Everyone who wants Apple to develop a calculator app, why haven't you supported a developer and paid for one of theirs calculator app?
Do you think the same thing for all kinds of software, or somehow this is a calculator-only opinion?

Is is somehow worse for Apple to include a Calculator app than including a Clock app, shutting out the developers of competing basic clocks? Naturally the best way to support developers is for all first-party Apple apps to be removed, so only the App Store is provided & users chose from third-party developers for everything.

But obviously that isn't true. What is good for developers isn't always good for customers. Providing a user experience where it isn't necessary to dig through 100s of ad-covered apps for basic functionality is valuable to the customer.

It’s going to look so stupid if Apple doesn’t make restricted window sizes a thing, unless they try to make the calc app more or of a control centre widget or something like that. They should realize not everything needs to reinvent the wheel and macOS did some things right.

Very excited about this update. In addition to the traditional numbers (three, eight, two, etc) this update will include all new numbers like florph, ding, and niphod. The removal of the subtraction function is a small price to pay for this groundbreaking update.

I guess too many people couldn’t figure out how to use the App Store.

Why should anyone need to get such a simple basic app that should be included in the OS from the App Store in the first place? And all of them are junk anyways with ads everywhere.

What a time to be alive! Remember this historic moment.

“It’s the best calculator app we’ve ever made … we think you’re going to love it!”

“Available on all existing iPads - just $2.99 a month! And we’ll add 3 months of Apple TV+ for free!”

Apple is finally planning a Calculator app for the iPad, over 14 years after launching the device, according to a source familiar with the matter.

iPadOS 18 will include a built-in Calculator app for all iPad models that are compatible with the software update, which is expected to be unveiled during the opening keynote of Apple's annual developers conference WWDC on June 10.

The lack of an official Calculator app on the iPad has been a long-running meme on social media, as users have waited for its arrival. In the meantime, iPad users have relied on calculator apps in the App Store, such as PCalc and Calcbot.

AppleInsider last week reported that macOS 15 will feature a revamped Calculator app with integration with the Notes app, a resizable window, a sidebar that lists recent calculations, and more. While we have not independently confirmed those details, it is possible that the updated Mac app will be based on the new iPad app.

The first beta of iPadOS 18 is expected to be released immediately following the WWDC keynote, and the update should be widely released in September.

Now, if only we could get Instagram and WhatsApp for the iPad…

Apple didn’t make a calculator app for the iPad. What really happened is the AI in iPadOS 18 reached sentience and the first thing it said was “where the f**k is the calculator app?” and immediately wrote and installed one in the OS.
