Association. Apple is equivalent to great people.
I'm still not following. Google has a MLK 'doodle' on its website right now. No one seems to care. To me its much ado about nothing.

I hear ya. I am not sure why this is an issue for so many people.
MLK was just as good as car salesman as Obama.
As far as MLKs dream, it's barely alive. Ferguson etc. seem to show a different dream.
Ferguson was barely about racism. What it was really about is a whiny group of thugs who believe they are above the law because their great, great, great, great, great grandparents might have been slaves. Add to that the con men from the "we done found ourselves some racism" industry who show up for "justice" only when someone black is involved and you have a recipe for a mess.
I'm a bit tired of people thinking PR is some even plot to control our minds. Are we that weak?

Thugs, huh? Just say what you really want to say.

Ferguson was about a lot of issues.
But I doubt not expecting to be shot to death for a traffic stop has anything to do with anyone relatives being former slaves or not.
I don't care, but it a smart move to Apple to do this even if they don't have the intention to build their brand while doing it.
It is no secret Tim Cook see's MLK as a hero, so it just as easily could be a "win" "win" on Apples part.
Google does doodles for everything, and mostly because people visit their homepage everyday and people enjoy seeing something different when they go to do a search. - They also do it so often, most don't think of it nearly as much as when Apple does.
This is basically what I think about it: Last Week Tonight - Corporations on Twitter.
Apple should stop doing this. This man campaigned for equal rights, Apple make computers. There is zero overlap. It's embarrassing.
It is certainly not a publicity or marketing opportunity. Seriously, did Apple really lose all of their class the day Steve passed?
You too naive
Take pharmaceutical companies, for example. They invent drugs which may actually save human lives. Is it now tasteful if they promote their company using the image and reputation of civil rights activists?
Apple tripping over itself. I want to see a special Apple page to commemorate Mother Teresa.
Yes thugs. If humans are essentially same regardless of race then it follows that there there are both black and white thugs. The former were in prominence in Ferguson.
Location: Arizona. No further explaination needed about your views. However one should be expected to be shot to death for attacking a policeman regardless of cultural or racial differences.
So have many companies, in ways far more profound than Apple could ever dream to.
How about oil companies? They're no more destructive to the planet than Apple are (I mean it - mining for raw materials is very damaging!). On the other hand, they provide us with far more fundamental necessities such as heating, lighting, transportation so we can import food, etc. They have arguably done much, much more for the human race than ten Apples.
If Apples goal is to improve peoples lives I'm surprised it isn't doing more with its $150,000,000,000 cash reserve.

Gonna start paying those Foxcon workers a typical middle class wage, Tim?
I think it's only certain political, social, and economical issues that Apple chooses to involve itself with. Religion thus far is a big Apple no no.
