Seeing as how tvOS was mentioned as a separate entity, I do not think this is a merging of audioOS and tvOS.

This does kind of sound like a rebranding of HomeKit, except the OS part implies that it’s an operating system for a specific product line.

My personal uneducated guess is that it’s either a new operating system for HomePods, or it’s for a new product/line like that rumored HomePod with a screen. Perhaps Apple’s version of a home security hub/platform?

Perhaps bring the current OSs to the level where they can be released without requiring multiple point releases two weeks (or less) later, before thinning those apparently stretched resources further?
I dunno, just a thought.

"You'll get to work with system engineers across Apple, learning the inner-workings of iOS, watchOS, tvOS and homeOS, and optimizing your code for performance in ways only Apple can."

Soooooo... Apple is replacing iPadOS with HomeOS?

Or are these not meant to be read literally? A bit confused here.

Since they dont mention IpadOS on the text, could that be the new OS for iPads (m1)? More powerful, full featured OS designed to. be the center of your home and allowing you to work from there.

Awesome!
Hopefully this is the solid home automation, assistant and home interaction move we've been wanting.

My guess is a new branch of Apple devices that includes a security system like cameras and software to run them.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the lack of iPadOS in that job description and maybe this engineer just wouldn't work on it, but you would think if it's about integrating all of the mobile OS's, there would be a mention of it.

Therefore, I am drawn to the speculation that this might be replacing iPadOS...very curious...

There are an increasingly large amount of OS's and I don't think it's going to stop here.

Obviously, homeOS is the long-overdue branding identity for HomeKit products.

"Interestingly, the job listing mentions homeOS as a "mobile platform," seemingly highlighting it as more akin to iOS and watchOS than systems like macOS and tvOS". Wasn't this the derivation iOS branch became TVos, a TVos branch runs Homepods. HomePods rely on A series Chips, Apple TVs use A series chips, HomePod Minis use S series chips (Apple Watch). so Homekit actually runs on the Mobile platform, even if it is not Mobile. so maybe an internal designation in Apple? Nothing to see here folks move along

HomePod is already referred to as audioOS though.
Where? it is a branch of TVOS which was a branch of iOS. I've never heard of audioOS. I'm on the developer beta program, make frequent updates, generally HomePod has an update when TVOS is updated.
