Absolutely. When I say "It makes no sense to me" it is me saying it! :)

And feel free to take it as a request to explain why it makes sense to you.

Who said Apple was a small company?

Anyway, no he didn't say Apple wants to buy the phone unit. He said the rumour was one word, "motorola". You guess it's a phone buyout. However, in a subsequent post he links to a different written on April-fools-day that says Apple has already bought Motorola.

That doesn't mean that the original one word "motorola" doesn't have some meaning, perhaps it does. Perhaps it even relates to this thread about a mystery product transition and a new product.

Yes this supposed insider said that the one word hint was "motorola" and that "its not what you think". I incorrectly assumed it had something to do with that april fools's article.
Lets assume for the moment that it has something to do with motorola.

What could it be then?

The insider said that when the announcement hits its going to be like a nuke strike. I've looked motorola up and down and I can't figure out how motorola (a company in major trouble) would be involved in this. The only thing I could come up with that made any sense to me was that article suggesting Apple would buy the motorola phone unit regardless it being an april fool's rumor article.

think different motorola

remember when moto just made TV's? Perhaps Apple is going to put a TV tuner into every mac at no extra charge. Plus HDMI. DVR obvi. What more to become a media hub? Bluray.

Better yet, put all that into the mac mini. It replaces apple tv. That's what made apple tv a hobby, it's just a holding place for the ihub. That'll cut down on your set top boxes.

how about merge apple tv and mac mini, even better!

So the September event has come and gone. Obviously the focus was on iPod and there are still rumors of an October event for computers.

However, I'm left wondering: what about this aledged "new" product by years end that was mentioned?

If it is true, perhaps October? I have to assume anything would be announced by December, otherwise they'd miss a large chunck of the holiday season.

Certainly those of us who expected new MB/MBPs in August were wrong. I see now that when they said a product transition would affect revenues in Q4, they meant revenues would be affected because the product transition would not occur in Q4.

I can't imagine, though, that we won't see new laptops before the holiday sales season. And if Apple is delaying them this long it could mean significant new features. But I'm just glad I got the Macbook with free Touch in June; I've been able to enjoy both for three months already.

I say, how about merging apple tv, mac mini (with Blu-ray) and a 1920x1080 pixel 42 inch LCD display with TV tuner(s) - that will be the real kick-ass must buy Apple TV. Wait a minute — that sounds like the upcoming 42" iMac, doesn't it? Anyway, That will be my dream TV set and I would pay 2 grand for it. Just plug the TV screens anywhere in the house and you are all set!

Tablet rumors did state an October possibility of release.

Wow. Looks like we totally missed that way of seeing things.

New Products...sceptical

I am definitely looking forward to Macbook updates. Aluminum is going to look really good on a 13.3'' macbook. Very Nice, how much?

The lack of a netbook and all those cheapie PCs pull sales away in the recession?

Probably not.

The netbooks are niche products with too little power to be really effective computers for the retail market, which is where Apple thrives.

And Apple might lower prices a bit, but we've been in a recession for some time now and Apple continues to see huge growth month to month.
