I hope they do both the 4.7" and the 5.5" that way people have a choice. I wold love to have a choice between them. Personally I can't see Apple announcing the iPhone 6 4.7" and then months later launching another iPhone, It would annoy a lot of people. They may announce them both at the same event and then say the 5.5" will be released at a later date.

How about the 4 inch iphone 6? When will that come? I would love to have a choice of sizes... including sizes that aren't inflated for the phatblet lovers.
I'd ask about a 3.5" too but I guess I'd get lynched for it...

delays

The solution is simple. Hire Samsung or HTC employees to produce the larger screen model. They have been doing it for years and can show Apple the way. Whats the big deal?:p

Fantastic, now many "sources" for these silly rumors on upcoming devices, which is all this site is about, are going to receive "credibility" in the "rumors community".

Or simply your predictions are wrong and are you trying to retract..apple never said it would release a 5.5 iPhone. Stop making stupid predictions (itv, iwatch) simply to attract traffic to your site. Btw a prediction is valid if it materialises within a reasonable time, not in ten years...

I would also love a new 3.5" iPhone or even an iPod Touch with all the latest internals but that probably won't happen. :(

Not as much as your post.

Lulzzz. okay buddy

Lets face the facts (and by that I mean these rumors). Sammy is killing it with their 5 and 5.5 phones. Apple is supposed to come back with the same sizes and now there are production delays?

is that not a fail to you? I'm not being a hater in all this, I'm seeing this from the eyes of a consumer, having both android and ios products, and liking both of them.

Here we go...

This a a trend.... Product delays always.. particularly as better tech comes..

I love rumors that add suspicion to previous rumors. That way, rumor mill sites win either way. If it is not announced "we were right, it must have been delayed". If it is announced "we were right, see."

Every "S" model iPhone has had the same form factor of the previous model, spec bump and something unique to it. For example the 3GS featured "speed", the 4S "Siri", the 5S "security (fingerprint sensor".

If Apple did release a 6S it should have the same form factor as the iphone 6, a spec bump and something unique to it. I mean its quite possible the "S" in the 6S could be "size". who the hell knows. Apple is changing.

Like you said, the 6S will retain the same form factor as the 6, except it would be larger at 5.5" and will contain a spec bump. That's how I think the 5.5" version will be released if it were not to be released with the 6 as it will definitely not be mid-cyle. (And, assuming there even is a 5.5" version :p)

There is no such thing as an 5.5 iPhone, instead we will see a 4.7" iPhone 6 (air, pro, panorama, whatever it's called), and later just two weeks before Xmas the iPod Gamer an 5.5 iPod touch based on iPhone 6.

"Lulzzz"
"fail"
"hater"

This form of language does not compute.

I have one. But I'm going to hold on to it for now. Otherwise I'd offer to sell you my plenty fast 5s with generous battery life.

(Try to keep in mind that the 5s is light years ahead in technology for what the average consumer needs)

What is the average consumer? A lot of people keep upgrading to the latest and greatest, obviously there is still a need and want for better.

I'm disappointed in the 5s's battery life and camera. Yes the camera is great in optimal situations, but it's bad in quick motion or low light or selfies.

If this is true, than Apple can kiss off a future sale by me as I was looking forward to selling my Galaxy Note 3 for a 5.5" iphone just to have a new phone to play with. So either I'll keep my Note 3 for another year or upgrade to the Note 4, but there is no way I'm going back from a phablet to a under 5" phone ever again.

I don't understand why Apple wants to limit giving people choices. Android has gotten really good lately and the high end phones are real good, so their snobbish attitude toward their customers by limiting choice isn't going to work anymore like it used to.

It's Apples inconsistency that creates the constant hypocrisy. A few sizes of laptops and tablets to choose from, but years of a single phone. Now even if these two become reality, the Apple faithful will bash the larger size. The mere fact Apple dug in and procrastinated for years is very revealing.

Hopefully for them they get both sizes introduced together. If indeed they are released at separate intervals, Apple will spin the reason and their apologists will be their to back them as usual. It's just a phone, no where as important as in years gone by. This time around is likely to be more subdued anyway.

Marketshare of large screen phones

Well they may be "killing" the marketshare of large screen phones (and by that I presume you mean 4.7" and above), but it doesn't appear they're "killing" in smartphone sales overall...

Ouch: Eight-month-old iPhone 5s outsold the Galaxy S5 in its first full month of sales.

As Samsung’s recent second-quarter earnings pre-announcement made clear, the company’s smartphone business is facing some trouble right now. At the low end, Samsung is getting squeezed by several aggressive budget vendors selling dirt cheap phones in emerging markets. At the top, Samsung is still facing intense competition from Apple and its insanely popular iPhone lineup. In fact, demand for Apple’s flagship iPhone 5s is still so huge that sales of Samsung’s latest hero phone, the Galaxy S5, couldn’t even top iPhone 5s sales in the Galaxy phone’s first full month on store shelves.

Market research firm Counterpoint surveyed 35 markets accounting for 90% of global iPhone 5s and Galaxy S5 sales, and its findings are somewhat staggering. According to the firm, Apple’s iPhone 5s outsold Samsung’s Galaxy S5 handset by 40% in May.

May, by the way, was the Galaxy S5′s first full month of sales following mid-April launches in 150 countries including the United States.

Reuters reports that according to Counterpoint, Samsung sold 5 million Galaxy S5 smartphones this past May. Meanwhile, continued strong demand helped Apple sell 7 million iPhone 5s handsets.

“They made one mistake, one product that didn’t hold up to expectations and they are paying the price,” Counterpoint analyst Tom Kang told Reuters. “They will have to move forward and leave behind what has failed and focus on the next product.”

Samsung has at least two more new high-end smartphones planned for 2014, if recent rumors pan out. The South Korean company will reportedly launch a premium metal Galaxy F this summer and then follow it with the Galaxy Note 4 phablet in the fall.

Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning to launch an iPhone 6 and an iPhone phablet this year, both of which could seriously eat into Samsung’s high-end smartphone sales in the second half of 2014.
