maps suggests it as a destination when I get in my car. All this without Apple knowing everywhere I go and selling that data to advertisers.

I got a 3 year subscription to Disney+ at a super discounted price. So far I have only watched The Mandolorian and one episode of Wandavision (I will probably finish the series, but I am not in love with it). In contrast, I have watched: For All Mankind, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, See, and Ghostwriter. I am currently watching Mythic Quest, and want to watch Tehran, Servant, Defending Jacob, Greyhound and Truth Be Told. I think we have watched one or two Amazon originals but I cannot think of what they are. We get Netflix from T-Mobile so I do not worry much about it, but very few of their recent originals have been good. As someone else said, at $5 a month, $80 a year (or even less as part of Apple One Premier), they just need one show or movie a month to make it worth it for me to subscribe.

why are people so against someone else’s opinion. If you like it great. I don’t.
Not arguing with your opinion, just wanted to understand on what you were basing it. You tried 2 shows and 1 movie (out of over 45 shows and movies) and did not like them. Now that I know what you did not like and how many shows you evaluated, I have a better understanding of your opinion.
