This still doesn't make me want to get in line.

Pre-ordering is much easier for me.

Not everyone can pre-order. I know people who use cash only and computer illiterate. They prefer to walk into the store and drop their cash there. Also, reservation system works well in case of back order like iPhone 5 last time and people didn't want to wait. All you have to do is search for inventory at certain store and reserve the phone when it's available. Then you just walk to that store to make purchase there. I didn't it with my iPhone 5 and I got it 2-3 days after the launch while my friend pre-orders got delayed for few weeks to a month later.

Preorder on time and you'll get one the first day. That's my plan.

So you actually have to pay for it right away? That's weird. Here u just preorder and pay in cash when u go there to pick it up. if you don't show up they'll just sell it to someone else

Or waiting a couple of weeks or even a month to be able to walk into a store and lay down your cash.

I did have a funny thought though, what would happen if people all of a saddened wised up to pre-ordering? Could you imagine a launch with out lines at Apples stores and the panic in the financial community. I'd laugh my behind off.

Now THIS is forward thinking and what I find makes Apple different than the rest of them all. Jealous Scamsung is running around as we speak to come up with a lame ad campaign against it hah!

Your ridiculously childish fanboyism is pouring out of my laptop speakers.

AT&T won't bump my upgrade eligibility for 2 days :/

I have to wait 'til the 21st.

The horror.

Lol, that's surprising. Tell them you want to pay EFT. They will bump you. They know you can leave and get the cheap upgrade with another carrier immediately.

The Apple Store I went to previously over here doesn't even serve you if you didn't preorder it online and sends u away. Lines r therefore more than pointless. And that wasn't even just on launch day, even a week later they were like nope we only serve people who reserved one online

Probably because you guys aren't getting the in store stock that they get in the USA.

Then you are reserving it, not preordering it. I'm surprised they allow that on launch.

Pre-order

I work overnight and since I am east coast like clock work3:01 the gates open. But you have to come loaded with different devices. I never can connect to att.net and apple only seems to work via the app. The the browser at my work station freezes, so I am using Iphone, desktop, laptop an ipad, on wifi, off wifi. when I do that there is one device that gets thru. But since I am up, its not a big thing. But yes, the last model 5s, I saw gray, white, and the million dollar (yeah) gold. I was able to upgrade 3 phones that night. But only at apples sight. ATT did not more. Funny, Target and Walmart, seems to have them available. That would be an experience spending a night in line at a Walmart.

I'd like to see a graph of the spike in web traffic when the phone goes live for preorder.

(Sorry for the side note... But has anyone seen a picture of the phone with 6 rows of icons on the homescreen yet? All the ones I have seen so far have got 5 rows and a big blank space where another one could easily go.)

You'll want to buy an unlocked one. Since you're buying off contract, there's no reason you wouldn't want the unlocked one since it works on nearly all carriers and has a higher resale value.

Alas, at least online, there are no unlocked iPhone 6 available

Well I suppose this just reduces the risk of losing that paper slip. But most people stand in the line the whole time anyway, don't they? Unless they plan on handing these things out a lot earlier than opening, doesn't strike me as very useful.

T-Mobile opened reservations for it a month ago. Vodafone and o2 have joined this morning

all of these morons standing in line at the apple store in NYC. hop on a damn train and go out the Apple Store in the Rockaway Mall. a line will barely be there, like in every previous iPhone launch

Hiw about being a normal person and just preorder and have it delivered to your front door?

Preorder on time and you'll get one the first day. That's my plan.

But if history is any guide, the website will be jam packed at 12:01am PDT on Friday. By the time I was able to get through, they were out of the T-Mobile non-contract model last year. I was fortunate to find a phone at a store on Saturday of launch weekend with only a 10 minute wait, but it can be hit-or-miss.

Wasn't that then, and not now? Just saying

Undecided if I want to wake up at 2am to preorder. Don't know why they can't start it at a more normal time like 7am.

Thank you :apple:, the worst part of launches is when foreign people come and scalp all the tickets.

Foreign people? You mean ones that don't look like you?

----------

Why spend 8-12 hours waiting in line for no guarantee of purchasing an iPhone when you can simply log onto their website in 3 days and preorder it? If you aren't able to get it ordered within 30-75 minutes then chances are that you'll receive it a few days or a week late. At least those 30-75 minutes won't leave you empty handed.

Well, if you log on in three days, you'll probably be waiting a few weeks of your phone.

The companies paying them to stand in line won't want them standing in line in East Bumfuuk because the media won't go there to interview them.

It sound like Apple wants to eliminate the line, which is fine by me. Still, I'll be relaxing in the comfort of my own home waiting for my, and my sister's, iPhone 6 Plus being delivered to our door.

I waited in line for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, as well as the iPad 1 & 2. I think I served my time. ;)

Problem with this system you will still have to wait in line for hours. They probably won't start assigning out "digital passes" until 8am when they officially opened. Then going one by one down the line will take 2-3 per person to assign out a "digital pass".

The signing out process will take quite a bit of time.

Can we pre-order for pickup at an Apple Store? Or is that only for delivery?

In the past its been for delivery only.
