It's bizarre, to me, that this fine is over alternative payment systems for dating apps.
Dating apps?? Seriously? Again, bizarre.

All I know is Apple Legal has to be one of the more secure jobs around.

Here my personal take on why the case had to be limited to dating apps. It had a much broader scope at the beginning.

This just shows how Apple ticks and how evil they are, they think they are above the law but will face plant hard.

Even core Apple guys leaves them for being toxic, Chris Lattner(Swift) just sang why he left Apple:

Nope. Poor reading comprehension on your part. That was his explanation for leaving the Swift core team which is not a part of Apple. Lattner left Apple five years before he left the core team (per your link.)

No, it's not. It's an open source project. Apple is the project lead and some core team members work at Apple. But it's not Apple.

Well, Swift is not an Apple project in the same way Chromium is not a Google project: technically it's not, but in practice it's pretty clear who steers the ship.

It is an Apple project. Apple is officially the project lead. But it is not a part of Apple.

The point is that Apple steers the ship. The Core Team is technically not "Apple", but Apple, as Project Lead, is the official authority which appoints the members of the Core Team.

This means Apple is in fact directly responsible for the Core Team even if the members of the Core Team themselves are not necessarily Apple employees.

I'm not sure anything Apple suggests will actually satisfy regulators at this point.
Neither am I.
But it's not for a lack of what Apple could suggest or do.

They literally just need to allow these apps to link to outside purchasing options. That's it. No commission on outside sales, no entitlement requirements, no paperwork to file. They just need to legally allow it. Developers (some) will gladly figure out the rest and re-build apps with their new code. That is it.

Apple just doesn't want to give in and allow it.
AplInc makes over €5 EVERY HOUR. This fine is nothing.
€5/hour * 24 hours/day * 365 days/year = €43'800

Yeah, I agree they're probably making more than that each year.

You could spend 30 seconds just checking where Chris Lattner has been recently employed before you call someone else a liar on the internet. I'm not saying Apple is a great place to work, I don't know. But, Chris Lattner left Apple in 2017. He has since worked for Tesla and Apple and founded his own company last month. And just in case you want to also call me a liar, here's his wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Lattner
When did I call anybody a liar?

Yes, he left Apple 2017(you are NOT a liar!11!eleven11!), but the real reason is "mysteriously unknown", surely it wasn't just for money or extra because of Tesla, and later he leaves the Swift Core Team(calling it toxic) that mainly consists of Apple employees.

Cough, cough, sum up, that says it all.

Apple and it's environment is so toxic and full of crap, it's not the first time this comes to light, and even drives somebody to leave his Baby(Swift) behind. Their overall behavior which is slowly coming more and more to light lately just completes the whole image of Evil Apple.

Apple treats their customers bad, Apple treats their employees bad, Apple treats the developers bad.
They walk over dead bodies, and think they are above the law.
