What is wrong with new keyboard for iPad?

It works fine - it is just too expensive relative to the cost of the device.

I also think the fact that old Magic Keyboards were not compatible with the redesigned iPad Pro dissuaded a lot of iPad Pro owners from upgrading. If you had the previous versions - not only did you have to buy the new device, you also had to buy a new Keyboard, rendering your old $350 keyboard useless. Interestingly - the current iPad Air is compatible with both the old iPad Pro Magic Keyboards and the Smart Folio Keyboard. Buying a new $350 keyboard every few years with a new iPad just isn’t going to cut it when Apple is selling full laptops for $599

That is Tim Cook where every thing is really expensive now. It crazy a keyboard cost $350 or iPad case cost $100 or iPad pencil cost $100

No - and that’s the whole point. I think my first Apple laptop was a MacBook Pro at like $1,800. I can now by a comparable MacBook Air for $899 or whatever from Amazon. Not to mention Macbook Neo, Mac Mini, etc. In terms of actual devices the iPad Pro is kind of unique in that the price has continued to go up while other comparable devices in the lineup have gotten cheaper and better, which is why we are here discussing bad iPad Pro sales.

I had MacBook Pro in 2011 at cost of $1,300. Before Tim Cook changed every thing.

Few humans anywhere need both an iPad and a laptop, no matter how tricked out. Most just pick one or the other and use that. Given a laptop has a larger screen and is more useful for work, most adults just use their laptops and phones for everything else. Other adults use the larger iPad Pro with a keyboard case in the same manner. Both are redundant. Actually, among my friends, the iPad mostly ends up in the hands of kids......age 5-teenagers.....to play on.

I think only people who have both are pro users or tech nerds.

Say`s android by the numbers.
Apple says they had record money flow but bad sales says who?>
Say`s Android! Don't believe a word said.
Competition of News Papers!

Maybe part of the problem is that they last a long time. I have an iPad Pro that's 2 years old. It has an M1 processor that seems to be way more than enough for an iPad. Why buy a new one?

I had to go through this nonsense, but to be fair although the keyboard is expensive it’s worth it. Well built from aluminium and just more refined than the mk1 keyboard with faster charging. It also has dynamic backlit keys which light up depending on how dark it is. This is what i mean by quality of life improvements, the neo does not have backlit keys at all, let alone dynamically lit.

How come 6+ million units sold of a device specific model is not enough and “bad”.
Because Apple said “we wanted to sell more and didn’t”?!
What an insane spoiled stance…

Pretty sure if some of the mid-ranged iPad models would be removed some of the people would buy lower ones and others migrate to these iPad Pros, increasing their share and fixing this “problem”, but also yet another cohort would just not buy anything.
Same if they removed these higher ends or the lower ends: some would bleed to other tiers and others wouldn’t buy anything in the end.
Talk about wanting to have their cake and eat it too.

Accept the numbers, try to lower the prices over time if possible and let it be… they are great devices and are selling.

Bro I don’t agree with you :

- Base iPad is for brokies
- iPad mini is for kids
- iPad Air is for normal people
- iPad Pro is for rich

(ok this might not be exact but it gives an idea, more you pay, more you get)
The Air is literally the best device overall. Once it gets the 120Hz, the Pro is cooked.

The latest MagicKeyboard also has a functions keys row! I found myself using it a lot after all.

The iPad Pro is just too expensive IMO.
Add an extra few hundred just for a keyboard! Yes its lovely, but its way overpriced.

You can pick up a MacBook Air, with an iPad Air for the same price as an iPad Pro - if not cheaper!!
Unless you have a specific use case for the power in an iPad form factor, it just isnt worth it IMO.

May be Apple will lower the price of it now because of this.

Nothing is wrong with the Smart Keyboard for the lane that it keeps. It's handy when using my iPad Pro in "laptop mode".

What I liked about the old Keyboard Folio was that it made the iPad more mobile and versatile. I could flip it around to the back like the Smart Folio and use the iPad while walking around drawing plans for a project. When I got back to the site office, I could use the keyboard to type out the notes on the visit. I kept that Keyboard folio on my old iPad Pro 75% of the time and used the Smart Keyboard 25% of the time when in my office.

It was a great option, and I wish they would bring it back.

The iPad Pro needs some software to push it, at the moment the majority of what I can do on mine I could do on a base model iPad, but the screen is nicer.

before we need an iPad ultra, we need more software.

The Pro has a Tandem OLED and an M5 chip. There is a night and day difference between the Air and Pro.
Yes, but considering the cost difference, the Air is more than enough for majority of people. iPad is not Mac, so the Air vs Pro on the Mac is not the same as Air vs Pro on the iPad for example. On the Mac the difference matters for far more use cases and people.

Is photoshop now available for the iPad?

All the macrumors here saying it coming to iPad Mini this year and the iPad Air next year.
Yes a single stack OLED display for the ipad air and mini (around 500 nits ish), not the same tandem oled in the iPP which is much brighter and less susceptible to burn in. Still though single stack oled will be a big improvement but not sure if will also get Promotion.
