Oh well sucks for them. They’ll be ok. I’m sure they are paid. He will probably get hired by google or something. No worries I guess.

What more could there be? Clueless chick with equally clueless dad puts an unreleased product in full public view, at a sensitive time when every eye is trained directly on that product. Filmed on company grounds no less. Apple makes an example of him. End of story, end of job.
I doubt the father is clueless.
The man was an engineer at Apple....

He has a kid. He obviously cares for his kid, and was willing to break to rules for her.
You sound incredibly bitter....which is strange, because the man who just lost his job, is at peace with the outcome. lol

Maybe Google will hire him. I don't think non-competes can be put in place when the employer fires someone either. If so, they'd better PAY HIM his full salary until he finds a new job.

A non-compete can definitely be in effect post-employment, regardless of whether the employee quits or is fired. The enforceability is different animal, most NCs would prevent someone from working in their subject matter area (which is very hard to enforce), and in the tech sector, the knowledge you leave with gets dated so quickly, it's also not that enforceable. Generally, there's really "deep" IP that's under an NDA (his violation), but that's different from an NC - the latter gets tricky - and years ago I was involved in some legal work in this area - when the company where the employee works, suddenly has some invention that was present at the old company. Then you get into a huge legal gyration that attempts to prove the second company had the work in progress and arrived there without any kind of disclosure of trade secrets, etc.

Yes I would...and although I'm not a higher up in the tech industry...I do run a Healthcare agency and i liken this to in the health care industry we have HIPAA which protects patient information..when we hire an employee they sign a form that clearly outlines what is expected and the consequences for violating any of these guidelines..if an applicant was terminated from a previous position for HIPAA violations there's no way I would even think about hiring them.
so you think he's relegated to flipping burgers the rest of his working days?

or- what do you imagine to be the future of his career? is his career in tech over? etc

Yeah bitter and realistic often get confused by people who are too nice for their own good.

I never said his career is over..I'm sure he'll land somewhere but I'm sure hiring managers will have their doubts. Violating a NDA is not as small an offense as some of u think.

you said that -->

I can't see another high profile company hiring him to work on future projects for fear that it might happen again to them

now you know what i think of NDAs ?

ok.. i think you're reading stuff that isn't there.. carry on.

Yes, her dad broke a rule, and now he’s paying for it! That’s punishment enough. I agree with her that there’s no need to insult her dad or call her names! I never understand why there’s so much hate in this world!

Going on record in a follow-up video about your dad getting terminated for cause, specifically for violating an NDA? That's certainly not going to help dad to get another job. She really is clueless.

I’m not sure how they were unaware of the rules. Even we know it was against Apple policy. Also, she should be the one taking responsibility since she’s the one who made the video and posted it.

Privileged little girls don’t know the word “responsibility” unless it’s for someone else to take it

If youre interpreting what I said to mean he no longer has a career in tech I apologize. My opinion is that a company like Samsung would think twice about hiring someone that broke a NDA while employed by a competitor..the X is a huge deal to Apple...like the s8/s8+ was for Samsung...the dad worked on the X and promptly was fired for breaking the nda for a product he worked with..imagine he applies to Samsung to work on the s9 or the rumored galaxy flex...pretty sure Samsung is gonna look long and hard at the nda violation...this is not to say that he won't get hired to work on less high profile products. Also I wasn't referencing you in particular with my NDA comment.

You people and your emotional drivel. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

If it was Jobs at the helm, he'd have been fired that day after the video was discovered and taken down.

Did anyone notice how she kept repeating that her father takes full responsibility for this? Yes he was at fault, but maybe she shouldn’t have said that so much and just said I made a mistake, I take full responsibility instead of blaming it all on dad. Just my two cents.

“My dad takes full responsibility for ME FILMING it and getting him fired”

In this thread: people feeling sympathy for a guy getting fired, so looking for ways to justify him breaking the rules.

The rules are the rules folks. He knew it when he worked for them and broke them anyway. That’s all that matters. Not whether you agree with the rules or not

I feel sorry for her dad. He looks like a nice guy. In the original video she basically went to his job with her mom and they ate lunch there. He was using it only at his job. So he seemed to be following the rules. It was her posting it to YouTube that got him fired.

Not only that, it is strictly forbidden to film inside Apple HQ without Apple’s consent.
