I wonder if people who got an iPhone X through the IUP program, will have to wait until November if the new iPhone is being released earlier.
I think that if they make an early payment for September, October and November then they will be able to upgrade. if they cant afford it then they will have to wait.

On some of the mockups the bezels look slimmer on this years models. Or am I seeing things?

Assuming the proposed 6.1" budget model has 3GB RAM and the A12 processor, and only lacking dual camera and OLED, for $200 less, that may be a great option. I have no complaints with my 7 Plus screen so the 6.1 would be an upgrade. The only thing I would miss would be Portrait Mode which I do use most of the time I take pics.
Don't forget that there will most likely be software limitations too, as without them, it would be too easy for people to choose the budget model over the flagships.

I've also been seeing what I perceive to be thinner edges and a slightly smaller notch but like you it could be an optical illusion, or probably inaccuracies in the mockups. We'll find out in a few short weeks anyway.

I’ve always wondered who cares about these supply chain rumors. Do consumers really care which contract manufacturer is slated to assemble which product?

That would be a reasonable approach, let's see if AAPL agrees.

I’m still doubtful, but it would be amazing if Apple brings the X Plus in at $999.

Hopefully there’s no legitimate production issues. I’m already sensing this year for the X Plus will be similar to 2014 when the 6 Plus debuted. Fun times.

Line up looks strong, just picked up an X 256GB for £700 from a reseller (RRP £1150). I'm not banking on any price drops in the UK for this year due to lack of stability with Brexit due in March 2019.

Would be nice to see the “low cost” at 599 however I think you are right we will see it at $699 with lower base storage than the other two.

If 64GB storage is the new entry leve, I am welcome it. If the budget model has 3GB ram, I welcome that as well considering we were on 1GB for so long before transitioning to 2GB. 3D Touch/Force Touch not really going to miss it. Dual camera, never understood this. Most people use their phone cameras to capture day-to-day images, post on social networks, etc. If you are serious about photography or it is a business then you already have a DSLR. I am not aware of any professional taking out special event pictures/videos (weddings) with the iPhones dual camera. It is more of a marketing gimmick, until the next version that improves the camera and image marginally.

Just saying, why would anyone purchase a top of them line model for the camera, I would purchase the budget model and get a standalone entry DSLR (which will take out better pictures) and have money to spare as upgrading to the next years model would not be required. The biggest seller for the original iPhone 6 Plus was the OIS, once it was introduced into the iPhone 7 model, other than screen size and some camera/photo effects (won’t be used all the time, similar to overuse of PS filters/effects) one is better off having a phone that fits in your pocket and has some sort of one-hand usage.

You’ll miss out on the Promotion Display and this will be huge.

Out of curiosity where are you reading that the AMOLED models will have “ProMotion”? Plus I am not sure if a user will notice 120Hz refresh on a small display of the AMOLED models, on my iPad Pro 12.9” I do notice it, however on a smaller screen, not sure. I am curious if experiments and comparisons have been done.

I'm curious to see how much larger of a battery the X plus has over the normal model. I am pretty happy with my X battery life but I am always looking for more.

FaceID with 3GB of ram from my experience is very slow at unlocking, it is the biggest factor that I do not like the 2017 X model. I am very accustomed to the unlocking speed of TouchID 2, it is a step backwards and it started to get to me.

I need a phone now, but it's only 6-7 weeks until new ones. #torn :(

Was thinking of getting an 8 Red, but it's still soooo expensive for a soon to be deprecated model.

Just a mockup, no one cares. I am sure the promo images and videos once announced will make people drool and then the in-store hands-on experience will persuade people to purchase or upgrade. We have seen this time and time again.

I'd be in for an X Plus at $899, but if prices are likely as stated at the end of the article I'll be getting the LCD for $699.

What will be interesting is the storage tiers. If the LCD device has 64GB for $700 and the second generation X has 128 for $800 that will be quite the dilemma.

The second generation X will likely have 64GB for $900. ;)

If those prices are accurate, the plus and 5.8" size better have something else going for them other than OLED as very few folks will buy the pricier models. And dont say Force Touch as the additional feature. I'd pay to have that useless feature removed. Apple made yet another horrible design decision with Force Touch as there is aboslutely NO indication when this is available or not.

Was going to post similar. Don't think we will see ProMotion on OLED.

You're seeing things as these devices, like the current X, are edge-to-edge display with no bezel.

I'm still not a fan of that notch. I'm happy with my 8 and will wait till they figure out another way to implement their facial scanning. No memojies for me for a while....
If with "figuring out" you mean no-visible-bezel (beyond what we have currently have at the sides and the bottom of the iPhone X), that'll be a long wait. I'd say 10+ years. Cameras simply cannot get much smaller without compromising image quality (of at least the FaceTime camera). If you look at camera sizes in smartphones over the last ten years, they haven't really gotten smaller, rather the opposite. Yes, imaging sensors have become better but they are approach physical limits. Once sensors are able to count individual photons, that is the end of the line for sensor-based low light improvements. Only computational photography is really able to produce clearly noticeable improvements with phone cameras already.

If you mean, until they switch (back) to a (thinner-than the current notch height) full-width bezel, that could happen sooner. But even for that, they will tend to keep the same design language for at least a couple of years (the iPhone 4 design lasted only two years, but then the iPhone 5/5s design can be seen as derivation of it).

Cue the impending rumors about some key component being in short supply or having some kind of manufacturing issue, likely resulting in a shortage of new iPhones at launch. Must get the same old, same old frenzy stirred up. It's worked every single time through every generational release.

Or some silly *new* rumor.... such as a crippling Malware attack affecting the Production-line assembly computers.
Oh...wait...

I can see the iPhone X Plus potentially having split screen multitasking, if the screen ends up being in the neighborhood of the rumored 6.5". If iPad mini at 7.9" has split screen multitasking, I think this is a reasonable request. I'm unsure how utilitarian this would actually be, as this leaves 3.25" per each multitasked app, which is smaller than the original iPhone screen at 3.5".
Note that if you divide a 6.5" screen into four equal parts (with the same aspect ratio as the full screen), each will have a 3.25" diagonal. In portrait format (with the 2.165:1 aspect ratio of the iPhone X) that is too narrow. But in landscape mode, you'd get two almost square areas with a diagonal of about 4.1".

I have a feeling that the price points provided by Kuo aren't accurate. Apple isn't known to give out discounts and especially for new released products...We should expect these price points

iPhone 9 = (64GB) $799, (256GB) $949
iPhone XS = (128GB) $999, (512) $1049
iPhone XS Plus = (128GB) $1099, (512) $1249

Especially since the Note 9 is $1249 Apple wants that price point and bracket as well.
