I see a few paths.

Launch it at 8/256 just like the 13" - $1399 to start.

Launch with 8/512 - $1499 to start, maybe $1499.

Discontinue the M1 Air and M2 13" Pro, bump the M2 Air down to $1099, launch the 15" at $1299-$1399.
I hope you're in the right ballpark!

Then why would they have bothered to FINALLY redesign the body for the M1? They coulda just left it in dated casing like the Mac mini. iMac is still the best Mac one can own in an office setting. just need some semi pro options like they always had before with intel

To measure if there was a market for it. They probably did a lot of the R&D years ago so decided to use the tooling to take it to market. I think they will happily keep selling the current model for now but won’t bother with a bigger screen variant or a refresh. iPad Pro is the future of Mac.

No one wants an iPad Pro as their professional work machine. Mine is a nice little side screen here but that’s about it.

I do and many others are doing the same (see iPad forum on MR)
Count me in as well. I have not had a laptop since my nVidia GPU MacBook Pro died and have used an iPad as my primary portable machine. I have a desktop for development, but most of my work is done on my iPad Pro.
