One thing I did notice, the scroll bars of iPhoto seem to be different to the ones in iTunes. not sure what they were like in '08, as I've upgraded.

You can see from this screenshot of one of the tour on Apple's site that the scroll bars do indeed have a white appearance but only in some screens. For example in the events screen you have the darker iTunes scrollbar and within the event itself the lighter scrollbar.

Happened to me too....cashier was holding iLife right in front of me and said, sorry I cannot give it to you, Despite the fact that we emailed you that your order was ready for pick-up.

I called Customer relations and they agreed to send me a $75.00 gift card.

yes who did you talk to..

You don't see too many targets at Target? I sure as heck don't see any seers at Sears.

In all seriousness, the price of $79 is the "best buy" that you are going to get. "best buy" doesn't mean "cheap"

I do see a lot of **** at ****.

got it at my local Best Buy (Watertown, MA) at about 6pm today. I've been using iMovie; very stable and the "fine editing" features are really neat.

The geotagging seems only to work with pictures I've taken with my iPhone (my other cameras obviously can't tell where I am)! However, we were placed in India when we were actually in West Palm Beach!!!

Had no issues buying in-store at Madison, WI tonight around 8PM.

I see it is now pulled from Best Buy's website.

I'll be getting iLife '09 from my University bookstore later today. I can't wait as it should be pretty awesome from what people are saying.

Which university? I'd be shocked if they would have it ready to sell tomorrow.

Okay. It's January 27, 9:45 in the morning. I've called three of the larger Apple retailers here in Vienna and they don't have iLife '09. I should call again after 2 p.m. - maybe (nothing sure) they'll get a delivery from the mothership.

Just picked up the Mac Box Set from the Apple Store in Glasgow - £134.10 with a student discount. But it's the first day of the new semester and I've got classes all day so I can't play with it yet.

Amazed with the discount though.

Hmm, only a 10% discount, which is surprising.
It's cheaper to buy iLife '09, iWork '09 and Leopard all separately in UK with Higher Ed discount - comes to £126.50.

BTW anyone who bought a Mac recently, say at Christmas, might still be able to qualify for the iLife '09 up-to-date offer. Apple have done this in the past - try inputting your serial number on the on-line claim form.

iLife '09

Picked up mine at Best Buy in Austin TX yesterday...takes awhile to do it's thing with faces... will play with it today!

Apple store shows all three, iLife 09, iWork 09 and Box Set shipping in 24hours. Getting my box set.:)

Can anybody post some screen shots? What about a mini review perhaps? :D
I played around with it a bit yesterday.

iMovie - A few new features but overall very easy to use as before. I like some of the new video transitions. I made my first YouTube video with it yesterday and it worked well.

iWeb - Works pretty much the same as before. The widgets feature is pretty cool. If you want a YouTube video or countdown clock on your website, it's basically just drag and drop from the widgets selection on the right side of the screen. I did notice that when I first loaded the program, I had to "re-publish" my web sites.

iPhoto - Mostly the same but with the "faces" feature. I have 3000 photos in my library and it took about 30 minutes to find the faces in my photos. After it does that, you have to put a name to the faces it finds. It was sort of accurate but still mixed up faces. I don't know if I will use this feature.

Didn't mess with garage band yet.

The product itself took about 20 minutes to load. It made me upgrade my iPhoto library to work with 09. I like some of the new features in all the applications but IMHO, iLife 09 is not something to rush out a buy right now. There is nothing earth shattering here but it is a nice bump up in useability.

I don't think this is too big a leap for me seeing that I only use iPhoto and Garageband. Guess I'll just listen out for reviews of them both before taking the plunge.

The iPhoto facial recognition sounds brilliant but I wonder how it will work with my friends (got more than a few sets of twins) and family (girlfriends a triplet).

So far I have only played with iPhoto and here are my thought regarding the two major improvements faces and Places.

Faces
It took quite awhile to scan through my images which is understandable. i have marked a few hundred images with the correct names but iPhoto still fails to recognize quite a few faces and even misses to mark some really obvious faces. There is no option to list all found but unknown faces which is bad since it makes it quite hard to find those faces without walking through each image in your entire iPhoto library if you want to tag them properly. overall it's a cool feature but it certainly needs improvement.

It feels like if about 70 percent of the faces in my images have been detected although all have not been identified correctly even after several hundred faces have been manually verified.

Places
Again, it's a cool idea but it needs improvements. When clicking on the small (i)-button on an image or a selection of images you are show a dialog where you can enter the place where it was taken. the field is equipped with some kind of "suggest" mechanism. the unfortunate thing is that if the specific place is not to be found then you can't mark it. That doesn't seems so bad until you try it... I'm located in Sweden so i tried to geotag a few of my images. The only problem is that the only predefined place here is... well, Sweden which results in quite a rough geotagging. There is a work around however and that is a tool in iPhoto called something like "handle my places" (sorry, I'm using a swedish version so I'm unsure about the correct english name for the feature). In the "handle my places" tool you can search for more specific places such as an address and then add them to a list called "my places". When a place is added to "my places" then you can use them to geotag your images but why should I first have to open a dialog box, create the place and then go to the image and add that place to the image. It would be easier if those places could be created when trying to add them to the images. It's gets to troublesome to actually geotag your images until this is fixed.

Bestbuy is now showing iLife 09 as not available for pickup, can't even check in store stock where as yesterday I could. I wonder if they are just waiting for the Apple stores to open up.

I can't wait to try the face part of iPhoto. I used Riya (http://riya.com) when it first went beta years ago and it worked really well. Since then Riya has expanded to include items other than faces in their search.
