I agree. It sickens me that we continually support companies like Apple than have no regard for human life. As far as I'm concerned, every time we buy from Apple it is using blood money.

LMAO
Your last line was very funny.

Two questions (and potential answers):
- Why do we always see organised lines in photos from product launches in the North America, Europe, Australia, Japan and other countries and only unorganised crowds in China? Do the Apple Stores in China not even attempt to organise the lines? Are they not allowed to cordon-off lines and employ private security guards in the public space (as they do in the North America, Europe, Australia, Japan and other countries)? Or do the Chinese simply don't feel the need to obey to private security guards that show them the end of the line?

This is Asia, people don't queue up here.
And not only here but in many poor Countries people don't queue.
I am used to it now but it takes time to get used to the unorderly crowds.

I think the best solution would be for Apple to sell online only in China, on the other hand Apple wants to sell as many as they can so why should they, for safety of people I guess.

Scalpers are just scum.

Seriously dude...this is what the #Occupy movement was all about. Losing one life is one life too many.

There are only 5 Apple stores in mainland China...

----------

Not like in the US that Apple open their stores in every university, every Target and Bestbuy, Apple in China intentionally made themselves "elite look-like" by only opening a few (5 actually) gigantic stores in the richest communities in China. Chinese have no shame maybe, but Apple definitely should take some responsibilities for such a frenzy.

Who says, do you know Apples plans, I think that actually want many more but doing business in Asia is NOT easy and takes time, especially when you don't want to pay money to officials;)

Edit : Asia Except a few countries like Singapore, Hong Kong and the like

Not really, there's another one born every minute.

This whole idea that one life is to too many to loose always befuddles me. In the grand scheme of things, "we" are less important than we like to think.

Hang on… How is Apple not able to meet demand at this time? The 4S has been out in other countries for a while now, and surely sales have slowed a bit in those countries. Why not have a hundred thousand of them ready and waiting in the Beijing store on launch day and let people buy as many as they want… Then what incentive would the scalpers have? But as long as supply is constrained, and there's a commercial incentive to scalp, they will do it.

Yeah, those barbaric foreigners. It's a good thing we good American's never have riots over stupid stuff - oh, like say, sporting events. Because if, say, people actually died in some of these riots (which, of course, don't occur here) - why, we might not be so quick to call others animals and barbarians.

But, since nothing like that ever happens here, we can feel free to assert our moral superiority and call others names.

Lucky thing...

I agree but don't tell anyone;)

The cause of the downfall of this world are the numbers of us, too many and growing at an alarming pace.

We should ship out the occupy protesters to work in the deplorable conditions in China to see if they still have something to complain about. lololololol

I'm not a racist person, but... what is it with the Chinese and taking shopping too seriously .

When the iPhone 4S was released here, yes it was popular, but there was an orderly queue. People when they got to the front of the queue went in and bought themselves an iPhone. There was no "scalping". There was no pushing and shoving. People just, well, bought the phone.

Or a more direct comparison...Black Friday (or Boxing Day in Canada, although we've seemingly adopted Black Friday, despite our October Thanksgiving). Retail madness.

C'mon now. Suicides are a part of life in this world. Did you realize that the suicide rate amongst Foxconn workers is far lower than suicide rate in China? Depending on who you ask, the suicide rate in China is 14/100,000 (or 29/100,000). The suicide rate at Foxconn was 14/800,000 ... or around 2/100,000 in 2010, which was the high water mark. Last year, they had 4 attempts.

Not entirely sure if the data only includes suicide attempts at Foxconn location or if it's for all Foxconn workers.

Think you're not seeing the forest through the trees here. Yes, people commit suicide. How many of them do it where they work? The fact that you're championing "only" 4 at work suicide attempts is a bit disconcerting. I've been working in a place of business for over 17 years. Not once has some one tried to kill themselves at work, let alone 4 attempts in one year.

You hit the nail on the head...I find it hard to use this wonderful device when i think about all the innocent lives that were lost.

Oh good grief… It's been pointed out many, many times on this forum now that the suicide rate amongst Foxconn workers is lower than the suicide rate in the USA.

If that's what you really believe then I suggest you really shouldn't be buying Apple products.

This whole idea that one life is to too many to loose always befuddles me. In the grand scheme of things, "we" are less important than we like to think.

Really? And what's more important than human life pray tell?

I agree..Things in this country aren't much better. I was in line at Starbucks for my Venti White Chocolate Mocha and I was bumped from behind twice.

Read My post #55 above.

And 2 of many explanations is that
1: Asians love Gadgets
2: Asians love to show of how rich they are as much as they can.

Three factors contribute highly to this riot. Low supply, High Demand, and Apple is pricing it below the market value stipulated by those first two factors.

Continued, and increasing production helps with the first variable.

So Apple should start selling at $2,000 and reduce the price by $10 whenever they run out of buyers, until they reach the intended sale price.

First they suffer tragedy through the production process, then they risk being trampled while buying it. This is madness!

Best post of the AM. You scored really high on the Unintentional Comedy Scale.

However, if this is really how you feel, you may want to change your email sig...

In England back in October...

This was just a bit like the local Apple store last October. Several hundred Chinese immigrants (none of them spoke English) were bussed in by a gang-master to buy two iPhones each (the Apple store limit) to sell overseas - Dubai we're told. This caused stock to run out almost immediately. Mind you, the locals here didn't riot! Those at the wrong end of the queue just packed up quietly and went home.

Sorry, but you are being racist. If by 'here' you mean the UK, you are somehow forgetting the murder of some kid in tense Boxing Day sales on Oxford Street. Or did that not count, because the kid didn't meet your definition of an Englishman either.

This story is about a large angry crowd a little too eager for goods. The UK saw a lot of those not so long ago. There were plenty of white people in the news pictures, and they were throwing a lot worse than eggs.

The only difference is that these folks are after electronic goods, which happen to be popular in some Eastern cultures. Some cultures fight over training shoes, some over kitchenware, some over bottles of drinking water, some over a seat on a train (Euston to Manchester mainly) but everybody, no matter what their colour is capable of acting like an idiot when part of a big enough crowd.

China, a country where people hate America, yet, they love their products... Is it envy? Nonetheless, all humanity is this ****ed up, not just China - just look how crazy us westerners go about the launch of a new iPhone or iPad too...

Thats a silly thing to say, have you had the opportunity to ask every single Chinese person if they hate America?

I see people do this often, they look at the actions of a few, and judge a whole race/creed etc.. based on the negative experience .. In other words people generalize & stereotype..

he is being prejudice maybe, but not racist....that's not the correct way to use that term.
