I don’t care either way really. If alternate payments providers are offered I will still just use Apples as I am not handing over my card details. If they do not offer Apple I will just not buy. Fact is these companies new what they were signing up for and agreed. Just because the App Store is a cash cow compared to the Play Store. Most Apple users knew what they were getting to also. These developers should be happy that Apple has made it easy for users to spend money on their apps because if too much effort is involved people will most likely not bother.

That would be completely illegal. Apple can’t withhold customers’ legal rights related to products and services just because someone paid with legal currency that Apple didn’t earn a percentage from.
Apple can't decide what prices developers charge, but they can demand a 30% cut of revenues for any payment which unlocks in-app features, even if the payment is performed outside of the app. This isn't even up for debate; it's clearly stated in the developer agreement and was explicitly affirmed by Judge Rogers in her ruling.

Why would Apple appeal a "resounding victory"?
Because they only won 99% of the case and they're appealing the remaining 1%. Today's filing is not surprising to anyone following this closely. If you want to be better informed about all of this, I highly recommend the videos by Hoeg Law on YouTube.

You're talking about a dispute between Apple and a developer. None of that gives Apple the right to violate their customers' legal rights in retaliation.

No one really wants these changes. The court and politicians needs to understand this. The politicians/courts are forcing the consumer to feel that their privacy and security is being compromised when it does not have to be. If some security breach happens and most likely it will guess who the consumer is going to blame? You got it. Our clueless politicians.

And/Or Take the Spotify Route which is a lot smarter and wiser by directing users to a website for purchases

Not every developer has the clout to get users to go to a separate website and deal with the hassle of signing up.

Most smaller developers are still better off getting users to make a purchase via iTunes and giving Apple that 15% cut. The increase in sales from the ease of making that purchase would more than offset any cut they end up paying Apple as a result.

WOW! this is TOTAL BS!!
The APP store needs changes now!
Tim Cook. Offshoring money. Greedy APP store policies.

START USING WINDOWS 11. I'm tired of the APPLE monopoly BS!!

The Microsoft Store is FREE. And you don't have to use it either. No one forces anyone at Microsoft. Except APPLE

The same BULL CRAP about running IOS APPS on macOS. WHERE IS IT?

GO ANDROID. GO WINDOWS 11.

GO HACKINTOSH!

If I get screwed over by an app, I can request a refund from Apple (and I have). If I get screwed over by an app for a purchase I made outside the App Store, I wouldn’t be able to request a refund. This sucks for me as a user, and Apple because a lot of media will be blaming Apple for letting this happen on their phones. They need to figure a way to make this possible without anyone getting screwed.
Part of it is that the developer shouldn’t have a say when it comes to refunds. The rules need to be clear, and while they could be better giving control to the developer would make it worse. Every single app needs to have the same refund policy so comers don’t have to investigate every single purchase.

tl;dr either give me free stuff or I’ll take it.

I can’t imagine Apple or any sensible developer would want this customer.

I do believe the Microsoft Store charged 30% and reduced it to 12% this year. PC applications can now provide their own payment facilities but if you're a game you've got to pay the Microsoft revenue share.

Hope they don't take away my ability to download mac apps from a web browser in the name of taking a 30% cut security

This doesn’t work for games and many other. What should’ve happen is demolishing the ridiculous “you can’t charge different prices” rule.

ah yeah I didn’t know that method couldn’t apply to games and the like.

maybe your right about the different prices thing I guess but something has to eventually come out of this

now let me tell you something about Windows 11

you want people to have it but how about for those who don’t have a 8th gen intel cpu or later or a certain amd cpu or later

Exactly because windows 10 supported core 2 duo cpu and there wasn’t any of this cpu compatibility crap ( and also having access to windows updates at the same time)

Also with the way MS is handling windows 11 the more they don’t add in older chipsets like kabylake or skylake the more it will be like windows ME/vista/8 failure

apple for Monterey supports a Mac Pro as far as 2013 and 1 or 2 macs from 2014 while MS did this silly move to support coffee lake from late 2017/2018 on wards so they became another apple in this regard

I’m sorry Apple is forcing Microsoft?????

In the words of Pauline Hanson I will like a please explain on how apple is forcing Microsoft, forcing them to do what???

In the end, I suspect Apple will take my advice & simply reduce their cut to 7.5% across the board, & be done with it ALL.

NOT Rocket Science, if Apple's Board wants Tim Cook to stick around for another 3-5 years, they need to reduce his stress level ASAP.

He appears to be aging very fast right now !

I'm writing this here because some Apple Board members do visit this website, & read the comments.

Also, I think Apple referred to the Judge's decision as a Resounding Victory mostly because she stated that Apple does NOT have a Monopoly.

That's what Apple keeps touting, anyway, since the court's decision.

This is the case that never ends,
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend,
Some people started suing it not knowing what it was,
and they'll continue suing it forever just because...

🤣

And do you remember why she said apple is a monopoly, because Epic couldn’t prove it despite only words and statements from them and no evidence from them

Oh and since apple has the right to ban epic permanently or until the case fully ends they can’t sue apple again for being a monopoly. Because this will go on forever epic can’t get the advantages it seeks because the judge prevented them for getting that moment 😂😂😂

and um this is a resounding victory for apple. Even if apple is forced to comply with epics win and if they’re appeal fails the other things epic demanded are far more worse to apples image and are a more bigger threat security wise ( with sideloading if it ever happens on iOS it should be prepared and done in apples way in terms of security and safety and not compromising iOS/iPadOS) and apple knows this. Epic win doesn’t hurt apple much when it comes to the safety of they’re own platform

and apple will definitely not cut to 7.5% not when it’s 30% standard, that isn’t up for you to decide, only the judge can decide this

Or you can go use Epic Games Launcher, Steam, GOG or even create your own launcher a la Battle.net at least there is choice

Apple should be forced to do changes in the way how they operate App Store. App Store should be separated from Apple and they Apple should be treated as just another developer. All mega corps should be broken down. All of them are abusing due to their position.
