Apple iLife '09 Available at Best Buy Today, Apple Stores Tomorrow

Just got back from the Best Buy in Columbus (Morse Rd.) and they had about 6 or 7 more in stock. Just sitting in the Apple section as usual. Installing now...
 
Family pack

I just got an e-mail from apple, my family pack has shipped today and will be here tomorrow......yeahhhhh!!!!!
 
Ok, so I checked bestbuy for iLife 09 here in Charleston SC this afternoon. They showed one store across town as having it in stock and the other two a few miles away did not have stock. Before I left work I checked again and the one closest to me showed it in stock and I figured they had just received a truck so I proceeded there to buy it.

All they had on the shelf was iLife 08 so I asked the customer service person if they could check the back (I had already checked online stock again on one of the Apple computers in the store). One of them walked away and came back and said it would not be released until Feb 20. I questioned that and told them it was showing in stock and they would not back down.

I walked outside and decided to call the other store and the nice lady check and came back and said they had some in the back and would reserve one for me (I told her if I did not get by tonight to put it back thinking I would get it at the current store). I went back in and I think I got the same "Manager" that told the person I was dealing with that they would not be out until Feb 20. He went to check and came back and said it was a mistake on the website and they could not release it until tomorrow. I guess I should have ordered it online for in store pickup. I will just go back and get it tomorrow.

No go for me. Ordered the family pack online for instore pickup. Got 2nd email saying it wasnt in the store. Called that store, girl told me they would be available in store on the 31st. Oh well.

"patience young Skywalker", she said.
 
Best Buy wont give

I ordered it from the local apple store in Baton Rouge for in store pick up, got the confirmation email and all, drove all the way out there and they wouldn't give it to me they said they received a notice from apple not to release them till tomorrow what the heck i feel jipped!

I would have been ripped if they did that to me. After all it's the store that has to confirm "availability," before a pickup notice is send. Did you talk to the manager? At the very least he should have given you a coupon or something to make up for your lost time/gas.

yea, don't they need to give it to you or they give you a gift card or something? or was that only Circuit City?

The same thing happened to me I asked the "Manager" about being compensated they said there was nothing he could do but i could try calling 1800BestBuy. So i did after waiting on hold for 30 min I talked to the nicest customer support lady ever who seemed to think the situation was as ridiculous as I did wrote a case report for me and transfered me to her supervisor. 10 min later i talked to him and he said that the store must have a updated release date and thats why they wont release it even though the release date on the website is the 25th. I asked about compensation and he said they use to have a program to get a $10 gift card if you waited a certain amount of minutes for in store pickup but it was a trial thing and had been discontinued all ready. so i got robbed out of 40 min of my day for nothing!
 
Just got mine at BB. The place I did the phone pickup for was sold out. Another store I went to I missed it literally by a second, but luckily another store close by had it.

In case anyone cares I just picked it up at the BB in Chula Vista, CA. Their local Apple rep gave me the run around originally. I had to talk to the manager but once I showed it to him on their website he agreed to give it to me. All is good at the moment.

Had to ask someone to get it because it was in the LP office. Was not just sitting out....

Happened to me too....cashier was holding iLife right in front of me and said, sorry I cannot give it to you, Despite the fact that we emailed you that your order was ready for pick-up.

I called Customer relations and they agreed to send me a $75.00 gift card.

do u remember who u talked to/what u told them to give u a $75 gift card
 
I called my local Best Buy store and the sales rep told me that it'll be available tomorrow. Luckily, I stop by at Fry's after work and was able to pick up iLife 09 single user license for $79. The family pack and box set were also available.

I am installing it right now. Can't wait to try out all the new features. Good luck everyone.
