In an in-depth article about Drake's push into the TV and film industry, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Apple has given the Toronto-born rapper permission to produce "whatever he chooses."

Here's what the report says, with emphasis ours:
Drake's exact strategy remains to be seen, but Apple says it will simply support whatever he wants to do, according to the report. After all, the artist has been an extremely valuable partner for Apple over the past few years.

Drake and Apple's Eddy Cue introduced Apple Music at WWDC 2015 via Associated Press

Not only did Drake help unveil and promote Apple Music on stage when it launched in 2015, but he became the first artist to top one billion streams on the service with his hit album "Views" last year. His show OVO Sound Radio on Apple's Beats 1 station also holds the record for the most listened-to episode to date.

"Drake almost single-handedly helped us become culturally relevant from the day we launched," said Robert Kondrk, a vice president of Apple Music.

The report claims American rapper Future, who is friends with Drake, may also have the green light from Apple to produce content.

"If I had a company today, I would give it to Drake and Future to run in a minute," said Jimmy Iovine, the record mogul who has worked at Apple since its $3 billion acquisition of Beats in 2014. "They're incredibly talented guys. Very, very gifted."

They don't enter the pool far enough "no sex/violence/drugs never- just G/PG please!" and then they jump in head first "do whatever you want, you're Drake, it's fine!"

Apple is not skilled at this game, at all. Just buy Netflix and get it over with.

    Dear Tim,

Stop trying to be so hip. We can also see that you're awful at making up your own content.

So please just do us a favor and blindly finance all the "Game of Thrones" prequels so they can be spectacular and often.

    Ditto for other popular shows.

Such backing alone will win the undying gratitude of millions :)

    Thanks.

Netflix is losing lots of money lately. Seems like a no brainer to buy but the pace at which it loses money should be concerning.

NO. I want G-rated unicorns and fluffy bunnies! No rapper can do that right!

(here's the sad part: I'm being serious.)

Ummm Drake started out in TV but anyways.

Whenever Iovine talks i'm left speechless about how this guy became a music mogul. He's the Eddie Cue of the music industry.

Amazing what Apple will let you do when you throw enough money their way.

"You can produce whatever you want,"

... "But if it doesn't make enough money, we'll drop you like a bad habit."

That is conservative. Drake is tame compared to some musicians.

What would you consider 'safe for the brand' ?

Future and Drake are garbage but they are popular so hopefully the sheep will go for it.

Makes sense. Apple is good at letting certain people do whatever they want with no oversight. Thats how we got Jony Ives overly thin macbook pros with compromised keyboards.

My eyeballs are rolling around in my head uncontrollably with this news.

Apple has lost it's way. Replace the name "Drake" with Eddie Cue and now you know why Apple Music is a pile of donkey crap.
