LOL! Retail Value! More like the original price...Nevermind...I know it's the thought that counts. Apple gift card would have been better just a suggestion. :D
I don't get this reflex people have to just put a down note on any nice story. "Yeah but they could've given them blah blah and Beats sucks." Doesn't sound like something someone in the workforce would say. I work for one of the biggest drug companies in the world and "all I got was this lousy teeshirt."

Not bad for a freebie. I'd rather have had the incase backpack though - that thing looks sweeet

Does that include people who fail at maths on this thread?

Or people who think Apple has 150 000 retail employees?

Or people who believe these beats cost apple $100?

That $15 million..... Do tell? With maths like this, employees will be getting $250 000 each Between the Beats, stock opitions, and those lucrative retail employee bonuses.

/end sarcasm

You did not read the story that this is for retail employees did you? Just jumped in ! Trolls on these forum are NOT just apple Bashers
You're right. People with your personality, needing to spread misery wherever you post, are poison. Don't make your depression everyone else's problem.

Awesome for them. Great majority of employers gift out absolutely nothing. Since most are simply greatful to be employed these days it's a non-issue. Nothing to see here people carry on.

...In unrelated news, sales of urbeats earbuds on eBay rocketed today.

Shame they won't work with the next iPhone :p

urBeats, WTF?!?? Least a Power Beats Wireless could've been nice. EarPods >urBeats. If Apple gave customers free Studios with a purchase of a Mac, why not employees get a better set of ****ing headphones.

But they aren't even wireless there's wires on them, I know they're used for staying on your ears out still! Don't call them wireless when there are indeed wires!

Is that kind of along the same lines of people running into issues with their wireless routers or some other wireless devices because they just can't imagine them needing to be plugged in (and thus technically have a wire connected) for power?

Each December, Apple provides its employees with a special holiday gift to thank them for their contributions to the company and to celebrate the holiday season.

Employees have begun receiving their 2015 holiday gift from Apple, which consists of a set of black and red urBeats earphones from the Beats by Dr. Dre product lineup. Employees were not able to pick a color for their gifted earphones, but the packaging does have special wording: "Thank You 2015."

Apple's black and red urBeats headphones have a retail value of $99.95 and are being distributed to all of its employees around the world.

Last year, Apple employees received a custom Apple-branded Incase backpack, and in the years before that, employees have been gifted things like blankets, water bottles, hoodies, free apps, discounted iTunes gift cards, and more.

Awesome . I can't wait to get back into work and collect mines .

Hmmm....speak from knowledge please. Apple Retail pay is MORE than almost any other retail company...PERIOD. You do know there are Geniuses and Creatives making $60-70K a year...PLUS full medical, dental and vision..life insurance, 401k AND they just gave employees FREE RSU's...No other retail company gives RSU's. Thats free stock. This is better than ANY retail company in the world. Oh and healthy discounts on apple products as well as 3rd party discounts and perks. Those complaining have no clue about what they are talking about.

Was not comparing to Retail, sorry. I was comparing to Corporate jobs in other Fortune 500 companies. As to comparing "apples to apples" (pun intended), find me a retail position where an employee bring as much profit to their company as an Apple Store retail employee. Now apply the ratio and see if you think Apple retail employees get a fair pay/benefits?

Agree that Apple retail employees get generally more than their counterparts - stock grants are very new by the way - but again is the pay "fair" for what they do and bring to the company ? They also do not get commission, another variable in the calculation and comparison of other retail employees final paycheck.

So you're saying $50 dollars is 2% of your yearly salary?

That was a part time job at minimum wage. I worked around 12 hours on weekends and made ~$100 a week for it. I said 1-2%, at this particular store, it was 1%. $100*50*1% = $50. I was 15 and it was my first job - I thought it was cool that I got a holiday bonus.

Imagine you spend $300 and give someone an iPad 2 Mini for Christmas.

That person then turns around and throws the gift back in your face. WTF! An iPad 2 mini? Why not an iPad 4 mini, you cheap !%$#$^#@%^^

Makes no sense.

I am soooo glad I'm not dating any of you thankless cretans. "Couldn't you have at least gotten me the top of the line model? The only reason you even bought this for me is because it was on sale. Next time, just give me money. I know what you earn, you could have just put a fat wad of bills in my stocking and not insulted me with this. It'll be obsolete in a few years anyway!"

"Oh, and your sweater's ugly."

It seems there's not a story on MacRumors where the comment thread doesn't make me hate humanity a little bit more... I used to think the CNN comments were depressing...

Urbeats are probably pretty cheap to make, but still, the fact they do the gifts at all (to their several million employees) is pretty cool.

They could have done what any other company would have done and sold it at a reduced price and/or binned it.

You must remember that no company is obligated to provide a Christmas 'extra' whether it be a monetary bonus or a gift. You must also remember that Apple is a BUSINESS - they receive nothing in return for providing these gifts to their employees.

You bet they do. The amount that they are going to write off in taxes for this "gift" is a gift that in return benefits them. Anyone would be foolish to think Apple would just give away this amount of worth. They're smarter than that.

Apple is great and not great.

Anyone on the sales floor is paid peanuts. Other than the managers which make 70k+ a year. The employees are great and benefits etc. Everything else sucks, customers, hours, pay, moving up in company.

A company like this needs to give employees headphones (or a gift), the employees love it. They look at it as if the company loves them. The company positions pay as "If you are in it for the money you shouldn't be working here"

If they gave bonuses of 2% total sales, some people (cough) would have made more than they make the entire year.
