Apple, wisely, don't care what you think. The TikTok community decides if young people buy the new iPhone now.
The first domino to fall was inviting people like MKBHD to the Apple events. The second domino will be Apple giving the iPhone to seemingly unheard of TikTok influencers (not even the tech reviewer ones!) for them to use at a K Pop concert or something to show off the new zoom capabilities.
They're gonna ask kids to film themselves jumping around at Ken Carson concerts using action mode and cross their fingers it establishes a new trend where action mode is a necessary component lol, just like the ultra wide selfie trend is probably the reason Apple gave the new selfie cam such a wide POV.
We are 2 bad sales cycles away from Apple breaking the "Beats + Celebrity collab" boundary and making a limited edition Aespa AirPods. You have no idea how much worse it's going to get.
A translucent invite would've been the way to go! Who approved this embarrassment?

Or is there a level of rumour that isn't postworthy? Genuinely curious, as there do seem to be things from time to time that have been referenced in a similar way, as if it's already (relatively) common knowledge…
A real outdoor test would involve some combination of unexpectedly bad weather, scrambling or bushwhacking around a trail blockage, or miscalculating the timing and returning to the trailhead a couple hours later than expected. Is Apple going to put its guests through something like that?
The best camera in the world is the one you have with you.
Everyone carry’s a phone. Very few people carry a camera with them everywhere. And for 99% of the population. The phone camera is good enough.
It is marketing and advertising, why would you expect anything different?
Have you ever seen an advertisement where the product is not great?

I used to like her videos, and props to her for building her brand. What's interesting is that she's a pretty competent tech pundit when I've heard her on other podcasts, but she's leaned into this influencer thing instead and basically does product ads and Apple 'reviews' where she parrots the corporate line.
I don't blame her either. 7M subscribers isn't easy to get. I would milk it too!
The strength of a photograph and its ability to release narrative to viewers has very little to do with the camera.
Rather, it's about the photographer and his/her life experiences, education, ability to read light, being able to determine what should and shouldn't be in the frame, recognizing the importance of gesture when photographing people, being able to let some details fall into the shadows to generate mystery, and many other aspects, before the shutter is released.
Many of my best photos were made with various iPhones over the years.
OTOH, many people believe photography is about having the best gear. And they'll never become good or excellent photographers as a result. It's immediately apparent looking at their photographs as they have little to say to people viewing them.

Hopefully she takes these sorts of things in good humor .. sort of par for the course with her line of work.
Apple's reliance on influencers, in my opinion, says a lot about how it's products aren't that good anymore
I believe it says more about the changing media landscape and Apple's approach to it. Social media influencers and podcasters are now more important to the younger generations than traditional marketing was to mine. And Apple needs to generate interest among younger generations to maintain future growth.
According to George Carlin, the way to get out of jury duty is to "tell the judge you'd make an excellent juror because you can spot a guilty person right away!"

My two cents worth - fully appreciate a smartphone camera isn’t going to produce the level of results you’d achieve with a dedicated camera but I had a DSLR and hardly used it.
Just make the best of the situation and if I’m not happy with the end results? Either tweak them or delete them 🤷🏽
