Apple Increased AirPods Production Capacity, But Still Unable to Meet Demand

I've been lucky enough to have my hands on the AirPods last Christmas. They're one of the most beautiful apple products they ever made...

They’re ok. Sound quality is just meh. I’m sure someone is gonna correct me and tell how AMAZING they sound. Hardly “the best product I’ve ever owned.” Lol

Yes, the sound quality IS meh. But that's not their selling point. No wires, portability, battery life. If you ONLY care about sound quality, buy something else.

I have Bose noise-cancelling headphones for work, when I'm at my desk and not moving around. Much better sounding, cancel out ambient noise perfectly, but again, I can handle the big foam earmuffs as I'm not sweating, and the wires don't bother me when I'm sitting at my desk.

I have AirPods for the gym and when I'm moving around. Catch your wired headphones on a barbell and have the wires pull on your ear until they yank out just ONE time, and you'll go for the AirPods immediately.

I wasn't impressed when these came out. I had no plans of buying them.
Then, my wife got me AirPods for our Anniversary, and I was impressed at how great these are.
I just regret not getting them before. Switching from one device to another one is very easy. I never run out of batteries when on the road. I can use one at a time for phone conversations too. Amazing!

Oh come on. They sound about the same as the wired ones.

Far from it. You should have your ears checked.

And I will say this.. for user who's heavy on dialogue audio (Podcast, Radio, YouTube) this is one of the best earphone out there. The dialogue is crisp and the direction is clear. I listened to a YouTube where 5 guys just sitting talking about Game of Thrones and it's almost like I'm there in their room sitting in front of them listening to them.
It's as good as earphone this small can be.

AirPods + Apple Watch has been an incredible combination.
SN: Got them both for a pretty nice discount in recent weeks. $50 off the headset and $70 off the watch. (BB/Target)

My wife and I share the AirPods on a run, leaving our phones behind. If we get too far from each other, the connection gets weak and one might drop out or hear static. The range is pretty great, though.

I use them all the time to watch TV, but the AirPods on my AppleTV (tvOS 11 beta) is garbage. Like, almost any Bluetooth speaker/headset is really bad with the ATV right now, but the AirPods are getting worse. I'm trying to chaulk it up to being 1) a beta, and funky things like this are expected, and 2) I am using a mixed beta/retail set up and it's a mess. The AppleTV likes to take over one ear at a time, and I end up with my set split between my phone and the tv. Drop out is constant, static lingers, never mind it showing up in the Audio settings as a 2nd "AppleTV" instead of AirPods like in tvOS 10.

The iOS 11 Beta is okay with the iPhone + AirPods (love the new tap options), except of course the Watch (OS 3) doesn't play nice with iOS 11, and that carries over to the AirPods. "Now Playing" is broken, AirPlay doesn't work, and the AirPods don't switch sources well when using the Watch. That means I need to restart the watch for my AirPods to connect to the watch and play local music/alerts, before my phone or TV take over. Even 'disconnecting' from those two won't let me use the AirPods on my watch without a power cycle. Manual pairing doesn't help, it's the auto-connect feature of the W1/iCloud that is bugged between versions. Coming weeks will be more telling.

Otherwise I use my AirPods every day, all day, and charge the case maybe three times a week at most. Batteries are impressive.

The sound is great for what they are....long lasting (with the case), high quality wireless earbuds. Compared to a great pair of wired headphones? Yeah, just meh. I have them in my car always charged in case I need them. At home, I use my B&O wired cans....

I was going to order these for my girlfriend as she complains about the cable on her Lightning EarPods when training. She hates in-ears as she finds those to be hurting her ear-canals so I figured the AirPods would be worth a try. Impossible to get anywhere in my country, it's completely sold out and Apple says it will take six weeks for them to be delivered...

I am one of those for whom the only earphones which stay in the ear are the Apple ones. I mean... i can tug at the wire they won't come out. I have dropped the phone at times with the earphones in, and the phone dangles on the wire with the earphones still in my ears. I really want to get these airpods.

But then your phone will smash onto the floor!

I lucked up and checked inventory for them at the Baton Rouge Louisiana Apple Store and they were in stock. I bought them online and had them in an hour. Loving them so far. They far exceed on performance and staying in my ears than anything else did.

Just FYI, Target online store has them in stock and can be delivered in one day with $15 shipping. I may try them again...

Everyone is in a rush to stick a Class 1 bluetooth radio in their ears.

Looks like it doesn't really matter :(

Does the radiation transmit up the headphone cable that’s physically plugged into the phone?
Yes, it can. The headphone can act as a sort of antenna for your cell phone giving the radiation a fast route into your brain. The science is sketchy on this but in my view, having tried wired headphones, they are not the solution to reducing your radiation exposure. This is now widely accepted and yet wired headphones continue to be sold by the boatload to the population at large.

I thought they were artificially limiting the supply. I guess not. Are they really that great guys? How comparable are they to the quality of the lightning EarPods? What is real battery life like? Also how much of an impact does it have on the battery life of a 7 plus for example? Equal or less to an Apple Watch? Do you think the 2nd gen is worth the wait if one doesn't have a pair by now? It's already almost a year after the keynote.
I just purchased 0on Best Buy today for delivery tomorrow.

Everyone should read that articlle before buying Bluetooth headphones/earphones.

It's the "Bluetooth radiation is dangerous" statement at the end of that article that is worrisome. Plus, these new headphones are now Class 1 which is MUCH more powerful than the more traditional Class 2. So, having a Class 1 radio essentially in one's ears is a very bad idea IMO. Most people have no idea about Bluetooth, let alone the different classes.

I have been using them for a couple of weeks and they're pretty good. The downside is battery life, as I'm averaging about four hours. Also, I ended up purchasing the neoprene covers that slip over the module quite easily. They have a small hook that captures the inner opening of your ear and greatly enhances the hold. I learned the hard way when the left one fell out into the sand!
