keep influencers out please.

if you need these people to showcase ur products, then u don't make your products good enough.
Whether we like it or not, influencers are the new TV/newspaper ads; so if using influencers means the products aren't good enough, then Apple's products were never good enough (since they always used ads). I don't like it either.

The strength of a photograph and its ability to release narrative to viewers has very little to do with the camera.

Rather, it's about the photographer and his/her life experiences, education, ability to read light, being able to determine what should and shouldn't be in the frame, recognizing the importance of gesture when photographing people, being able to let some details fall into the shadows to generate mystery, and many other aspects, before the shutter is released.

Many of my best photos were made with various iPhones over the years.

OTOH, many people believe photography is about having the best gear. And they'll never become good or excellent photographers as a result. It's immediately apparent looking at their photographs as they have little to say to people viewing them.
You don't need the best gear but at least a real cam... It has many advantages...

Not only the image quality is better, but with more settings like the aperture! You can take better shots ! Lenses too, the iPhone is limited to 3 fixed lenses... Dude a real lens give you way more quality in many cases... Ok you might be a super good photographer but if you try to use the zoom of the iPhone to take pictures of birds, well it won't be as good as a real cam even if you are not pro... Why ? The iPhone is limited at a x4 zoom (100mm I think or we could say 96)... Here is how the iPhone cam works btw :

- At 0.5 you get a normal quality (worse than real cam of course cause of sensor size)
- From 0.6 to 0.9 the quality get worse
- At 1 it's the best that your iPhone can do
- From 1.1 to 3.9 it gets worse and worse
- At 4 it gets a boost but then after it gets worse and worse....

So yeah this doesn't happen with a real cam... Especially if you wanna zoom, you better get a cam...

Same for low light too, with a small sensor you need to bump the shutter speed which is pain sometimes...

Real portrait too !!

And way more reasons...

PS: I found way better photos took on cams that on iPhones...

The best camera in the world is the one you have with you.

Everyone carry’s a phone. Very few people carry a camera with them everywhere. And for 99% of the population. The phone camera is good enough.
For this 99% of people, I suggest to get the future iPhone 17e, I think it's enough !! (MAX iPhone 17 because I know that many will complain about no 120hz...

"See you soon!" like they know he's definitely gonna be there. He might have jury duty or something and can't make it. 😂
Just by reading it, it is fairly obvious that they incorrectly described it as an invitation, since it appears to actually be a welcome/swag card for greeting the attendees. Invitations tend to actually give instructions with a specific location and time, not welcome you to a location once you have already arrived. Even if Colorado is only the 8th largest state, it still seems unlikely that he simply guessed the correct location and time without an actual prior invitation.

So, yes, they are pretty confident that you can make it if you are already there picking up your swag.

Funny thing is, most people don't really care as they are cropping and reducing the photo to post somewhere where you cannot even tell.

The best camera is actually the one that satisfies the owner, not anyone else. The happiest people are those that simply take satisfaction in their photos, not the process.

Edit: grammar/typo/terrible proofreading!

Over the years I've had and own a lot of so-called "real cams." An Arca-Swiss 4x5 film cam, a Pentax film cam, various dSLRs, a couple of Sony mirrorless cams, etc. And a bunch of lenses. And have *made* (not taken - there's a difference) tens of thousands of photographs over the years. And have worked on many projects. Including using various iPhones.

I'll stand by what I wrote in my previous post. I've lost count of the "photographers" I've met over the years that have expensive "real cams", and have only ho-hum photographs to show. Apparently they believe making excellent photographs that speak to viewers can only be done with so-called "real cameras." Yet often they have none to show.

When I'm working on a project in SF occasionally I'll run across another photographer on the street, with a conversation ensuing. I always ask something like "What do you shoot?"

If the answer is something like, "I shoot with a Leica M6 and a 50mm f/2 Summicron lens." I'll say something like, "That's great!" Wish him good luck and walk away.

If instead, the answer is something like, "I'm working on a project documenting the gentrification of marginalized neighborhoods in San Francisco." I'll say, something like, "That sounds like an interesting project - I'm doing something similar. Let's find a bar and talk about our projects."

From your post I don't expect you to understand the difference. And that's OK.

Man that's probably the biggest difference I saw when I got a camera... you can keep a GREAT quality if you crop... While on iPhone no.

Apple, wisely, don't care what you think. The TikTok community decides if young people buy the new iPhone now.

The first domino to fall was inviting people like MKBHD to the Apple events. The second domino will be Apple giving the iPhone to seemingly unheard of TikTok influencers (not even the tech reviewer ones!) for them to use at a K Pop concert or something to show off the new zoom capabilities.

They're gonna ask kids to film themselves jumping around at Ken Carson concerts using action mode and cross their fingers it establishes a new trend where action mode is a necessary component lol, just like the ultra wide selfie trend is probably the reason Apple gave the new selfie cam such a wide POV.

We are 2 bad sales cycles away from Apple breaking the "Beats + Celebrity collab" boundary and making a limited edition Aespa AirPods. You have no idea how much worse it's going to get.
It’s quite easy. It will get worse. It has to. it’s called entropy. I for one can’t wait to become a grumpy old man 😅

I could comment something dark and snarky but I won't. Instead I will write this.
I remember when I was kid. One day I visited my grandmother back in her village. She was a very kind and wise lady. She asked me to sit beside her and she would share her wisdom with me. She said, one day people will waste their time reading your comment.

So, today is that day...:cool:

Think any kind of invite or event will happen only during the last 10 days of the month. Will know more about it soon! Waiting to see the next products that Apple will announce.

If you have a decent eye for framing and composition you can usually do it on an iPhone, too.

My first digital camera was an Olympus D-600L with 1280x1024 resolution, so an iPhone doesn't seem as limiting to me as it seems to be for you.

It actually sucks being a grumpy old man. Of course, that could just be my grumpy old man speaking.

Excuse me, but I need to go yell at some kids on my lawn.

I wouldn't need to be a grumpy anything, if Apple invested their resources into fixing their OS bugs, instead of paying influencers.

Agreed.

My two cents worth - fully appreciate a smartphone camera isn’t going to produce the level of results you’d achieve with a dedicated camera but I had a DSLR and hardly used it.

Just make the best of the situation and if I’m not happy with the end results? Either tweak them or delete them 🤷🏽
I also had a DSLR and unless I was going out to specifically take photos with it, it lived in its bag.

As a iPhone 13 mini user who will likely have to be dragged to a big phone, the 17 makes me very happy. It's going to be an amazing phone when later phones come out and it will hang around awhile.

We're going to see more of this kinda thing going forward by the way because Apple know that TikTok (more specifically, the kind of content that goes viral there) is what convinces zoomers to buy the new devices.

A ton of young people thought the new 17 Pro design was whack based on Apple's official marketing alone but changed their minds after a few people went viral for decorating the camera bump with stickers. Same for the zoom, nobody cared or paid attention to it until videos went viral of real life examples at concerts or whatever.

Zoomers are convinced by trends which they deem 'organic' whereas any and all marketing campaigns by Apple are cringe and par for the course consumerism. That seems obvious to everyone now but consider just 5-10 years ago it was Apple's marketing itself that did the heavy lifting.
"... decorating the camera bump with stickers..." This is the consequence of pediatricians switching from lollipops to stickers ....
