Besides the fact that the bricks probably cost Apple 50 cents apiece.

50 cents a piece? So since you’re stating that that as ‘fact‘, post a direct link/source showing that it costs Apple $.50 to manufacture a charging brick for that cost. (FYI,Which is actually a forum rule if you claim something as ‘fact’, you are obligated to follow up with a source for your claim.)

Also, I would suspect your claim is completely off, as you’re not factoring manufacturing costs of materials and labeling, T&E, ect.

If I were an Apple newbie and bought a $400 watch, I'd be pissed to not get that charging brick because who the hell wants to make a trip to Target.

Sure, that could be an inconvenience for someone new to the Apple Watch. But Let’s not make it sound like somebody had so much burden travel to a store, when they can easily order one off-line just as a secondary option.

These folks and others can sell 5W bricks for as low as 25¢ each in volume, including profit, overhead, and any cut taken by Alibaba

What do you suppose that Apple can produce their higher quality 5W bricks for, given their volume and supply chain buying power? 50¢? 75¢?

My Ti watch came with a power brick that I promptly tossed in a drawer because I have about 20. Good on Apple for removing them, I wish my watch didn’t come with one.

OP: If you need a power brick let me know and I’ll mail you one free of charge.
See Apple should have teamed with Macrumors members in the presentation instead of Verizon 😄

They just did the same thing with the iPhones. No headphones, no charger, smaller packaging, less shipping cost, and not to mention the manufacturing savings on not having to make those items. They still cost the same price. I love apple as much as the next apple person but damn apple, give us some of the savings.

Its amazing apple doesn't slap us on the face and call us names as we pay for these things.
Oh don't worry. Android defenders do in their heads. 😄

I’ve noticed these things too. I was pretty surprised they stopped using the felt sleeve for the watch in the box. I also noticed something a little odd on my series 6 SBTi yesterday. Had the band out to rinse everything off after a workout and I noticed the little door that’s in the band slot for Apple to program the watch is a lighter color than the rest of the watch. Almost looks aluminum or graphite by comparison. Anyone else seeing that door not mating like it used to? I’m sure it hurts nothing, but I’m curious if that’s something else they’re doing to save costs. Use a common color door across models.

Reading comprehension is your friend. I said, "PROBABLY" and did in no way represent my post as a fact. No need to get all butt-hurt on Apple's behalf or quote forum rules to me. Apple cheaped out; end of story.

and did in no way represent my post as a fact.

Oh, you didn’t? Ok, so lets revisit your post for a second.

Besides the fact that the bricks probably cost Apple 50 cents apiece

So when you Posted “Besides the fact”, other readers shouldn’t question you when explicitly stated what you quoted above? So again, please post a source for your ‘fact’ statement. Otherwise, don’t deflect and back-track what you said. I asked a simple question for your claim that I was genuinely curious how you derived to ‘50 cents’. (I mean, since we are all on the topic of ‘Apple cheapening out’).

It’s part of the Apple unboxing experience.

I agree the felt fabric pouch was actually a nice little touch, but let’s be honest, we’re a very particular crowd on these types of sites, average consumers would just throw that in the garbage and not think anything of it or leave it in the box. Hard-core Apple enthusiast(s) appreciate the small details, the other masses never will take great appreciation to the different variations of how Apple packages things, materials, the things that make the watch itself unique. Kind of like when they use the plastic boxes in the beginning for the sport model Apple Watch and stainless steel, but migrated To cardboard only for obvious reasons.

So true. The small details that hardly anyone will notice that used to make Apple Apple. That is why it is so bothersome that the small diagnostic port cover does not match colors on the SBTi.

I'm pretty far from your average consumer and would consider myself an Apple enthusiast. I agree that that little pouch was nice but for a product that I'll be using for years to come, the two seconds that thing is in my hands means squat. The S6 is a huge step up in regards to technology so it just boggles my mind that people can come here and gripe about something so insignificant.

This is MacRumors.

Apple could hand out free cheese and someone would complain it wasn't their preferred variety, and that Steve would've provided crackers.

But it is also a little bit because of how Apple has been marketing itself as the company that pays close attention to these kinds of little details. After all, Steve Jobs came up with the story about the back of the cabinet that should be as meticulously crafted as the front, even though it will never be seen. This is what many people have come to expect from the company. And this is why people pay close attention to those details and remark, when they are watered down. It does in no way mean that the product is bad. But where else would you state those things, if not on a discussion board?
