Does it really matter in the slightest what the figure is..

Wildly expensive luxury device... lol lol lol.
600 pounds new in the uk, 35 pounds a month on contract. That is absolutely not luxury or expensive!!!

yes, as it would be interesting to know apples market share and potential new customers.

I reported it to the police every time. They couldn't do anything and t-mobile has security down to a "t".
Always have a seller do a complete reset of the phone in front of you. That proves they know the password and should remove all traces of them from the phone and iCloud so it cannot be reported as stolen.

We know that there is undeniably more Android users out there than iPhone users, but the proportion doesn't seem to be as dramatic as some pundits are making it out to be.
As well, outside of the techy crowd that inhabit forums like this, there are a lot of people who have Android phones because they don't care (they wanted a smartphone or their feature phone broke and the low-end Android phone was cheap), and a lot of people who have iPhones because they do care (sure, some of them for entirely superficial reasons - they favorite reality TV star has one, or some such, but a lot who buy the higher priced iPhones on purpose, because they want what the phones do - I, for one, like the strong ties to a lot of Mac software). It's been shown repeatedly that iOS customers are generally more valuable, more likely to buy apps and such.

This! I really can't fathom why Apple doesn't cut their margin in half on the SE so they can grab a massive market share in those areas of the world that simply can't afford the flagship models. (only in those markets of course - still hose those of us in NA and other developed countries). :)

I'm sure a big part of why they don't trim margin in the "first world" is due to the warranty and support costs. Just look around all the entitled, whiney buggers here on MR - you know these costs per handset have to be huge.
Well if you research the earnings figures I'm sure you'll find that the vast majority of money comes from iPhone, not from services. Apple has always been in the hardware business, the services are a side business. It will require a massive market share and even more willing customers to spend more money on services. I'm also not convinced that certain markets would spend much extra money on services.

Umm. You sure you didn't mean to quote someone else? I wasn't talking about service revenue at ALL. :)

They buy the phone and then buy insurance, sell it to me and then report it stolen. It then gets blacklisted and they get a new non-blacklisted phone. Jerks!!!!
If you have any of your communications with these people (texts, e-mails), then you should turn everything over to the police. What they've done is committed fraud. Insurance fraud. That's going to be mandatory jail time.
(and, you should get your money back).

It's been over a year.
Since the sale, but they just now had the carrier blacklist the phone?

You DID have it setup in iCloud and "find my iPhone", right? The phone is still listed in your Apple support profile?

See, this is where you should be able to get Apple to fight the carrier for you. As far as Apple's concerned, whoever has the phone secured via iCloud is the rightful owner. I'd call Apple Support, explain what's happened and get them to push back on the carrier on your behalf.
