Apple Needs to Fire It's Visual Designers

There, fixed that for you.
The music app hasn't looked decent since Forstall left.
I was no fan of his designs but at least he made an effort.
To put people in charge that spend little to no time with the app was the worst way to go.
It took them like 2 ios releases to fix the landscape bug?
No one in beta saw that?
And what was the fix? just not let it go into landscape.
Sorry, my iPhone 6S plus can handle a landscape music view just like the iPad does.

The UX within the iOS Music app is notoriously bad. Who the hell puts two of the most used actions -- shuffle and repeat -- below the "fold" with no indication that you can scroll to see more? Obviously it's a beta and things will (and have) changed.

It does make one wonder what they're doing over there, though.

Realistically how often are those two buttons actually used? Some may use them a ton, I get that, but I doubt they get a whole lot of use from the majority. Personally if I'm shuffling, it's done directly from the album, artist or playlist with Shuffle All and not once I'm in the controls screen. Rarely, if ever do I repeat the same song back to back, so for me that button is almost never used. With that said, I prefer them how it is. Just slightly out of the way and not in my view when I don't need them. Fewer things immediately on screen is cleaner.

It may not fit your use, but Apple doesn't design for the 5% (not actual number) they design for the majority. Your disagreement on it doesn't make it universally bad or a fact.

On top of that on iOS if you make a playlist available offline and then decide you don't want to keep it on your phone anymore it doesn't release the disk space. you have to uninstall/reinstall the app.

Maps design in iOS PB 2 has definitely taken a hit. From clean, simple & more intuitive view in iOS 9 it now looks like an over-magnified version of Waze with a questionable choice of colours, 2,5D presentation and laggy transitions. Better functionally (e.g. one can now ask it to avoid tolls), but that new look! Hope they can radically rethink it before September, or just re-design it again from scratch a few months later, as it will now be a stand-alone app, like Google Maps, Waze, HERE, etc. Fingers crossed on the wheel. 😉

Why do y'all complain about Apple Maps? It actually looks good and looks like a simple GPS lol. It's does need a little optimization, but its good so far...

The functionality is better, yes, but take it for a ride and see how it looks in action. Design and simplicity wise it is a step back compared to iOS 9. You see less map on a screen, for starters, after they added that trip estimates bar with ETA and remaining time/distance. It really takes a big portion of the screen now and looks like a bad copy of Waze.

It looks completely fine, except for landscape.

Enough that they merit being on the main interaction plane and not relegated to performing another action just to access them.
 
I have mixed feelings about some of the app redesigns in iOS 10. Music is easier to use, and I have found it shows more relevant content, however, it looks disgusting in some areas, the now playing interface for example. Fonts in the Music app are also horrid, even with the smallest text size selected, it is still huge. I think it's very out of sync with designs in other apps on the OS.

The iOS 9 now playing interface is great, nothing wrong with it. Instead of wasting time on something that hardly anybody was complaining about they could add new features like cross fade and notifying me if I'm adding a song to a playlist that already has it.
