Yep for most people, even if people from this forum says otherwise.256GB with 8GB is already outdated as soon as you receive it.
8/256 is only gonna work if you use Facebook and read your email, and maybe open a small XML or doc file.

It's why I went back to NVIDIA. And this happened at THE WORST TIME. Where you couldn't get ANY GPUs. It was almost to the point where I just had to bite the bullet for a GTX 1060 at $360. But my Macs picked up the slack.Welcome to the world of AMD, AMD's software sucks, period, I have more issues with AMD than intel/Nvidia.
Not any more. Intel and AMD smoke M2 chips in some areas.Lol what on earth are you talking about. Apple is ahead of Intel and AMD, and Qualcomm ARM chips are a joke. As long as M3 is as impressive as we hope, Apple will continue to dominate. Qualcomm can't even catch up to M1.
It depends on the area. I have an i9 13th gen and a 4090. But my Macs still beat out during video editing since we have specialized encoders on the M* processors. After Effects is a bit better on my Mac too, it seems to render my video with a lot of plugin use much faster than my Windows PC does.Intels latest i9 chips beat Apple Silicon.
Also Apple has no answer to an Nvidia 4000 series GPU
Combine a PC with those two on board and it beats any Apple configuration.
I was in a similar situation, I upgraded my old 1050 ti with a 6400, is faster yes, but the drivers suck, no VRR or 10 bit on Smart TVs, now I'm waiting for a 4050 to replace that bugged card. It's why I went back to NVIDIA. I don't care how big the battery is. I don't think there there's any Windows laptop available that will last as long as my 16" M1 MBP.You can get a laptop with a bigger battery, or a Windows ARM laptop.
The screen you can get a laptop with 120+ Hz, or 4k resolution.
That's a pretty rare, unique case, just by numbers, everybody knows (except some guys in this forum) that a core i9 13 gen with a 4090 will smoke a mac in pretty much everything, specially macs M2 SSDs, a Samsung 990 Pro for example. It depends on the area. In some areas though you are right i9 and 4090 is better than the Mac.
I tried AMD processors not that long ago, since early days of Ryzen when people were saying they are DESTROYING Intel!!! Yet, I faced the USB not working issue. Never....ever...again. Intel and NVIDIA will stay with me for my Windows PCs.I was in a similar situation, I upgraded my old 1050 ti with a 6400, is faster yes, but the drivers suck, no VRR or 10 bit on Smart TVs, now I'm waiting for a 4050 to replace that bugged card.

Screens are also not just about hz and resolution, but also color reproduction.
I mostly agree with your point, but there are some things that Apple beats everyone else on. If those things are important to a buyer, then they don't have any other choice. For example, I rarely wish my computer was faster, but now that I have had a taste of longer battery life, I want a MBP that can go for days on a charge.
All advantages and disadvantages. This is why I have Windows, Macs and Linux systems. Macs are the majority for me, but I have Windows systems for some special cases and of course gaming. They all have strengths. It doesn't provide any benefits to be loyal or a fanboy to anything.I don't care how big the battery is. Same for me, Intel + Nvidia + Microsoft.I tried AMD processors not that long ago, since early days of Ryzen when people were saying they are DESTROYING Intel!!! Yet, I faced the USB not working issue. Never....ever...again. Intel and NVIDIA will stay with me for my Windows PCs.
Totally agree with you, being a fan boy or a specific operating system is nuts. All advantages and disadvantages. This is why I have Windows, Macs and Linux systems. I am far more interested in Macs, I do prefer macOS over Windows. But I still enjoy the other side of things too. While I have had major frustrations with Windows lately, more so than all macOS versions combined, I still like Windows 11 and looking forward to hopping on 12 when possible.Totally agree with you, being a fan boy or a specific operating system is nuts.
No, but using a specific software + plugin configuration is.Video editing is a rare unique case? Surprising to me
Don't think After Effects + Trapcode Particular is rare. Its one of the most common plugins I have heard for After Effects. No, but using a specific software + plugin configuration is.
My point is, that using that plugin + after effects, is an unique/rare way in where a mac can have a better performance than an Intel core i9 13 gen with a 4090.Don't think After Effects + Trapcode Particular is rare. Its one of the most common plugins I have heard for After Effects.
Well like I said, that's not the only advantage. Final Cut Pro is greater than Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve on Windows. Davinci is better on macOS than Windows too.My point is, that using that plugin + after effects, is an unique/rare way in where a mac can have a better performance than an Intel core i9 13 gen with a 4090.
Some people don't know the difference between "can't" and "won't". All the examples given of PC hardware beating Apple silicon Macs are not fair comparisons. The M-series ARM chips are objectively better than anything in the x86 world, but Apple has an obsession with low power consumption and size. In order for PCs to beat the current Macs in performance, you need 1000+ watt power supplies and crazy coolers. Nvidia GPUs are bigger than a Mac Mini now.Agree, some people don't get that apple can't compete with powerful CPUs/GPUs.
I know it won't happen, because it's not Apple's way as you say. But I really wish we would see a 500/1000 watt Apple Silicon Mac Pro. Just pull out all the stops. Shut people up Apple, just pump power in it and make it out perform every single product out there. Some people don't know the difference between "can't" and "won't". Apple can certainly compete will all that craziness if they wanted, but it's completely opposite where they want the company to go. x86 is dying, being kept alive by PC gamers for now.
I honestly have no idea what they are going to do about the Mac Pro. The rumors are garbage, so we'll just have to wait and see... but I wouldn't be surprised if they just discontinued it in favor of a more powerful Mac Studio.I know it won't happen, because it's not Apple's way as you say. There are also rumors that the Mac Studio is one and done so who knows what is happening. Mac Studio never got M2 so it's more than likely Studio is done. Apple stated Mac Pro will be updated.I honestly have no idea what they are going to do about the Mac Pro. Those stupid rumors are part of the same stupid Mac Pro rumors. There is absolutely no way the Mac Studio is discontinued, and it hasn't even been that long yet since the M1 version came out. If they updated it to M2 this year it would basically be on a typical Apple refresh schedule. There are also rumors that the Mac Studio is one and done so who knows what is happening. That would mean the death of the Mac as we know it. They already made that massive mistake back in 2013 with the Trash Can Mac Pro. To the point where as much as a public company could, apologized for the situation they got us in. It caused a lot of pros to leave the Mac market back then. Those stupid rumors are part of the same stupid Mac Pro rumors. Just because Apple said they will update the Mac Pro doesn't mean they actually will. If it's really true (it isn't) that they can't come up with something that goes far beyond the capabilities of the Studio, I'm pretty sure they would just change their minds and discontinue the Pro and go with the Studio instead, as it fits in with their low power small size philosophy. Plus there's not that many reasons for PCie cards anymore without GPU support.
Not at all. The days of giant computer towers are mostly behind us. The PC world is only sustained by gamers at this point. That would mean the death of the Mac as we know it.
