Why do people in your area put up with data caps?
Lack of competition for ISPs. Many places only have one ISP and get screwed over.

I am lucky enough to have Comcast and FiOS where I live, many other people are stuck with one choice that has little incentive to please their customers.

Literally got an Apple TV 6 hours ago
Glad to see this change, read about this and since I have a slow connection I read it wouldn't have content always ready (with only 200mb) and you'd have to wait

I love playing "Broken Age" on the ATV. It works and looks great. Having up to 4GB is insanely great but now I wish I ponied up the cash for the 64GB model.

Good decision. I keep few apps on my ATV, mainly Netflix and media apps. I don't think it was a mistake by Apple to require games to include the Apple remote support or to limit the size; I think they take steps to ensure quality. For instance, the first iPhone had no App Store or 4g, but was still the best phone I had owned up to that point.

What does bug me is the incredible amount of issues in the music app when that first iPhone had a flawless music app!

I reckon gaming on Apple TV could become bigger than people think..

It's all about timing. They probably wanted to wait until there was enough content before they took certain steps. No point having app categories right at the start when there are only 20 apps! No point releasing a proprietary gamepad when theres no games yet.

But now, there are more games on there than you might realise. And some of them are pretty decent. ie Minecraft, Trials Frontier, Gameloft games, Alto's adventure blah blah. Casual games mind you, but thats the point.

Remember, when the iPhone came out, it was a year before they allowed third party apps. And years more before the game library grew. All the while, people laughing saying 'Playing games on your phone will never be significant. Gameboy forever'...

My hopes and predictions, they will release a new apple TV (pro?) that will be as powerful as say the next few gen of iOS devices. Bundle it with some touch based gamepad or something and market it as a family gaming console + more.. And encourage devs to make more games that are cross platform between iOS devices and the living room.

Give it time!

Can anyone help explain this to me-- if I have a 32 gb Apple TV, and I purchase and download ten itunes movies each at 4 gb, ie total 40 gb, does Apple TV manage the storage automatically by deleting movies as I go, or do I need to manage the storage? And if so, how do I delete movies?

You can't download movies to the ATV - it always streams them

They were able to take time with the iPhone cause there were no smartphones on the market!
The Amazon Fire TV and Nvidia sheild had been on the market when the ATV4 came out! Developers did not feel they needed to bend over backwards for the ATV because there are better platforms to put effort into. It might just be too little too late....

Imagine if Apple had just developed and included a game controller for the ATV 4 and made it a core option for game devs?

Such wasted potential.
Well, I won't go into detail how I think that it's good to not trust Apple with your gaming needs, what I actually wanted to comment on is your display picture.

can't remember the last time i felt the need to play a game on my Apple TV.

It's because the Siri Remote is AWFUL for games. Apple MiFi controllers are too expensive.

If Apple included say the Steel Series Nimbus as part of the Apple TV, the device box may have sold like hotcakes to casual gamers.

I've had the Apple TV 4 ever since it came out.
Still have to find a single useful or enjoyable app.

Apple TV users id love to hear your feedback (and app suggestions)

I only use Plex and Netflix... Amazon Prime Video is not available on Apple TV :(

Besides Plex and Netflix and a couple notable games, the Apple TV app store seems like a wasteland.

I'm not sure what's going on with APPLE. Many say that Apple has lost it. We will see come September if it's going to be impressive!!

Those "many" that say Apple has lost it, I assume they are referring to:

  • Now reaching nearly 100% of entire smart phone industry profits
  • Record setting App store sales, including $240 million in one day!
  • Record setting quarter for industry leading smart watch
  • Apple Services revenue alone just exceeded the entire revenue for all of Facebook, and is growing so fast that it will be the equivalent of a Fortune 100 company in 2017
  • Apple Pay zooming past Android Pay, Samsung Pay and others to own 75% of the market, adding 1 million users per week!
  • Apple Music starting last but moving to number 2 in less than two years and adding 1 million users a month!
  • Record setting initial sales of Macbook Pro
  • Apple now the largest seller of wireless headphones on the 3rd Rock from the sun!
  • Apple now owning 60% of the worldwide market for premium (+100$) headphones!
  • Airpods selling as fast as Apple can make them and already owning 26% of market!
  • Latest projection is for Apple to break record for revenue and earn ONE TRILLION dollars from iOS alone in 2017!

I could go on, but just wanted to make sure I was following correctly the main reasons to think Apple has lost it and why the Board will likely want to get rid of Tim Cook.

I just want it to be 4K.
It's not a games machine and I can't believe anyone would buy it for that given that real consoles are so cheap as well.

The thing is after buying a Sony Tv with android I can honestly say that Apple TV is light years ahead of it as an interface for actually watching stuff. It's just so much smoother and easier to use. If it were 4k I would never use the android Tv interface again. It's terrible.

Yeah that's very good and well for short term profits. Long term, Cook is alienating his users, which is extremely bad.
