Cool. This is a nice reminder that in spite of Apple flaws these days, they really are (still) a little different than, say microsoft flogging their surface on their homepage, dell.com flogging their latest crappy laptops, etc.

Apple has an air of class that the other tech companies just don't seem to "get".

Very cool. I wish they would have done one for Prince (I live a mile or so from Paisley Park) though he was never associated with Apple so I suppose it might have come across odd.

Honoring someone as a role model who died at an overdose? That would be odd...

Well, he was against digital music and he did have that whole drug thing going on. So I guess they decided to stay away from that one.
Except it was prescription painkillers used most likely due to chronic pain. The guy certainly wasn't known for abusing substances (didn't smoke, rarely drank etc.).

Anyway I never saw a Google doodle for Ali. Did they not pay tribute? Seems odd.

Huh? The guy was certainly not known for abusing substances at all and certainly didn't encourage anyone to use drugs. Tens of thousands of good people die every year from prescription painkiller overdose. Anyway if I had to predict the next person that Apple pays tribute to on their website it would probably be Jimmy Carter.

A lifetime of bullying and belittling outside the ring - I was never a fan.
Oh come on, that's merely bluster meant to psych out your opponent..... heard all the time before boxing or wrestling matches.

In his heyday, Ali was the greatest boxer who ever lived, who privately was a peace-loving man.

Interesting quote Tim used cause I can't remember the last time Apple did something risky.

Like building a car? You got any ideas what they should risk at this point?
And please no ugly bezel-free iPhone..

Yeah, whatever you say.

Yeah, you don't give a ****, do you? Just like the Greatest of All Times himself, you little joker! ;)

Okay - a dystopian view of the future... at least M.A. has a real accomplishment. Fame ain't what it used to be.

I hope this isn't the future.

Thanks Apple, now please fix itunes, ios, elcapitan, iphone with decent battery life and put decent dedicated gpus back in macs from the last century.

Obviously they care more about other things theses days. Being green, ending racism, ending homophobia and being politically correct and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'm none of the above but come on work on what you sell!

Yeah, at 91 anything could happen and though now apparently cancer-free, all that radiation and chemotherapy have taken a toll on him and he looks quite frail lately. A wonderful human being, an ineffective president perhaps, but a thoroughly decent and honorable human being. I remember one of his election promises was to restore honor to the highest office in the land (in the aftermath of Nixon and Watergate) which he certainly did.

His ill-fated effort to rescue the hostages held by the Iranian revolutionary guard was an unmitigated disaster, but I believe his greatest mistake was to trust the USSR's Brezhnev with the latter's promise of 'detente', but without verification, Moscow embarked on the largest peace-time arms built-up in history.

Amongst many other things, he deserves a lot of credit for his humanitarian efforts, his work with Habitat for Humanity, and his many international conflict-resolution diplomatic efforts. As a very active elder statesman, his passing when it eventually comes, will be a great loss for humankind and definitely merits a tribute by Tim Cook.

Ali will be missed. His unabashed approach to race and politics helped move this country forward in so many ways.

I'm a Canadian, I couldn't care less what happens in your country, politically.

This statement right here tells me all that I needed to know. I was wondering what the ploy was.

Anyone that considers themselves educated should in fact care about what happens on the world stage. As an American, I was elated to hear that Canada got it's act together politically when it elected Justin Trudeau.

Now, your neighbor to the south, the one that IS the world power, is about to elect a mad man and you don't care?

Not to mention, you have some tiff for a man that's done more good for society in his life than most Canadians ever could?

Yeah, let me know when you actually have something to say.

Anyone that considers themselves educated

What you really mean is anyone that agrees with you

Yeah, the former Walmart greeter, bar bouncer, and Grade 8 drama teacher and current panderer to the hands out for hand outs crowd.

your neighbor to the south, the one that IS the world power

Ah yeah, the bravado never ends, does it?

Yeah, let me know when you actually have something to say.

Some men just want to watch the threads burn. Pay them no attention.

Ali is the GOAT but you're not a fan. Let me guess - you're a Trump supporter though

All trump supporters now don't like Ali???? How did you mash up the two? Just so you know... I'm not a trump fan.
