Under Procedures on page 2, the consent document describes the events that will happen if the Study App identifies pulse irregularities, which includes the phone call and use of an ePatch to monitor heart rhythm. I think by signing the consent document we have already provided consent for this, though we always have the option to withdraw from the study if we don't want to comply. Sending information to your physician requires additional consent.

Thanks for bird-dogging that. I'll go back and read that (since I obviously didn't before I joined!).

will not loose the AP during the switch of the iPhone or AW

now i hope they will let me start again

I have the heart study running on two different iPhones. When I got accepted on one I was not accepted on the other yet. Eventually got accepted on both and the email address I used on each one was the same and now I have the same study id number on each iPhone. Samples get collected at different times on each iPhone. I have each iPhone paired with a different watch and I've been wearing each watch daily while I am at home.

I'm just wondering if you tried restoring your old iPhone backup onto the new one.

When I went to the Apple store At 11AM I backed up my old iPhone 6S+ to my MBP and to the cloud.
bought the new iPhone 8+ restore from backup and the Heart study was gone,
that what the person from the heart study said today, you are going to loose it every change od new device, you will have to start all over,
so that what i did today reset my AW and applied again

Odd. That seems like a guaranteed way to lose participants, so if you were planning a study over a period longer than one year, or maybe more realistically longer than two years, you would not want participants dropping out that way.

Exactly. In addition I wonder how they handle data they are collecting on the same person starting the study over on a new device. It looks like a good way to screw up your enrollment numbers.

Just to keep myself happy I'd probably just assume that they're adding it onto your old stats. lol. Ignorance is bliss. Sure would be nice if they brought those counts back. Now I'm hoping I don't destroy my iPhone or have to get it replaced.

It seems to me that they are losing data that could be avoided in cases like yours where you made every effort to not lose even a day. Others less dedicated would probably not bother and just drop out. They must have a way of connecting data collected from the same subject on 2 different phones or their enrollment numbers would be inaccurate. I'm sure Stanford knows what they are doing otherwise they are going to have a mess when next year's new phones and watches start shipping.

80 here now 14 days in study and 118 contributions probably getting all the readings they can while I am still around
I’m soon to be 42, female. Joined the heart study 34 days ago, with 254 contributions so far. Why so many contributions taken from me? My husband is almost 50, joined around the same time as me, with half as many contributions taken. What gives ?

The app talks about “depending how active you are...”.

I have 172 contributions in 23 days which is about 7.5 a day while you are close to the same. I am 54.

32 days, 235 contributions.

I was sick for a week and did not wear my watch much so I should have more contributions, but I am glad to still be in the study!

Edit: I was getting about 11 readings a day until I got sick. Now I am averaging about 7.5 readings a day. Still, I am happy I can help out in any way possible!

I really like Apples ResearchKit. I think in the future, as more studies come along and also as the Apple Watch advances there will be some breakthrough studies. We are the generation that has the best shot at coming up with cures for some of the worst diseases out there through these, and future studies. God Bless!

if you not wearing it it doesn't take a reading maybe you were your AW more hours then him

They should be buying everyone who participates in the study a watch. I've participated in many studies and the pay can be really good. That was smart of this company to team up with Apple to get so many participants without having to give us anything.

Well people buy Apple Watches regardless of the studies going on, however, Apple and in regards to this study Stanford University realized that hey, people wear their watches all day, so why not create studies that take advantage of the technology in the Apple Watch to potentially HELP people with these terrible diseases!

Apple does not need to give people Apple Watches for being in the study, nor does it need to pay people. Are people really getting that selfish that if they already have an Apple Watch and participate in a study they expect to get paid? I mean come on, you are helping your fellow human out! Think about this. One day, the results of the studies that Apple has going on with these universities could help you if God forbid you get heart disease or Parkinson's. Be happy people have zero issue doing this stuff for free, because it could help save you or a family member from these terrible diseases.

One last thing. Most medical studies pay well because they are somewhat dangerous. All you have to do in Apple's studies are wear your watch just like you would even if you were not in a study. You literally do not have to change one thing in your wearing habits.

Terribly selfish world we live in!

And Apple with their outrageous prices for devices aren't selfish?

Two members in my family are Drs and my sister is a nurse Anesthetist it's not selfish getting paid for medical and drug studies if that's what your insinuating.

A lot of study reimbursement is for the inconvenience of time spent at visits for study procedures and parking/transportation expenses. There is no inconvenience or expense related to participating in the Heart Study, plus there is the potential to get information that would be beneficial to your health.
