….in other news Apple Inc purchases Chinese electronics manufacturer…..a deal that should close in 2024. 😂😅

If I could see Apple product names coming I'd trademark them first too. I guess I'd have to actively be using it in the same trademark class, so maybe I'd hot glue a LED light and battery to a pair of sunglasses or something and call that the Vision Pro...

can't wait for the USA to wake up and stop making crap in China. Blow the country off the Map.
lol, I'm sure you can't wait to work the assembly line for around 4 bucks an hour, but I'm not sure you'll have too many co-workers...

As if China ever gave a flying hoot about any form of intellectual rights!!! 🤣🤣🤣

And the list goes on and on and on.....

You noticed these copies did change the names from origin to avoid trademark issue?

This is the problem with Apple. Of course they would have know this, they have a trillion dollar IP team! Yet they don't care and STILL went ahead with it. Only when the shoe is on the OTHER foot do they care.
When has the shoe been on the other foot in a scenario like this?

It’s a good thing Huawei doesn’t sell these products under the Vision trademark outside China like in the European market for example, but I guess Apple would’ve used another name if that was the case.

Names are just marketing. In Australia Burger King is "Hungry Jack's", but it is the same company and the same burgers. And why does it need an English name in China at all? Hardly anybody there speaks English.

Couldn't they just get around this by labeling it "Apple Vision" "Apple Vision Pro"? Kinda like iWatch was not used and Apple Watch was.

The payment followed several court cases in which Apple unsuccessfully argued that it had already acquired the rights for the name as part of a deal with Proview's Taiwanese arm.

Yeah bet that argument went over like a lead balloon. They seem a little touchy on that subject.

It's kinda absurd that Apple didn't check on this beforehand.
They would've and they would've gone for it anyway. That's how they (steam)roll. They have the money to ask for forgiveness and fk anyone they like in the process.

The hype - if there was any at all - is already gone. Many came to the conclusion that this thing is just another AR/VR headset. It is just more Apple-ish but incorporates no real invention.

This issue may not be that big of a deal. I think it was in Japan where the name "AirPort" could not be used by Apple because it was already in use by another company, so instead, Apple used "AirMac".

Maybe in China Vision Pro could be called "Viz Pro"? Vizor Pro? Eye Pro?

It's not too likely that they didn't check and perhaps they didn't see that as an issue. See the issue with "AirPort" which couldn't be used in Japan and so instead "AirMac" was used.
