the only life changing product EVER from Apple is the iPhone. (some can argue ipod, but I never liked it's lack of file compatibility or the required usage of iTune)

considering there are many more (and arguably better) smart phone already in the market, people will buy Apple watch purely on Apple brand and its potential. And some will be disappointed with its short coming. (i.e. battery life and lack of sensors)

Maps is a good example. If the initial experience consumers have is negative it's going to make them less likely to buy/use the product. How many people had a bad experience(s) with Apple maps and never went back? Launching this product smoothly and with as few bugs as possible is super important.

My guess is very few people had this experience. Maps is incredibly popular. I never had a bad experience with it and it loaded much faster than Google Maps. I think most iPhone users use Maps instead of Google Maps. I just had to check to see if I had the app downloaded onto my i6. I do, but I doubt I've used it in months or even in a year going back to my i5.

See you in line....while I'm sitting at home laughing.

So in this hypothetical scenario in which you attempt to come off as superior, you're watching the OP wait in line, yet you're also at home just laughing to yourself. Creepy and poorly thought out! :p

Disappointed it doesn't have the battery life of a product that doesn't exist? Or that they can't play games on it, or stare at the screen all day long like an Iphone... Oops... Can't do that, the Iphone must suck then! Disapointed about what exactly?

As for sensors, what other watch has more and better sensors? Or are you comparing the Apple Watch with all existing watches as a whole, it has to beat all the them in aggregate ?

I wonder if that's why the Apple in Greensboro, NC was closed to the public this afternoon. They had a sign in the door indicating a training event for employees was being held.

I'm getting a silver one. If maps/transit apps work on the watch, its worth it to me for just that.
As an aside, I wonder what added app functionality is a part of the watch sdk. I have a feeling that TC decided to hold back a couple things just to create more hype when it launches. Maybe I'm just hoping...:)

Supposedly, right now, Apps are mostly extensions of Iphone Apps (like a second screen for them). But, when dev get a hold of the watches (maybe letting a big of time pass to iron out the initial kins), they'll allow development of apps on the watch itself, using more of its resources. Makes sense, they don't want rogue apps killing the battery life and people blaming Apple, especially in the fist few months.

I heard plenty of exactly the same snarkiness upon the iPad's arrival.
I got one 30 minutes after it was released (150 people in line ahead).
Yes, it was life changing.

Fast forward a year or so and you'll see the few early adopter Apple watches languishing in dresser drawers.

You must be new to Apple products. Fast forward a year and you'll see the first gen going for 200-250 on eBay while the early adopters upgrade to gen 2.

it's life changing.. how? Because it's a blown-up version of iPod touch?

I remember being very excited about the iPad, but I was hoping for a touch version of OSX instead of a bigger version of IOS

I can't help but feel anything Apple does in regard to upcoming technologies (eg Retina display previously, Apple Watch, iPhone 6+/7 etc) will always be "oh.... we've hit a snag.... we must race to get this done." or even apps with helping developers finish.

I think this is the norm.

Standard issues,nothing to see here.

Nostradamus???? I didn't know you had access to the interweb.

I can see Tim Cook's influence of have a very organized way of doing things. They're asking for apps ahead of time so they can test the Apple watch and ensure that it works with developers' apps. In addition, they're getting good feedback for additions to the SDK.

I also see now what's happening with the iOS releases. iOS 7 was a visual revamp. iOS 8 was a feature revamp. iOS 9 is a stability revamp. It's a nice progression. Apple has a nice UI and a feature set that more or less doesn't have any major gaps. Now they are going to polish everything.

It would be nice for iPhone 4s owners to get that iOS "trifecta" because unstable iOS 8 is not what you want to be left with. Since iOS 9 is mostly about stability and cleaning up iOS 8, I think the A5 should be able to handle it.

What's stranger than the guy waiting on line for a product when they don't have to?

The guy watching the first guy at home and laughing.

Tim Cook didn't say the watch would launch "in April", he said it was on target to launch "by April". That could turn out to be a significant difference. April 30 is the latest we'll see it in the shops, but it could be earlier, say March sometime if the 3rd party apps are up to snuff by now, or before the end of this month anyway.

I can confidently predict that the Apple Watch won't launch on April 1st however!
