is there a jailbreak or download yet for siri on iphone 4?

A tethered jailbreak. There is Siri on the iPhone 4, but good luck finding a download! Unlike jailbreaking tools, the Siri on iPhone 4 download is VERY illegal. Sure, it's not that bad to put Siri on your iPhone, but any site that posts it as a download is in risk of being taken down, and they are breaking the law by putting Apple's stuff for download on their site.

I'll be happy when the mac gets some Siri love.

Don't count on it. It's less useful on the Mac, and even some of the stuff I really need is iOS only (like the TiVO remote).

Until I can get Applescript or Java to send telnet commands to a server whenever I press a button, I can't make the TiVO remote

If you are looking at just the radio to judge iPhone I have to say you are out of the loop. IPhone is about having a computer in your pocket, in that regard the 4s is an excellent upgrade.

Didn't you read my post before clicking the reply button?

I said the new hardware on the iPhone 4S is good and thus agreeing with the poster I was replying to who wrote the iPhone 4S was a worthy upgrade.

Yes because the first thing anyone thinks about on a phone is its performance specs
In reality, only the features really matter. Isn't Apple based off of a better experience rather than better specs? :apple:
Look at the Droid X. It had better specs than the iPhone, and it could technically do more, but it was still a piece of @#$%.

So the fact that it is faster, has more memory, works better and takes better pictures are just irrelevant? So exactly what do you consider to be a better experience? I think I am having a better experience and so far, Siri has been pretty much useless. But I am still happy I upgraded from my iPhone 4.

I agree, release it as an upgrade maybe, because I'm a little peeved I can't get it on my ipad2 at almost $700 with tax that I just bought. Never Mind the 17" MBP I bought the same day. I mean for $700 you can buy a pretty kick ass 17" PC Laptop. I think after enough years of this even us fanboys will start to revolt being toyed with. The economy being what it is, even I might skip the iPad 2.5 or 3 or whatever it's going to be.

Okay, so you say you bought a $2500 MBP and you think you could have bought a pretty kick ass PC laptop for $700? You do see how stupid that sounds? Just for the record, there are no kick ass PC laptops. Unless you load Windows on a MBP, that is.

" Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices."

Not entirely accurate. It's even been shown to work on a 3GS.
I just watched that video too. It is seriously all in the cloud. Just like the voice recognition on my Samsung.

who is surpised be this. Apple needs some BS reason to encourage people to update to the 4S.

From the past BS blocking
the iPhone 3G could not shoot video (that was 100% BS blocking)
first gen iPhone did not get MMS an I am not even sure it got copy past (again BS blocking)
iPhone 3G did not get voice controls (100% BS)

I believe there were several BS things in the 3GS for iOS 4.

I do not mind the fact that the 3GS did not get Facetime. I can understand that. There was a legit hardware lacking issue but the other crap they pulled is rather insane.

This is funny watching the people defending Apple arguments break down on why Siri is not on anything but the 4S.
First it was need an A5 chip (proven to be 100% bull as it works great on a 3GS)
Then it was Siri is a Beta
Now that Apple has shown that to be Bull they are now trying to defend Apple screwing over the customers. To me this blocking tells me that they are not sure the iPhone 4S could stand on its own for a reason to upgrade with out Siri.

I don't think it's stupid at all. This is the first time I've ever written a fanboy message, preferred to stay out of it. I'm a fanboy, but not a pig-headed one. I priced a pretty nice $700 laptop with our Dell rep - 17" with discrete graphics etc. I've been in this business a long time, and I rarely see users that even tax their OfficeMax and staples $299 special laptops - much less know how to use anything but basic stuff. It's all about software - I use CS 5.5 on both platforms and they are 99% Identical - so software is software. And I can produce the same quality of work on either platform, just as fast as one another. There's a time and place for every platform, model, and pricepoint. For most users a $300 laptop offers a lot of value... Especially for just surfing the web etc. I did however buy my mom a Mac. So I'm your friend, but don't be a tech snob. You will only lose. Personally, I would never just own a mac and a pc anyway - even with boot camp etc.
I also have IOS devices, android devices, and even some touchpads, and in some ways they all best each other and could all learn some lessons. The only thing the wise man knows is all the things they don't.

Make sense. Apple has been pimping Siri like crazy to promote the iPhone 4S. Take away Siri and the ONLY thing that the 4S would have is speed and camera, which despite being good upgrades would make it very difficult for Apple to convince 4 owners to switch.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

The same people bitching about how much Siri was pointless and wasn't worth the upgrade are the same ones bitching about apple not giving it to older devices!!!!
You want Siri?? Buy an iPhone 4S. If you don't wanna upgrade then ****!!!!

You can barely market the camera and processor to the masses. Siri sells, even if it is nothing more than a cloud service.

Can't argue with the GPU and dual processor, plus Bluetooth 4.0 upgrades ( they are good ).. the camera is really quite good too... but HSPDA+ phones have been on the market for quite some time now!

I never said they weren't I just said that there are a lot of upgrades that he has not searched I also know that HSDA+ phones have been out for a while.

Has anyone actually done any formal benchmarks on the performance of Siri on the iPhone 4? All I've heard is that it "works great". Well, that's highly subjective, and perhaps it doesn't work as great as some say.

Yeah, that was pretty much point. Siri will not come to any other device for a long time.

I bet it won't even come to the iPad 2 even though its dictation would come in handy when browsing forums on it.

*IF* and this is a big IF... should Siri come to other devices it will be like a year or so later when it is no longer the new kid on the block. By then Apple will be selling the iPad 2 based on the Retina display and iPhone 5 based on LTE.

Sorry guys

I really don't know why you guys are all complaining....
OBVIOUSLY Apple is making this a feature so you would upgrade.

Actually I remember all you guys saying 4S sucks etc etc, no one would buy etc etc, something like ""pshhhh, there are no differences in iPhone 4 and 4S anyways..."

Now, it's the fastest selling Apple product ever, and you guys, who all didn't upgrade, are complaining that Apple is lying... blaming Apple not implementing this feature to older devices....
Okay I get it...

But quit your complaining. It works on older devices. GREAT. If you didn't upgrade, then just wait for your jailbreak version then........

Why don't we start a petition by email or so? Gimme a page where I can sign up and I will do, would love Siri on my Iphone4

When is the ipad 2 an older device. Oh well glad I can afford all these toys and deduct them at end of year. ;)

My understanding that most of it is done off site so it really does very little to impact the actually phone. iphone 4 and ipad 2 can run it, and it could always be optimized to run it. ios 5 runs better on my older iphone 4 than ios 4 ever did.

Since I still have the older iphone 4 for another in the family I notice that the ios 5 runs equal or better than ios 4 did.

----------

What's the point of supporting it on older devices if the Siri servers are just going to go down for days on end?

One world comes to mind. "Beta"

If Siri comes out for iphone 4 or ipad 2 it will not be until Siri is cooked to its full.

So don't expect that for some time.
