Ali was a very good boxer. I am old enough to have watch the Frazier v Ali fight (btw - Cubans love boxing and baseball and are the best in both). I rooted for Frazier. But Ali was very good. He was completely full of himself and always reminded you of how great he was. Not sure how this is connected to Apple.

RIP

Honoring someone as a role model who died at an overdose? That would be odd...
I believe the autopsy said accidental overdose? I wouldn't be surprised if he was prescribed it and someone messed up. There's reports a doctor prescribed him drugs, wouldn't be surprised if there's a trial.

Huh? The guy was certainly not known for abusing substances at all and certainly didn't encourage anyone to use drugs. Tens of thousands of good people die every year from prescription painkiller overdose. Anyway if I had to predict the next person that Apple pays tribute to on their website it would probably be Jimmy Carter.

Spot on.

Besides, Prince inspired more people, and will continue to do so, than Cassius.

Also, prescription drugs kill more people, in the USA, than illegal drugs, each year.

Prince had chronic pain and those that are knocking him are just sad little people.

The world needs more brave people like Muhammed Ali, one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, and definitely the most iconic sports figure of all time.

Still, Mike Tyson in his prime would have beat Ali in his prime.

Dennis Ritchie wasn't all that important compared to so many others that didn't get an Apple page.

Yeah, not like the guy played a major role in the computer industry... you know, the industry that Apple is in.

Oh well. Perhaps they should have praised a marketing genius like Steve Jobs?

Apple recently updated the homepage of its website with a tribute to legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who died on Friday at age 74. Ali was admitted to a hospital earlier in the week due to respiratory ailments, which were further complicated due to a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.

The tribute on Apple's website includes a quote that reads, "The man who has no imagination has no wings." Apple has been a long-time supporter and admirer of Ali, showcasing the boxer in one of its famous "Think Different" campaign videos back in 1997.

Following the announcement of his death on Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a commemorative Tweet about Ali on his account, as did Phil Schiller. Ali's family has also taken to Twitter to share more details about his passing and honor his life, including his daughter Hana.

RIP Ali, you were an entertaining one-off in a bland world.
Macrumors listen up, Apple used him , in every sense of the words, in an ad years ago, and Cook tweeted once. This comes nowhere near being a "long-time supporter and admirer". You dishonour the man by attempting to jump on the post -Ali bandwagon and you don't fool us one little bit.

"Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

My personal favorite amongst Ali's quotes

Okay - a dystopian view of the future... at least M.A. has a real accomplishment. Fame ain't what it used to be.

I hope this isn't the future.

Did she get hit by a 1st gen self driving Apple Car that malfunctioned due to a bug in the lasted CarOS OS? #sidewalk-gate

If you gave Ali the benefits and bulk that modern sports science provided Tyson, be interesting fight. Straight comparison between fighters or athletes of different periods, the modern one is faster and stronger, and will win, unless we talk about the 80s Cold War athletes who where so doped up, the records stood for years ;)

Tyson never would have laid a glove on Ali in his prime.

Cool. This is a nice reminder that in spite of Apple flaws these days, they really are (still) a little different than, say microsoft flogging their surface on their homepage, dell.com flogging their latest crappy laptops, etc.

Apple has an air of class that the other tech companies just don't seem to "get".

That's laying it on pretty thick, don't ya think?
