Apple has yet to finalize the display size for its planned 2024 iPhone SE 4, display analyst Ross Young said in a tweet today that was shared with Super Followers. Apple is mulling a number of decisions related to the size of the display and the display material.

The company is said to be considering 6.1-inch OLED displays from two suppliers, as well as 5.7 to 6.1-inch LCDs from two suppliers. Given this information, it is as of yet unclear whether Apple will go with a 5.7-inch display or a 6.1-inch display, and whether that display will use OLED technology or LCD technology.

An OLED display would be more expensive, with the current iPhone SE model using an LCD display with thick bezels and a Touch ID Home button. Apple's flagship iPhone lineup is equipped with OLED panels, with all models using OLED since the iPhone 12.

It is possible that OLED panels have come down in price enough for Apple to use them for the low-cost iPhone SE, especially as it is not set to launch for another two years.

Both the 5.7 and 6.1-inch display sizes have been rumored in the past, including from Young himself. That Apple has not yet made a final decision explains why we continue to hear about two different panel sizes.

Regardless of whether Apple goes with a 5.7-inch display or a 6.1-inch display, Young believes the iPhone SE 4 will feature an all-display design with a notch, but it is not yet known if Apple will introduce Face ID or stick with Touch ID, and rumors vary on this point.

Please make an iPhone SE with the X body and an 5.7” LCD screen 🤞🏻
Agreed, that would be amazing.

Hopefully the innards would be reconfigured to be like the 14 so you have a very easy to repair components with cheap screen replacements.

I'm also assuming that this phone would have just x1 camera too (which is no bad thing - most people just want to snap a photo or start filming without decing what lens to use - they just want a great all-round camera that makes decisions for them).

I'm more surprised this guy has super followers than about the report itself... But he also mentioned adding an 'embargo' on his super follower tweets to combat articles like this 😂

Now this would be cool, but going by history they tend to reuse an old design rather than come up with a new one.
I know, I know. I consider the X, XS and 11pro an old and used design. I don’t think it would be that difficult to put an LCD instead of an OLED in there, but maybe it is more difficult that it seems.

Anyway, be an LCD or an OLED, if it’s on the X/XS/11Pro size, I’ll probably buy it with my eyes closed, and if it’s OLED well, I’ll deal with the PMW 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ridiculous, we all know it’s just going to be another recycled old model. Most likely the XR or whatever they have left in the parts bin.

The iPhone X was 5.8” so it’s most likely not it, unless they cheapen it with larger bezels of course. ”Something only Apple could do”… 😂

Sorry, it’s Monday…

You're right, but I think that people are starting to get annoyed with Apple's recycling.

For a company with such deep pockets using 5+ year old designs constantly just seems miserly.

The 2022 SE was a critical failure and if reports are to be believed, a commercial failure too.

Especially when at that price point, you can get pretty good android phones with modern form factors - and Apple expects everyone to be happy with the 2014 iPhone.

As I mentioned above, there's surely a lot of things that they can do by using the clever internal chassis of the 14 and then create a 'Frankenstein' phone from previous industrial design greatest hits - I'm thinking of the equivalent of the 10th gen iPad.

I thought I'd read an article on MR that the next SE would come out in 2023? Or was that rumour discounted?
